General / Credits for Action?
18 May, 2018, 09:32:20 PM
Not sure if this is the right place to ask for this info, but is there a place that has issue by issue writing/art credits for the old Action comic (home of Hookjaw, Dredger, et all). I was hoping it'd be listed on 2000ad.org's Barney site, but no dice. Thanks for the help!

General / Name that BAM!
28 December, 2017, 09:36:02 PM
Hi everyone! As we continue working our way through 1982, we've reached the Ace Trucking story "Too Many Bams," which features an exploration crew made up of these big headed aliens with extremely detailed faces. They're pretty clearly based on real people, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me identify them?

The first bam, Professor Max Challenger, is clearly artistic extraordinaire Massimo Bellardinelli this is his third or fourth cameo in Ace Trucking). I believe that Doctor Hoskins and Chumley are Alan Grant and John Wagner, the thrill's author's, respectively. Beyond that I'm not sure. Could Dave Patton be letterer Steve Potter? Any ideas on the female crew members? Help me out and get a shout out when we cover this one (it'll be episode 84) Thanks!

General / Ian Gibson Pen Names in Early 2000Ad
16 August, 2017, 02:06:29 AM
Hey folks, I've got a question about early 2000AD that maybe someone can help me with. For our show we're looking at 2000AD in late 1980/1981, and we're starting to see a lot of Ian Gibson returning to the comic, mostly drawing Dredd and occasional Tharg strips. My question is: Why is he drawing under a pen name? He's generally listed on the Credit Cards as Emberton when he draws Dredd and Q. Twerk when he draws Tharg. This seems odd to me because he was previously listed under his real name when he was drawing Robo-Hunter, and will use his real name for later stuff like Halo Jones. Can anyone think of a reason why he (or IPC editorial) would want his identity hidden for just a few months in the early 80s? It's not like Gibson doesn't have a distinctive art style!

Anyhow, interested to see if anyone has any ideas, thanks!

Welcome to the board / Greetings from America

Borag Thungg Earthlets!
I'm Conrad, new to the forums but a big fan of 2000AD. I've come to the comic pretty recently (like the last 5 years or so), just because it's kind of hard to find here in the States. I guess the big thing about me is that I host a 2000 AD themed podcast called Space Spinner 2000. It's a show I do with my friend Fox. He's a complete 2000AD newbie, and twice a week we review a month of 2000AD progs or a special edition, like an annual. We started from the Prog 1 and have now released over 35 episodes, covering up to July 1979. Feel free to check it out, we'd love to hear from you!

I'd suggest starting at episode 26, our New Listeners episode, covering the 2000AD/Starlord merger. I hope you enjoy the show and I'll see you around on the forum!
