Finally seen this thanks to my postie and I like it.

It was wise to do such a simple story and if there is a sequel (everything is crossed for that) I hope they get a bit more ambitious with the storyline and show off more of the richness of the world, the politics, and the villians while keeping the vibe that has now been struck.

I wasn't sold on everything, but I'm not here to bash it because overall it gets a big thumbs up.

Some general thoughts. Slightly spoilerish.
It was much more violent than I expected (having avoided nearly every article or spoiler on the film) but it needed to be hard hitting. I was sceptical about the Anderson actress but she pulled it off, striking a believeable junxtaposition between looking young/vulnerable and being dour/serious/tough. The city was less advanced than that of the comics (normal style cars etc) - I'm guessing that was due to budget constraints. Lots of nice little touches such as the shop signs and graffiti peppered around the place. The helmet didn't look as stupid as it did on one of the only stills I had seen about a year ago - phew. Karl Urban was okay. It must be hard to dazzle as an actor in a role such as this, but I do feel that any number of people could have done just as good a job. Peach Trees was an awsome location but it failed to convince me that 75 thousand people lived there (I hope I heard that stat right when it was mentioned) - it just didn't have the scale, even with a tiny skate park sticking out the side.....

Overall very good. More please.

This is a daft enquiry and I know it isn't strictly ideal for this forum but being such undeniably creative and beautiful people I thought I would chance my arm.

Basically what I want to do is take some existing film footage and animate something over it, namely another face. The face doesn't have to be animated itself as long as it can move in line with the original head, and if it looks a bit rough and ready then that could actually add to the overall effect. This is for a joke you see, rather than anything professional.

I also need to be able to edit the soundtrack so that certain words can be inserted over the original dialogue at certain times.

If any of you have any ideas of how this could be achieved, what kind of software would be required etc then I would be most appreciative. If anyone has any notion of what diection to point me in (and kick me in the arse as I go on my way there) I'd also be very thankful.

Guys and gals. Can anyone recommend a decent website where I can buy this? Not having access to any comic shops is a bummer. I know I could ebay but I quite like the idea of a regular order (and to up my comic intake generally with other titles perhaps).

Dredd - Continues to crack on like the proverbial mother squeezer and I simply can't get enough. Huzzah to all involved in it's creation/ production/ distribution. 10/10

Flesh - I lost interest in this a while ago but I like the way the artist draws busts! In truth it isn't as terrible as I had feared when it had first started. 5/10

Zaucer - I have swung from abject hatred of this to mild appreciation several times over the course of it's run. I wish it would end however. I can't take much more of it. It is starting to depress me yet I have not skipped it in any issue - something I am not afraid to do to a strip that bores me (Red Seas, I'm looking at you) 3/10

Time Twister - I love the art, outstanding. Very nice little 4 pager which was interestingly told. 8/10

Cadet Anderson - Here indeed is proof that Yowell's art should always be coloured. Very cool and a nice counter point to the monumental scale of the Dredd saga. I'm guessing this is a 4 parter? 7/10

Overall, as it has been in recent months, a mixed bag that is buoyed up by the sheer delight that Day of Chaos brings to the table. It is nice to have the odd letters page from time to time too

You get 4 strips, each one approx twice as long than the 5-6 pages you normally get in the toothy prog. There is always a Dredd strip and typically one of the others comes from the Dredd universe. The other two can be a very diverse selection and although some really divide opinion (the recent American Reaper for instance) they are typically of a high standard. The selling point of the meg used to be touted that it was a more mature take on the judge system but the difference between it's stories and those of 2000ad has really narrowed over the years and the Meg very rarely gets proper 'epics' these days.

You also get a GN reprint of an old 2000AD series bagged with the main magazine and naturally this can also be hit and miss in quality. If you have missed out on a lot of the last 3 decades then it is a nice way to read some old stories and sometimes feels like a great cheeky bonus and sometimes like a bit of filler.

There are also written sections that concentrate on comics and comic culture in general. These typically take the form of an interview with a well known creator (usually a 2000ad/meg creator) along with the odd article here and there on any particular aspect of the medium. There is a film review section which concentrates on sci fi/ horror/ fantasy etc and is normally well written, and a letters page that rarely gets beyond 'I like that one, I disliked that one' opinions.

As a subscriber I love that special Saturday every month when this mag drops on my doormat along with 2000ad, usually because I don't keep track of when it is due and it is always a nice surprise. I do wish there was more of a focus on strips but I understand how tight the margins are in this market and as a completist I couldn't bare to miss out. Overall I would highly recommend you give it a whirl, and for at least a few months rather than a single issue.

Anyone know if the PC version works with a gamepad or only mouse and keyboard? This effects how comfortably I can play/ sit.

Ha - yeah sorry. I got distracted and then for some reason thought I could edit my original post a few minutes later.

Anyway here goes.

Dredd - Decent text book stuff. The meat and potatoes of mega city one stories, which is no bad thing.

Black Museum - A fun little tale. Awsome D'israeli art elevating it a few notches too. D'isreali has always been great but has just been getting stronger and stronger over the last few years.

Snapshot - I really liked this opener. The dialogue was well paced and interesting and the set-up was well paced. I look forward to the next episode.

Strange and Darke - Definitely the highlight. Great throbbing story with wickerman overtones but which stands on it's own. I'm adoring the art too - both MacNeil's drawing and the really warm and vibrant colour pallet. Great stuff.

Good meg this month. The only annoyance is the 'free' music track that I can't get to because I don't have a fancy phone to use the QR scan thingy. I am disappointment.
