Just a reminder that this is on early tonight because of Eurovision.

Don't miss out!

Someone should mention it's on at 6:30 tonight, not 7.

muh-meeee...

Yes, much better.  A bit Sapphire and Steel-ish I thought.

Mucho creepy. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally enjoyed that. :)

The Amstor Computer

That was fantastic. Nice and creepy, with the introduction of a fairly interesting new character and some nicely-done SFX.

...and they didn't fuck up the cliffhanger!

The Amstor Computer

Such a simple, creepy idea for the "monster", wasn't it? The moments when they wake up were very nicely done, and the use of some very unsettling camera angles throughout these scenes was a smart move.

The Amstor Computer

Erk!

A friend has just informed me of something possibly even more horrifying than the Empty People in this episode: a Doctor Who porn spoof!

It's called "Doctor Loo and the Filthy F**king Phaleks" (oh, how we laughed) and if you're *really* interested, I'm sure you can Google it. Suffice to say, it features "Shagbot Kay 9", the "TURDIS" and a planet called "Skrotum 4" and is unlikely to be winning any awards in the near future (or even the far future...)

Should we take this as an indicator of the popularity of the new show? Or perhaps not...

Didn't Viz do all that years ago with Doctor Poo?  They might still have the animation on their website.

Byron Virgo

I'd almost enitirely forgotten that - nice one Amstor, cheers!

Bolt-01

Thanks to watching it off my video (kids were getting ready for bed) I was able to stop the tape before the trailer. Hurrah!

A well spooky episode, really good fun.

POSS SPOILER:

Could the other space dude be the new 'master'?

Best episodes:

The Empty Child - Steven Moffat
Dalek - Robert Shearman
The Unquiet Dead - Mark Gattis

Crappier episodes: Russell T Davies

I'm biased in favour of the fantastic Steven Moffat of course but I despair of Russell's writing, the other writers seem to have a better grasp of horror and suspense, hold back from the cheap humour, and make a better job of the nonsensical and unlikeable character he's created.

I always thought they should probably have him officially stuck on Earth, travel only to the past and give him some kind of proper motivation - a mission from the Time Lords for example, rather than have him just some thrill seeker who enjoys seeing the Titanic go down at first hand etc.

I agree entirely about the writing. However, we should all bear in mind that the general plot for the entire season is Davies' as is the "feel" and direction of the new series.
