As of the 23rd September (at around 14:00 BST) we will being removing the ability to change your username / display name, so you have from now until then to choose what you would like to stick with.
Note: Any names that are deemed to be offensive will be changed by us without warning.
How do you change your name? I can't see where you would do this !

I can't decide if it is better to have my real name on show or my cool pretend internet handle.
WAYHEY - good call. Now whatcha gonna do all you Prof Bears and Saucey Franks?
Well i've already 'Mong'ed' out so, go ahead 500, flip the switch! PUNCH THAT SHIT!!!

The problem I've got is I want to change my name to Dr Feeley Good, this is the name I use on xbox and all the other forums I go on,but it is already taken by me !! In 2008 I had my then pc repaired and when I got it back no matter what I did I couldn't get back on the forum as SteveMillar,so I set up a new account as Dr Feeley Good,I only made 7 posts before Wake managed to sort my original account out and I haven't posted under that name since ...is there any way to merge the accounts or just wipe the other one so I can change my name ? If you see the posts I made as Dr Feeley Good it backs up my story....cheers
Try changing your name now...
Nice one...thanks a lot :D
Excellent policy! Nice one, 500 (if that's your real number).
Frank is not going to like this...

Sure, guys, we must remind Colin on 24th! :D

Depends if you ever want your postings on here to come up when a recruiter looks up your details after you apply for a job in $X years time.

Quick question: I changed my display name last week (talk about timing, huh?) and in my Account Settings it still shows my Username as the old name but my [Display] Name as the new one I want to keep going forwards:
I'm just wondering, after Sept 23rd will the Username (the one I can't edit) change to 'Arkwright99' or will it stay as my original forever? Not a big deal either way as long as my new display name sticks. :)

I'd better remove the 'Tim' part before it haunts me for life. ;)
What if I obtain a PHd or a knighthood or usurp a throne or some such and my title changes? Do I have to put in an official request with Rebellion?

You are aware The Monarch is a) a butterfly and b) a super villain inspired by said butterfly? Not everything has to do with your odd fantasies.

I think that those societies that give a child a name until they are old enough to chose their own have definitely got it right. Parents have a lot to answer for at times!

Nah. Either it takes two posts to work it out or the person is so anonymous that it doesn't matter what they're called.

I have a friend known as Mister Ed. When he gained his doctorate he continued to be known as Mister Ed. If you're planing on becoming Grand Emperor of the Universe, I'd change my name now. Be something to aim for.

Apoceclipse was just joking in this incidence, playing on the fact that the majority of their posts on this forum to date have been on
that thread...
Good thing I changed my Forum name a few months back then.
I'm happy with it now.
Can I be Frank for a minute?
*chortle*
I'm finding myself ludicrously conflicted on whether to eliminate that underscore from my name!
Capital crossbar I in Jim FTW
I think I'm sticking with Tiplodocus. I've kinda grown fond of him - he started out a bit of an ass-hat but has got better.

I met Jim once a few years back at the first Kapow convention. I've never met butch/frank / whatever name it is today. Basically I'm saying that I'm not biased on this topic but I agree with Jim. Usernames on here changing at the drop of a hat is a pain in the arse. I'm glad that the moderators are putting a stop to it.
One man's pain in the arse is another man's bit'o'fun.
I'm now considering making a change myself before it's too late. It was never meant to be forever, Joe.

I originally tried to register with just my first name but the system wouldn't let me. A moderator told me I would be able to change it to what ever I liked once my account was set up, but as it turned out you could only do that once you got full posting rights.
By then I had already made 50 odd posts as "Magnetica" and so never changed it.
Hmmm - decisions decisions....
I'm changing mine to "James Campbell". No underscore.
How about 'The Predictable Dr. X'? ;)
.
Good to see this decision has reduced incidences of users changing names and annoying* other boarders.

Damn it, if you can't beat them join them.
I always thought it was a mistake to use a character's name from one of my (unpublished) stories. (Plus there's the point of copyright with a certain manufacturer of lighters). Oh well...
I am always Goaty, everyone knew me.
It been featured three times on Dredd film!
Even I signed it Goaty on my illustrations!
what?
It's going to be 'Jesus Fucks!' or 'F'ckwitA**hole' for me. Which one speaks to me though ah, decisions, decisions. ::)
Is anyone going to start a book on who either forgets or isn't able to change their name in time.
Personally I hope The Gold at the end of the Brainbow is here to stay!
Me being a memory shy fuckwit I've bottle it and changed mine back already. Which of you wil hold out the longest. Username chicken anyone?

So is CET = BST +1 or +2...
So much for brinkmanship.
Much as I hate Tordelback, I can no longer deny my past. Let a superfluous capitalisation stand as memorial to all those other potential virtual me's.
Although if Yortlebluzzgubbly had been available, I'd have stuck with that.
and names should now be locked
