Tried to watch "Moulin Rouge" for the first time today. This one has dated badly too, though it's at a more rapid rate of decomposition than Grease. They pull sillier faces in this than in "American Reaper". It is a film that seems full of little elves, gnomes, pixies and twee little fairies. Add to that a truly atrocious soundtrack....do people really start singing Elton John songs after visiting a prostitute? I really couldn't have cared less about the characters, they were that unlikeable, like the singing.

What do you plan to do between Dredd no.1 and Dredd no.2? That's a few years to play around in. I have heard that "War and Peace" is a good read.

I might get hold of some slo-mo and try to read it, by the time I've finished it, I'll be ready for the next Dredd film.

He should get a dog like Lassie. That's a hound who can multi task: swimming, running
and climbing.

"Grease". This film must have cost two pence to make. I'd given up hope during "grease lightning" and quite nauseous by "oh Sandy". This would look atrocious on the big screen.  Crap costumes, crap songs and everyone talks in a silly voice.

As an image of womanhood Ma Ma is at the extreme end of a spectrum with the Virgin Mary or Eve at the other end.

What I think is so great is although she isn't a character from the comics, she's still totally a Judge Dredd villain who could easily have walked right off the pages of the comic. Dredd villains always have a certain quirkiness which is in some way identifiable as belonging in Dredd's particular world, and I think Ma-Ma is just a perfect fit. It's not easy to put into words but it's definitely there.

"A certain quirkiness"...?  she's addicted to drugs, gouges out eyes and bites off willys, skins people alive and throws them from 200 floors from a mega block and listens to their screams as if she's listening to Vivaldi!!!

Quirky? What would be your idea of a complete loony? Quirky!

No wonder people are choosing Looper over Dredd! They're all too shit scared to sit in the dark and watch it!  lol!

If I won the lottery I'd still blow it all on women and having a good time, I'm afraid. Happily, there is more chance of a Dredd sequel happening than there is of that.

Aye.....(sighs)... Well at least we can regard ourselves as the self elect.

It's down to "many" people being in the dark about what the film is about. They can"t, or won't let themselves, hear the music in it all. Most just want a quick fix. There are also depths to that film, which is quite differant to "many" action movies... I put this dowqn to the heritage of 2000ad and the amount of talent pooled into that publication over the decades.
