As I'm sure almost no-one here has missed, there is going to be a little get together for Tharg and his minions this weekend. I'm more than ridiculously excited- frankly I've looked forward to this more than anything in the last year.
So as not to derail the main thread- I'm starting this one to see how many of us who frequent this place are going to be there.
Back in the day we managed to get a pretty awesome board photo at one of the Oxford Dreddcons, and more recently there was a sizeable group up at Hi-Ex, but this is potentially the greatest gathering of the Hive- ever.
So, who is coming?
I'm not just after current boarders- I'm also very interested to see if we can tempt any old boarders who may now just lurk to de-cloak and say hi.
So, I'll start.
Bolt-01 & Nano-Bolt (She hates that name so please use it all day :))
Who else?
Me!
et moi aussi!
Me!
There Friday as well, for setting up.
Barring some tedious work-related disaster, I should be around from about midday.
Me! :)
I'll be there, if I'm more vacant looking than normal it will be the late nights, last minute shoots and general ball-ache associated with working on the film.
I arrive on the Friday. HYPE!
I am Spartacus.
Dunk!
Dunk!
Yeah I'm going and frankly indecently excited. Really hope to find the time to catch up with some of the lively folks from these parts that I've meet before and a coupleasure I'd be chuffed to meet for the first time.
I'm going :)
filippo
I'm coming.
So glad I decided to! Really, really, looking forward to it.
Getting the train from Glasgow to London with the Satanist. 9.40 from Glasgow on Friday morning. Anyone else?
We will likely arrive around 3.00 on Friday.
It'd be good to put names to faces and meet on Friday. Also looking forward to meeting folks from the board who I feel I know but have never met.
Arrr I'm shooting through 9-5 on the Sat I reckon. :o
I will attend said event - should make landfall at about 12 noon on Saturday.
Are we all to wear a red carnation?
Lisa & myself will be there.
Me!

I'm catching the early train from Milton Keynes down to the Novotel on Saturday morning - decided to splash out on a First Class ticket so I can (hopefully) travel comfortably each way - so I'll be there. That said, I've no idea how I'd recognise any of the board regulars so assuming I don't actually meet any of you on the day I hope we all have a great time.

Oh I'm easy to spot I'm the one with the chimps head wearing a roman helmet from Asterix. Can't miss me. All the other chimps prefer Tintin.
I'll be there - have been doing spot repairs to the uniform, and polishing the helmet (oo-er missus) in anticipation.
Arriving late Friday evening, and hitting the DSDC event, and then turning up at the main event the following day as soon as my hangover will allow me.
I'll be there but due to work commitments the following day I'll be leaving about 5ish.
Look forward to meeting fellow boarders and Squaxx!
Cheers

I guess you two are going to be pretty out of it by the time I get there around 20:00!
I'll be there.
Will anyone attend the DSDC event (https://www.facebook.com/groups/692209697525241/permalink/1348213828591488/)?

You shall know me by the trail of dead......Or possibly the hat. Actually, let's go with the hat.
Me
Yup.
Staying in London Friday and Saturday night.
Anthrax gig on Friday night and hopefully some late beers afterwards then the main event on Saturday.
Hoping to get to the Cartoon Museum on Sunday too.
I'll be there (https://youtu.be/chJt4XDaZOc)

Hoping we can (drunkenly) arrange a (hungover) posse from the 40th to go to this on Sunday.
Dunk!
I'm coming over Friday evening, should reach the hotel around 7.00pm.
Regretfully flying into Stansted instead of the much handier Heathrow, but I couldn't pass up those €31 Ryanair flights.
Really looking forward to it- someone keep me posted on the Saturday evening boozer meet-up.
I'm crawling out of the woodwork...
Getting there for about 9am on Saturday I'm indecently excited about this event
I won't be there for most of the events, but I'll be there in the evening, so happy to meet for a drink etc, outside the convention area after.
I won't be there but hopefully some of you will still enjoy the event.
Long Time Lurker..
Heading from up North(Newcastle)
I'll be in the area from Friday Lunch Time, Beers.. then ruin the entire Saturday by being crippling hungover
really looking forward to it, first (and probably only) comic event I will ever go to
I'll be there hopefully meeting up Simon Belmont, Eamonn and the Southers.
I've got a conspicuous twin brother so say 'hi'
There is the expense of a trans-Atlantic journey that prohibits my being there *sigh*
Regardless, i look forward to seeing all your pictures and original art, and hearing about it!
Will there be anything in the way of YouTube broadcasts or videos during the weekend?
I'll be there from early Sat. Have an arduous 15 min or so District & Piccadilly line trip to get there
I hang around the forums but never comment much, or at all, but I will be there and I cannot wait, literally!
That's me on my way :)

This would be an excellent teaser poster for a Scotch horror film.
It's obvious from the main thread I too will be in attendance, but just saw this so thought I'd repeat that. I'm pretty excited too! I'm going to try my best to be that sociable person that sometimes comes out.

Me too! I don't get out much these days and don't know many people who are fans of the Galaxies Greatest Comic.
Very much looking forward to this!
Cheers
Have arrived safe and sound at my daughter's down in West Sussex, so I'll see you all on Saturday, now to psych myself up to say hello to as many of the boarders as possible :) , not the greatest at mixing with people :( but will definitely try my hardest.
filippo
Filippo- looking forward very much to finally meeting you.
You'll be okay, you'll soon see that we're not all as mad as we may appear on here. You'll wonder what the fuss was all about and have a shed load of awesome memories to take away from the weekend

I'll be on the 9.40 too. But travelling steerage, due to being organised and booking early unlike others I could mention. I will try not to think of what those in First Class are up to.
Life has been bonkers the past few weeks and I have hardly given this weekend a thought (!) Looking forward to it now though. Quite a bit :P

Cost £5 more than you paid, chum...
Not too late for an upgrade. Satanist and I shall be cogitating in the First Class Lounge with a hearty breakfast* around 9.15 tomorrow morning. You may carry our bags, should you wish.
Seriously, you should look into it. The upgrade is cheap - around £15 - and comes with food and beer.
Now - what to wear?
Do I don the 40th Subscriber T-Shirt for tomorrow or Saturday?
* Beer. I mean beer.
Just a reminder, if you're looking for somewhere to have a pint with like- minded folk tonight:

The 2000ad 40th anniversary bash is rapidly approaching and so a D.S.D.C. Evening is most definitely on the cards.
The D.S.D.C. 40th BASH will be held on Friday 10th Feb at the William Morris pub, which according to google maps is 7 minute walk (14 minute return stagger) from the Novotel Hotel, the location for the Con on Saturday.
7pm onwards is the official time but as 'Spoons do food (I can recommend the wings), I presume people may arrive earlier.
Look out for fellow Dredd/2000ad fans or people in Sexy D.S.D.C Tshirts.
As always "all are welcome"!
See you at the bar for "A Taste Of Justice". 👍🏻🍻
Pub details can be found HERE...https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/london/the-william-morris-hammersmith
Really sorry not to be participating in this great wildebeest migration, majestic nerds sweeping across the veldt to the shared thrill-pastures of their species, and all that guff. I wish you all the most zarjaz weekend of sketches, tat and hangovers. Polish those anecdotes, there will be a test later.
Actually- Tords, can you keep an eye on the place in case the dictators attempt a hostile takeover or 'owt?
No bother Bolt. I can only drink the half-dozen really dusty bottles over here, right?
Pity ye couldn't make Tordeldude.... Won't be.the same without ye. Z
Can't make up my mind what to go and see. My initial thought was the talks and don't worry too much about getting stuff signed. But if the talks are going to be on YouTube afterwards maybe I should concentrate on other stuff? What do people think about the live drawing? Can't decide if that will be interesting or a bit dull.
I'm seeing some of the talks and definitely Flint's live draw at the very least. I mean.... imagine seeing the hand guided by the mind there it'd be phenomenal.
I'be selected a few choice talks (and a couple of the signings) but made sure I've left some good blocks of time to work the floor and visit folks tables... oh and food guess I find a way to work that in...

Probably a bit late to weigh in but I'll be there! Sadly me cosplay dreams fell through (apart from the carefully sculpted beard, which now just makes me look vain) but I've got a name badge, so, ye shall know me by the name on my badge.
Just about to leave see you all there :)

All the best people are still here, Hawk. You, me, Trout, Goaty, Tips, Sharky, Old Tankie, Static Girl, Rogue Judge, Rately, Trent, Jayzus... Less of a birthday bash and more of a pruning of the dead wood, I'd say.
Aye TB!
Enjoy!

I can report I entirely enjoyed meself. Maybe two pints too many last night, but hey! The comic is only forty once.
Met so many creators it was almost unreal - only got my 3A prints signed (Ash was a total gent) and didn't get any sketches, but it was great to meet Richmond, Ming, Link Prime, Joe Soap, DanDontDare and I'll apologise for accosting Jim Campbell when the poor fella was trying to enjoy a quiet smoke.
Oh, and Bolt, Dode-C, Buttonman and Proudhuff!

Good lord! No apologies necessary — I had a great time, and everyone I met was, without exception, a genuine pleasure to talk to. I just wish I'd got there earlier, and/or had the stamina to stay up a bit later!
(Special mention to Pete Wells, however, simply to note that he's a total
gent
.)
My own failings aside, I thought the whole thing was fantastic and a huge credit to the comic, Rebellion, and to Owen and Michael and everyone else who pulled it together. I used to help organise a similarly-sized music event a few years back, so I (sort of) appreciate the amount of effort, stress and sheer hard work it takes to make something like this happen.
Damn, so many people I clearly missed!! Fingers crossed I'll catch up with you at other cons over the next few years - maybe the 41st anniversary..? :o :D
Apologies to all those who I did meet, and had to put up with my drunken over-excited nonsense. Cheers to Bad City Blue for helping me kick off the second singsong of 'Whiskey in the Jar' with Fabry!
