Oooooh, it's November 1st which means it's time to sign up for the annual 2000AD Messageboard Advent Calendar!!! Every year these have been absolutely magical, providing a real treat every day on the run to to Christmas, so PLEASE sign up guys!
The way it works is like this, folks sign up and promise to produce something on a given day as a little prezzie to the board. It can be a picture, a song, a short story, photos, anything you like.
So sign up my lovelies, here's the list, just choose a day - there can, and hopefully will, be multiple people submitting per day. Like last year, Everyone is invited to sumit stuff on Christmas Eve and I'll try and get a few pro's to do something too (I'd appreciate help here from those in the know!)

Hi, I joined the forum last year and posted on the advent calendar thread. I really enjoyed the positive and friendly atmosphere so much so that I decided to produce a 25 page full colour Dredd story for this years advent calendar.
I started work on this story March 2012 and inbetween producing artwork for Zarjaz, Dogbreath, Dr. WTF and other mags I have nearly finished it.
I would like to post one page each day on the Advent Calendar thread if possible however I really don't want to upset anyone as it's just a bit of fun to add to the festive spirit.
So I thought it best to ask forum members what you think first?

Well, just so you're warned, an idea is welling up and beginning to spill onto the page here in the WhitBloke studios. Thing is, being such a colossally professional artist, I can't be sure when precisely it will be finished so I was wondering...
Pete, is it bad form for people to crop up even as late as the earlier listed dates being underway to slip in a second or even third contribution on a given day or do you need the dates/contributors in a far more timely fashion?

I don't want to upset anyone or spoil the fun. It would be nice to join in on this thread and run the strip day by day. However It would be great if a solution could be found where I could share the work on this thread and avoid upsetting other contibuters. Maybe I could post the strip in 4 parts (of 6 pages) once a week if the Daily posting is no go with the majority of other contributers?
I'm gonna hang back and see what people say for a bit.

Hey Megabus, I think if you read Whitbloke's post back, he's joking. I really want you to run the strip day by day, that way we get two treats a day. Also, if anyone can't post for some reason, then we know there's going to be something anyway!
Most importantly though, you've put shitloads of work into this and I strongly believe it should be printed as you intended.

Yes. Totally joking as Mr Wells says but not really joking at all, David. A day-by-day Dredd tale sounds (and already looks, having seen your de-dialogued panel above) fabulous.
If anything, the obvious mountain of talented effort you've been putting in as a fantastic gift to the forum would demand that I should (rightly, and honestly) apologise if you took my last post as anything other than the excited compliment it was certainly meant to be. And that's not to mention the fact that your tale means we get two Prog-length Dredds this year (!!) or the foresight you had in beginning such a project back in March, which puts my own slapdash approach to definite shame.
Not that I don't expect to greatly enjoy all the contributions as they see the light of day in the run-up to Christmas Day, but yours is already one I'm really looking forward to seeing each day.
If I did offend, I do rightly apologise, David. And if I didn't and you saw that I was simply excited about getting to enjoy your own fantastic contribution on a daily basis, then I'm glad. Because I am.
And with that, I'm going to shut up and get started on the work for my own... thing. :-\

Thanks WhitBloke, I finished all 25 pages about a week ago so all is ready. I like the Grey Area cartoon you posted. I especially like the layout and colour pallet that you have used with this image.

Good grief! Here's me just trying to do the visual equivalent of holding a tune and I've suddenly grown a palette. Very kind of you to say, Megabus, particularly when it's followed by the reminder of that instantly enjoyable Dredd portrait.
And now, in an effort to make 1950s Christmas cracker jokes look like Perrier award material, I'm back off to scrape out the bottom of a barrel labelled "Cheap Laughs" in time for the 17th...
