Announcements / Re: Dave Evans, R.I.P.
07 May, 2021, 01:07:53 PM
Oh man. I saw the news on Twitter and had to reactivate my account to post my condolences.

I remember Bolt-01 back in the days of 2000adreview - he was so generous with his words and time. I remember reading Dogbreath in 2004-5ish and thinking it was such a cool tribute to Strontium Dog.

My thoughts are with his family and all that called him friend.

Off Topic / Re: RIP W. R. Logan
23 May, 2016, 11:44:27 AM
Just heard this message on Twitter. I only ever met Logan once, at a Dreddcon over a decade ago, but this news still shocked me. He helped me out when I was writing a dissertation on 2000AD and I almost certainly didn't thank him (and everyone else who helped out) nearly as much as he deserved.

RIP.

Still reading, of course! But I've making the jump to digital (another reason for the clearout).

Sorry sheldipez, just logging back in to say that everything's been claimed now! Thanks everyone who contacted me about them - glad they're all going to good homes!

Hi there,

Due to various house moves, I've got a whole heap of progs and megazines that I'm looking to pass on to a good home. I'm not really interested in selling them - I'll send them to anyone for just the posting & packing costs. I don't really have the time or inclination to ebay them, so it's this or the charity shop for them.

Here's what I've got to give away:

PROGS:
1352, 1357, 1358, 1360, 1361, 1363
1365-1517 (complete run)
1567-1719 (complete run)
1724

MEGS:
209-248 (complete run)
267-304 (complete run)

SPECIALS:
Prog 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009

Pretty much everything is in great condition - there may be an issue here and there they might be a bit tattered, but they are a mere handful among hundreds. Like I said above, any and all of the above can be yours if you're willing to pay the postage and packing, or totally free if you're willing to come to South London and pick them up.

Breathing Space makes even less sense than I remember it making when it first appeared in the weekly.

Some friends of friends had a few words with Dave Gibbons about Watchmen - thought it might be of some interest:

I haven't used this board in a long, long while, but I feel compelled to sing the praises of Dante this week. Simply stunning.

This is a sad day for 2000AD, and comics in general. Condolences to his family.

General / Re: This could be the biggest mist...

Even if Dredd dies, they can still run stories with him in a "Tales of Judge Dredd" manner set in his past. Okay, so they won't be any world-changing continuity-altering mega-epics, but I guess you could still run something similar with Rico and Giant, or just have past-Dredd stuff that wouldn't need to shake MC1 to the foundations.

Overall: Not worried about the future of Dredd at all.

Film & TV / Re: ...NEW DR WHO TONIGHT, 24/06/0...

POTENTIALLY MASSIVE SPOILER

BBC Blurb with regards to final episode to this seris:

It's the end of an epic journey as two mighty armies wage war across the Earth, with the human race caught in the middle. But as an unstoppable terror emerges from beneath Torchwood, the Doctor faces an even greater dilemma ? does saving the world mean the death of Rose Tyler? David Tennant plays the Doctor and Billie Piper plays Rose.

Suggestions / Re: 2000AD Theme Park.

Well, there's always the MEGA-SPINNER

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

You can just about make out the badly-daubed movie-inspired Hammerstein, Dredd and Mean Machine on the backboard.

Call of Cthulhu does Event Horizon? That's gonna sh!t up some seven year-olds tonight!

Apart from the rather silly name of the acting-captain (Zak Crossfire or something equally gung-ho dumb) and the fact that someone in the music department has been watching too much Firefly for my liking, that was fupping class from start to finish.

I specifically have put off learning to drive because of the image of Herring writheing around in banknotes wearing nothing but pants and brown leather driving gloves has prevented me from feeling anything other than a mix of fear/manic amusement at driving instructors.
