That seems an awfully long time to wait.

Almost two years from when it started filming.

This strikes me as a bit odd and does not bode well.

Excitement levels have now dropped quite a bit.

Straight to DVD perhaps?

Yeah probably- I'm sure they're just hoping we've all bought a 3D TV by then...

Can we please cease with this little piece of nonsense? The date announced is for worldwide cinema release - it has been sold into all territories for CINEMA RELEASE. Okay?

Mulcher- you'll always be an overly tall twat*, but I salute your King Canute-like dedication to the job in the face of endless whining.

I love you too, Matthew ;)

It's already been explained why. Timing's everything with a niche release like this. Release it at the wrong time and it'll get lost in the crowd.

What I'm on about is that post production on a movie usually doesn't take 18 months to complete.

A film sitting on the shelf is a film losing money. I'd have expected it to be out on DVD by next September.

Films that are delayed in release are usually delayed because the studio doesn't have faith in the film.

Straight to DVD? Where do you people come from?!?

Actually that's the average amount of time for a genre SCI-FI film.

Talk about jumping to conclusions. The 18 months ain't about post-production, it's a non-argument.

Unfortunately/fortunately 2012 happens to be the biggest year for genre/comic adaptations in film history out-the-gate almost from Jan/Feb with Star Wars 3D, Ghost Rider, Wrath of the Titans & John Carter, right through the Summer with Avengers, Batman 3, Prometheus, Star-Trek 2, Spider-Man, Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, G.I. Joe 2.

The Hobbit, Django Unchained, Bond 23, Halloween 3D, Twilight, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D all pencilled for the Nov/Dec.

September is the only real window for Dredd that doesn't have BIG competition unless you count Looper, Resident Evil or the Expendables 2.

Think Star Trek's back to Xmas 2012, Joe. No script yet.

The only possible reason for such a long wait is - that there actually is no film. It's all an elaorate hoax and you guys are falling for it.

Yes, when a "film" takes a long time to release like this it always means that said "film" doesn't actually exist. Dre3d will actually turn out to be some sort of new fragrance for men or something. This would explain all the pictures of cars and why Karl Urban has so much stubble in the official photo.

MARK MY WORDS - THERE IS NO FILM.

Still 2012 though, a full year.

QuoteI think now, 12 months after shooting the film, I've breathed a huge sigh of relief.

WHA-? They filmed it 12 months ago! And it's only coming out now??? Straight to DVD, I assume..?
