I've just been into Forbidden Planet in London and picked up a leaflet advertising a signing of a Villains Takeover Special, with an image of all the bad guys from 2000AD and the 2000AD logo.

This seems to be a one-off comic, but I've heard nothing about it. Does anyone know anything?

It's happening on Saturday 4th May between 1pm - 2pm.

This year's FCBD is a Treasury comic, not 2000 AD, and so 2000 AD are instead doing a 99p/$0.99 special where the villains take over. If you don't want to rock up to a comic book store on the day (and don't care about a signed copy), you can grab the entire 2019 specials bundle (six comics, individually sent) from https://shop.2000ad.com/catalogue/B0011 for a bargain 20 quid (including shipping).

A bunch of us are going to meet up to get things signed and/or go for a drink (mostly the drink, to be honest).  Copied from farcebook:

"It's Free Comic Book Day and also 99p 2000AD Day this year.
At the moment, there is only one signing happening and it's at Forbidden Planet and it has Matt Smith (Tharg) and Greg Staples signing the Villains Special, from 13:00-14:00
You know the score, meet up at the signing and then wander across to the Crown and Anchor in Neal Street and If we're not visible downstairs, then we'll be upstairs.
Come along and meet the Southern Contingent after the signing and have a chat over a few drinks. It's much better than tapping away at a keyboard.
See you there!"

That sounds Amazing!  How I long for that kind of comradery, meeting to discuss 2000ad over a drink. I would attend every event! However, I live in Canada where no one knows the thrills of 2000ad and comic collectors are more concerned with the value of their variant covers instead of the joy of reading good comics.
Have a drink for me and extend my gratitude to Tharg!

Mine turned up yesterday!

Only read the Rob Williams/Sahlstrom/Bowland Death story, but it was a doozy with some simply fabulous art!

Hope we see Sahlstrom in the Prog again before long!

Who needs the rubbish from the big two on FCBD when you've got quality like this!  :)

Mine too, which was a nice surprise since I don't remember ordering it.

I wonder now if I bought the pack along with the recent Cor/Buster special.

Anyway, it was okay.

Lovely somewhat heart-wrenching picture on the back cover.

Got my 'GrumpyFunter' head on - The Bland and Brass story needed another pass at the script to make it clearer what the deal was, and there was at least one terrible lettering decision made here.

The lettering was weak in several of the strips, but for me the highlight was Smith & Weston working on Stix.

A very worthy package but with a touch more attention it could have been first rate.

This was a great special. Normally with these specials you get a few of the stories that is not as great but this time around all the stories are good.

The art of the Death story was great and I would like to see more of Sahlstrom's work in the prog.

Chris Weston's work on Stix was great as always. What an awesome tribute on the back page by him to the great Carlos.
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

That's certainly a pistol-packing team!

For a moment I thought it was the same team who brought us Killing Time :-)
