General / Subscriber free gifts.
19 December, 2018, 05:58:54 PM
I've been a subber for 14 years now and not received a free gift, bar that first year, since.

Got the latest email and I see they are offering them again to new subbers.

Just feel like I get pissed on being a monthly subber.

Could just go the newsagent route and not worry about it but want to support Rebellion but they seem to shun me everytime they do one of these offers.

Anyone else feel the same?

Books & Comics / Dylan Dog
25 November, 2018, 03:46:19 PM
Anyone else read this?

I've been visiting Italy twice a year for the past four years and have got right into this series. So much so that I'm using it to help me learn Italian (along with several language programmes.)

It's a brilliant series, well drawn and, at times, very funny. Also referencing several horror films like Dawn of the Dead along the way.

I have the Dark Horse 6 issue collection that was translated into English but the bulk of my collection is in Italian.

If there is anyone out there, and it's a long shot, that has any original Italian copies I would be willing to buy them off you. If not I'm happy to discuss the content. Although my Italian is coming along it still takes me a week to read 68 pages of every issue.

I love this series (nearly 400 issues so far plus some specials) but I doubt many people in the UK read it.

Here's hoping. I buy as many as I can when in Italy but still only have about a dozen (not including the Dark Horse versions where they change the side kick from Groucho to Felix through fear of being sued by Groucho Marx's estate...He looks just like him and it's suggested that he is him.)

The stall at the end of the bus station in Rome is the best place to get them. They have loads at 2-3 euros each but my money only allows me 3-4 a visit.

Managed to pick up some omnibuses' of 3 issues each at Pisa recently. Florence had none that I could find.

Man, they are trying to kill me.
This is a new partwork from Eaglemoss.
I adore Batman, he's my favourite comic character.

Film & TV / Dimension 404
17 October, 2017, 02:42:36 PM
Sorry if there is already a thread about this series.
Only seen the two episodes that have been broadcast on SyFy but I enjoyed them both.
Have a nice 1980's Twilight Zone feel about them and they are well made with both episodes enjoying good casts.
Anyone else caught up with them?

Film & TV / Home projector
04 October, 2017, 08:53:38 AM
Always fancied having my own cinema but the missus won't let me buy one.
So after years of going down the big TV route I decided to try out a projector.
Bought a relatively cheap one, £57, from Amazon, and could not try it out properly until it got dark by I am wowed by the results.
I have achieved a excellent picture that is 8 feet by 5 feet and because I fed the HDMI through my amp I have 7.1 sound with it (the built in speaker is, as you would expect, not very good).
So today I am painting the wall white. I was going to go for a screen but the results I had last night with a beige patterned wall were amazing. Don't see the reason in spending another £80 for a screen.
Anyone else got a projector? I am also having to move the furniture around and am of course keeping the TV for day time use but I shall be buying some black out curtains for when I fancy watching a movie or some sport during the day.

Prog / 40th Anniversary Prog. Probably a stupid question.
12 February, 2017, 05:12:42 PM
Do subscribers get this as part of their subscription or is it like a 'Winter/Summer' special that needs to be bought individually?
Thanks for any answers.

Prog / Prog 2013 - Infernal Investigations
09 January, 2017, 09:55:34 AM
The first prog I have received in 2017 and it's rather super, I think.
Dredd: Deep in the Heart. Absolutely loving the art work from Trevallion. Nice, crisp and clean and the story is getting very interesting.

Kingmaker Part 3. The one story from five that's not exactly floating my boat at the moment but it could be too early to tell.

Hope...For The Future part 3 Again, it's the art that is blowing me away with this feature. Reminds me of the EC stuff towards the end of those comics and the plot is going along nicely.

The Order never been a massive fan but once again the artwork is teriffic.

Kingdom. Little bit too much action and not enough to read for my tastes but still decent.

If anything this issue sums up exactly what 2000 AD is. Stories of wildly different concepts and artwork spanning the whole gamut of styles and ranges. In other words; something for everyone.

A cracking read 8/10

Prog / Prog 2012 - Gone to Texas!
24 December, 2016, 11:49:29 AM
Well, that was a surprise. Did not expect to see Prog 2012 for at least another week.
No review as I have not finished the end of year Prog yet.
Just to let you guys know that it's out there!

Prog / Prog 2008 Mind Craft
19 November, 2016, 09:08:29 AM
Not my favourite cover (or even close for that matter) of the year but bright and would stand out in the newsies (trying to be positive)

Damage report says what, I hope, we are all thinking.

Dredd: Too early in the story to tell whether it's going to be excellent rather than just good but I adore Jake Lynch's art.

Savage: I'm enjoying this quite a bit.

Hunted: Again, another story I'm digging quite a bit. Feels quite old skool in a 90's (but good) way.

Flesh: Not a fan a photographic artwork myself but this episode works and feels quite cinematic.

Counterfeit Girl: I've tried hard with this story but it's just not my cup of tea I'm afraid. Don't like the art nor the story. It's me not you guys. Sorry.

Solid prog in my opinion. A good 7/10.

Prog / Prog 2006 - Stealth Fighter.
05 November, 2016, 10:52:00 AM
Prog arrived on time after last weeks snafu.
Opened the Prog to page 2 and read Tharg's comments concerning Steve Dillion and then looked at the black box below which simply states 'grim'.
Didn't feel like reading it after this.
Maybe next week.

Best thing about having children  ;)

I only have the one but his Mother he treated me to the 15 disc blu ray set of The Complete Halloween (region A).

What a lovely lad.

I also got a card from the dog. Which is nice.

Games / Samsung VR headset
29 May, 2016, 05:41:41 PM
Sorry if this has been covered before but I just got one of these yesterday and I'm pretty blown away with it.
Anyone know of a good app that does real rollercoaster rides?
Or any good apps for that matter. I have a few and they are utterly brilliant.

General / Thrill Containment Binder.
02 December, 2015, 06:08:34 PM
Now taking orders. Limited to 500
Holds 28 issues.
Considering I would need at least 60 of these I think I'll stick to my original binding program.
Which is a shame.
I'll probably buy one, just for the collection.
