Dear Tharg
I'd like a nostalgic 2000AD book looking back at all the free gifts, send-aways, posters and some fan artwork submitted by future droids.

So, yes, re-release the Bio-Tronic stickers, the Spinner, the choice of a t-shirt with Prog 1 heroes on it, the lovely cutaways of the Lawmaster, posters of certain artists (The New Masters) and some cover art without logos.
Star Wars has done these sort of memorabilia repro books in multiple formats. I think it would be a great nostalgia read and also stop some of the retro bootlegging. Maybe even a set of codes to download the stories from the first 100 progs etc.

Suggestions / How about this for a "Premium Subscription"?
29 September, 2023, 01:33:37 PM
Dear Tharg

I would consider paying twice as much for my subscription if each week came with a duplicate 'virgin' copy of the Prog with no text or logo on the cover - just the artwork.

But only if it came in a cardboard envelope as well.

So one copy to read, one to save/treasure.

What do you think?

So it's 45+ years ago so you could just say it's too late.
But I think there's an audience of a certain age who would pay a premium to see this strip completed in a premium way.
With KS there's no real time pressure and it could be serialised to off-set costs as long as the collection was exclusive.

Could be a fun way to conclude one of 2000ADs un-completed series...

Hi guys

I won't spoil anything but I thought this week's 2000AD/Meg crossover was incredible fun.
I'd like it in a more permanent edition (hardback)
And if there were any more tales that could be told, I think there's alot of fun to be had in an extended edition.

Well done to all - not least Leigh Gallagher and Henry Flint...

Judge Anderson PSI Files Vol 2
Rogue Trooper Tales of New Earth Vol 3

(any others...?)

It's really exciting to know there's a whole comic in Battle that I know very little about.

Any chance of providing a volume way (ie Digital bundle) to open up all these great stories like HMS Nightshade etc.

I love Digital comics because I'm running out of room.

But they are relatively heavy files to store on a tablet so inevitably they end up on a hardrive and once they are out of sight, they are out of mind.

I would pay more for a Digital version but with the format (presumably memory sticks or even cool looking DVDs) sat inside a hardback spine so I could see them on the shelf.

I know this sounds a but antiquated but the container itself could have extras or art prints.
It's not that different to the Warner Bros releases of big albums like Prince Sign o'the times. You get the download files but a physical version that looks great on the shelf

Rogue Trooper volumes would have to be on three familiar memory chips thought, right?

There appeared to be a lot of interest in the 2000AD prog zero and the banned issue of Action that came with the Action 2020 Special.

So my idea would be as a premium subscription re-issue the first year of Action/2000AD as a flipbook prog by prog - so in week one you get 2000AD prog 1 back to back with Action 1.

I think a lot of people would love the subscription idea of a 'first year' collection of both titles - back to back - so they couldn't be mistaken for the originals...

any chance of:

Judge Dredd Fortnightly mock-up - Judge Anderson / Helltreckers / Blockers etc.
Zarjaz - the Warrior rival mock-up - with the Mick McMahon painted cover
Alternity / Earthside 8 - both versions

That's all...

I've just picked up the Titan Book Alan Moore's Twisted Times and there's an incredible cover and introduction from Alan himself.
I'd love this.

But then I do like introductions and I wouldn't mind a digital collection of all the Matt Smith/Molcher essays & intros from the Hachette partworks. I do like reading about comics.

Blank Sketch covers - say of the next jumping on prog would be very welcome.
I'd certainly pay a premium for them or buy in bulk.
To my knowledge only IDW offered a Dredd one once.

Events / Thought Bubble - 2021 - who's going?

Let us know if you're going...
Any artists that you're looking forward to seeing?

I know this is highly unlikely to be near the top of anyone's agenda
But is there a way to put on a 45th bash maybe by bringing in a partner company (who may run an existing type of convention)

My thinking is that it really did seem to bring old reader's back in to the fold.
And frankly the 50th seems such a long way.

I know it's a 'no' but maybe with a partner who was willing to take it on?

So this week 2000AD ended up this week with three Dredd-world strips.
I didn't mind but online this concentration was greeted with a resounding "But that is the job of the Meg"

So what if the remit of the Megazine was changed. And it featured old-school 'classic' characters set in their prime continuity. So more Rogue Trooper (a la Cinnabar) or Zombo or Nikolai Dante adapted from the novels.
Anything goes but old-school characters in new stories.

And then 2000AD is Dredd with the new world stories. The Brinks. Feral & Foe. So unchanged.
Would this attract more than 50% numbers to the Meg?

Dear Tharg
I've made many suggestions with no acknowledgement. Big Dave says 98.7% of 2000AD readers would enjoy a Mark Millar edited collection of Purgatory + Inferno and all the Summer Offensive stories with a new art bookplate by Steve Parkhouse and Steve Yeowell with Big Dave and Maniac 5 in the pub.

Compile it with all the excesses of the 90s so maybe the failed 90s advertising campaign, the Loaded Dredd cover and a repro of both SEX issues.

Tharg you know it makes sense. And thanks for the chat.

Hachette are no longer allowing new subscribers to 2000AD as they dont have early books
I'd buy a lot of the books but the spine image looks ugly unless you have the full set

Sell Dust Jackets that have the title on the spine.
I'd buy Dominion, Insurrection and the Nemesis ones if this was the case. Heck put me down for Dante in HC.

i prefer to read the print versions of 2000ad and the Meg
i like getting them early and I decide which tpbs I'll buy. So now Megatropoils and Dreadnoughts are on my list.

But I haven't got the space to keep 52 progs and 13 megs a year.

I know Rebellion don't want to offer a combi Print & Digital subscription simultaneously, so how about this...
A physical subscription that offers you Digital versions at the end of the calendar year
So you read all year the physical copies and then in the full knowledge that at year end you will get Digital versions, you can either keep or share the physical copies.

No-one has enough room for 45 years worth of progs & megs. It's now more than a rooms worth. I would pay Physical + £2 extra a month for this option.
