I'm pretty sure they are all suspected Chechnyan resistance that he was transporting to headquarters for execution. Filled with the pathos of the moment and being the bat-shit crazy, he decided to make a detour and and drop some knowledge on the world first.
Quote from: "satchmo"Speak's wikipedia page implies that guy is a vampire.
Word?!
Yep, it says this too:
"Speak's deeply moving lyrics have struck a chord with the disaffected youth of an empty generation yearning for answers."
I think the vampire theory might be more plausible.
Quote from: "wikipedia"His first single, "Stop the War", was explicitly political. In it, Speak weaves a complex tapestry of political philosophy
Ha!
Quote from: "wikipedia"His own assessment, that "this is an anti-war song, at that time, after September 11, this was just timely", may underestimate the song's subtleties. This ignores the internal evolution present in "Stop the War": Speak takes us on a philosophical journey through extremist Wahhabism, Marxism, and finally optimistic Post-9/11 philosophy.
This is too funny.
Quote from: "wikipedia"Speak's addition of the word 'bisness' (business) after the word war draws connections and connotations towards the military-industrial complex, highlighted by Dwight D. Eisenhower. He carefully alludes to a multifaceted paradigm in which war is carried out as business and, more thought provokingly, that war is now a tool for multinational profit. Parallels can be drawn from Speak's controversial statement to the ongoing privatization of the American Armed Forces and the the hypothesized secret cabal of big-business insiders running the current Bush Administration. With this short message Speak is silently asking for a lifting of the moral zeitgeist to stop the entrenchment of war itself in the nation state.
Do what?! Who exactly wrote his wiki page? Peterwolf?
That's a helluva lot of conjecture on that wiki based upon some tone-deaf warbling.
Sometimes a crap song is just a crap song (badly sung).

Worse than that was Uffie who looks to be about 14 rapping about Glocks with the sound effect of a pistol with a revolving magazine like a Smith and Wesson when she should have used the smooth click of a column magazine being loaded.Cant understand her lyrics but the tune was alright.

Even worse than that was the evangelical video that was showing Indians living in poverty. They must be the nice poor people wheras they missed out the poor Iraqi or Palestinian children.

The whole R Kelly opera transcends this genre of the painfully awful - it's actually more than a little brilliant.
"...the man was a midget (midget) (midget)" is one of my favourite lines from anything.
He did another batch of episodes recently, but apparently they are deliberately funny, as if the whole thing has always been a big joke, and we're all laughing with R Kelly, not at him. He's fooling no-one.
Are you sure the midget isn't just a child?

The production has that horrible synthetic Pro-Tools sound to it plus the overuse of what sounds like a Yamaha DX7 synth. It sounds dated yet its new.
Pathetic garbage.
I think that Lily Allen song is rather clever (to the extent that I'd contemplate buying the album - "I'll look at the Sun, I'll look in the Mirror", I like), although the video is hard to watch. I should note here that I have legendarily terrible taste, and I do seem to be in a uncharacteristically positive humour today, feck knows why.

You seem to be taking those lyrics at face value. You probably shouldn't be. I am in agreement with Tordelback regarding the rather cleverness of it and I actually quite like dated sounding stuff every now and then, although I can see how her voice could get on some people's nerves a bit.
I don't see what's wrong with her face exactly, and bringing that into the argument just seems incredibly rude and insulting, not to mention irrelevant.
Video is quite crap though.
...and I just listened to "Everyone's At It" or whatever it's called and it reminds me of the tune that plays in CJ's Elephant Antics on the ZX Spectrum. So I like that Lily Allen song too.

I bet that no one knew that The Land Of Make Believe was actually about "the creeping values of Thatcherism" to quote the songwriter who wrote it.
Funnily enough, I was just thinking about that Buck's Fizz video today, and was thinking about putting it on this thread. Didn't realise it was done already. When it came out, of course, I thought it was absolutely ace. But let anyone doubt my coolness, I would like to reiterate that I also had an Adam Ant stationery set.
Here's another dodgy Elfman one for good luck. Note the imagery inspired by the 'skeleton in the closet' line. Good tune, though. Why have I never heard of Oingo Boingo before this year? I also didn't realise that the Keith Flint-alike was Danny Elfman until well after seeing the video.

Put it there, my man!
For years all my relatives had to read their thank-you letters at Christmas with Stuart Goddard sneering at them from the edge of the page.
I'm sure there's a 'stand and deliver' joke about the Adam Ant envelopes there somewhere.
But yeah, the doves are absolutely bawling right now
I always thought the lyric to the chorus of Stand and Deliver was "Stand and Deliver .....Your money or your wife...." but i could be wrong.
'Life', I think. At least that's what they used to sing in my primary school, followed by '...or your baldy-headed wife'. Another side-splitting parody was 'Stand in the river, my feet are getting cold'.
Ah, yes, with such inspired satire it's easy to see how Jonathan Swift was an Irishman
"Stan and his liver......you're running away from my knife......"
That was the Jeffrey Dahmer version.
I can't hold any moral high-ground on this one as I used to think that the titular line from the Elvis song 'I'm all shook up' was 'A marsh-ica'.
I know, I know...
-Bouwel-
This kind of thing can ruin music sometimes.I ruined Teardrop/Massive Attack by thinking that part of one of the verses sung by Liz Fraser was "Most faithful Marrow ....Fearless Samurai..." and it was never the same after that.
