Nicholas Cage is remaking The Wicker Man!
The new version will have a clever twist that will differentiate it from the original: it'll be crap.

Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

Yes, I read that again today...if ever there was a contender for an 'untimely accident during filming' this would be it.

Surprise, surprise, they're moving it to the States.

Heresy!  Burn 'im!

why dont our film studios get off their backsides and start making re-write movies?..

How about a flick where it was merrie old england who staged a fake moon landing..

or

the UK win the War of Independance from the evil tyranny of Mad King George(Washington).. perhaps played by Tom Hanks?..

we could get square jawed Clive Owen to quoth the appropriate patriotic cliches for the trailers..

"NO!"

Surely that should be "No! Dear lord, No! Don't burn me, aiiie!"? in full Edward Woodward style?

This movie really doesn't seem a very good idea, especially as Americans already have an equivalent film  in the form of  Deliverance.

I'm not sure the idea of a village of Pagans that burns Christians would really hold water in an American setting either... Perhaps if it were a village of Christiansd burning Pagans it would make more sense.

wow..now he looks like Tom Hanks...the one on the right

Christopher Lee and Robin Hardy are still planning a sequel to the Wicker Man themselves, it may not be a great idea after all this time but I'd stick with the original big guns over Cage's planned remake anyday.

Don't worry about Nicholas Cage

His time will cccoooooommmmmeee.
He's only trying to be what following how his dreams make you wanna be, man!

Something that'll never be taken away from us, though, is the chuckle-tastic memory or what happened to Cage just before Lisa-Marie dumped him and divorced him. Hehehe.

Of course you realise in the remake he'll rescue the girl and escape the island. Call in the national guard (as played by Bruce Willis) and the second half of the movie will be them slaughtering everyone (sorry I mean engageing in a police action)

As with the Psycho remake, it just begs the question "why?" and the answer is usually "for money, you dolt, why do you think?"

Mind you, some remakes are good (Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, for example).  It's just that when there's nothing visibly wrong with the original, why re-invent the wheel?  Oh yeah...money.

So they're kinda copying http://www.britishhorrorfilms.co.uk/darklands.shtml>Darklands in that respect, which is way beyond post-modern if you think about it too much.
