What's 'Vizard'? Mills-speak for 'wizard'?
It's a type of mask. Mills has appropriated it as a 17th century synonym for "superhero".

I must admit that's a pretty clever choice -- direct reference to "masks" yet also evocative of "wizard".  Whatever his faults, Pat Mills is astonishing at carrying out background research to put into stories.

I wonder if the droid that used dark green font colour for the Dredd title 'Sons of Booth' - then placed it over a black shadow - rendering it invisible - has been to visit Mek-Quake yet?

Ouch. Almost invisible in my copy. I see it shows up on this online version:



It will most likely be an overprint setting rather than to do with colour choice. Kind of thing that might show ok on screen but doesn't knock out of the background at the repro stage.
