credo

My big hope is that vol. 23 is a bit of a chunky one.  Judging by the length of other recent volumes, it should end around Hammerstein, but it'd be much better to end at Man Who Broke The Law (last Miller?) and start vol. 24 with the first episode of The Pit.

Now there's a dividing line in quality if ever there was one.

So, overall a huge upswing in terms of quality - books 25 onwards are going to pretty much be freakin' amazing, wall to wall Wagner-fests. Fingers crossed that they're going to be arranging the books so that the crossovers like Tenth Planet/Conspiracy of Silence/Awakening of Angels read correctly as they did with Judgement Day. It looks like the 'lead' stories for each book will be:

21: Wilderlands/Tenth Planet, Casualties of War
22: Crusade/The Exterminator
23: Goodnight Kiss
24: The Three Amigos
25: The Pit
26: Dead Reckoning(?)
27/28?: The Hunting Party

Keen eye, that man!  If done that way, then Volume 24, of course, will be unmissable.

(Edit) Radiator's guesswork sounds even better.  Sorry.

Great post!

So, after Iv bought CF21, I'll need to wait till 25 to avoid any Mark Millar stuff :-* A year and a half away?

Great bit of work Radiator, that really whets the appetite!  So much stuff listed here I either haven't read or have completely forgotten.  Now that the Sargasso Sea of the mid-90s has been largely crossed, I actually feel better about going back and buying the volumes I've missed so far.

credo

Great post radiator. I don't know how I managed to miss a whole volume, but your thoughts look good. Rebellion - get us to 25 as quickly as possible!

Ah, but you'd be missing out on so much awesomeness:

Blowout
Language Barrier
Statue of Judgement/The Cal Files/Bad Frendz (which together mark the beginning of the excellent Edgar/PSU/Doomsday arc)
To Thing With Love (which is up there with Bury My Knee... as one of the all-time greatest Dredd one-shots of all time if you ask me)
The Decision
The Three Amigos

Some of my all-time favourite lesser-known Dredds right there...

Should say, props as ever to Grant's Touched by the Hand of Tharg site for help compiling the lists - direct your praise to him.

Probably because there is such a wealth of Megazine material to get through (the Meg was fortnightly at this point don't forget), and also that around '95 the prog was running two Dredd episodes a week - so the amount of actual number of issues covered is due to slow down significantly as we get into the mid-nineties period.

If I have time later, I'll speculate on volumes up to the early thirties - I think I'm right in saying that there will be one or two Case Files volumes entirely composed of material written by John Wagner....

We haven't had Bury My Knee at Wounded Heart yet, have we?  When's that due to appear?

I love that the Millar stuff is being skipped. Hilarious. I know not of what I speak as I gave up the prog in the 90's and am gauging the mood in the room.
Have to endure his "Review Show" appearances, gawd save us from MillarWorld. Sigh.

Maybe I'll give it a go later on. Bought 5 CFs the other week to get a full 1-16 collection. So I'll probably fill in the blanks between 16,21 and 25 in time.

I'll probably buy each one of 25 and onwards. No queston about it :) !

Fantastic, thanks Greg.  I've got it but haven't got up to reading it yet.  I'm going to seek out "Bury My Knee..." right now.

Interesting.  I wonder what it will look like, as the first non-Langley volume of the 'current' collections (allowing Book of Scars is a special case)?  Will they use the trade dress from the rest of the (excellent) softback line?
