The only highlight of a an otherwise miserable paper-round was that strip as I packed the papers (my folks never bought that rag).

I bought that rag solely for the Dredd strip. Can't remember how I discovered Dredd in  the Star, hadn't heard of him, or 2000AD, before, but after seeing one strip I bought the rag every Saturday, then daily when Dredd was included in every issue, and graduated to 2000AD in time. Still have many of the Saturday strips I cut from the paper, the abruptness of a story in a few pictures was a great format for Dredd.
