Just taken a look at your website. Interesting stuff.

OK, I'll just keep it at 4 and send it off. Thanks again for the advice.

I suppose if it's great (fingers crossed) but four pages and they want five they can ask for another page.

Thanks Dan, and we'd happily have more of your great work in the future.

Just a note to anyone thinking of submitting: It would be good if you could send me the script or rough sketches/thumbnails or both before doing the whole thing just in case I have any editing suggestions.

Hi everyone,

I'm the (sub-) editor of a new small press quarterly anthology called 9th Art Magazine. It's a not for profit venture; neither you nor we will make any money from this but we have funding to print at least 10,000 high quality copies (like 2000AD or DC/Marvel quality) which we're working on FP and other local comic shops to give away. Yes, it's free!

Here are some links to our magazine:

https://twitter.com/#!/9thArtMagazine

If you do want to read the issues online, they're read using a flash animation. It's not obvious at present (will fix soon) but you have to pull down the top right hand corner of the page by clicking and dragging with your mouse. You'll also see on the front cover that it says it's a student publication. Don't worry about that, anyone can write for us.

We'll be at the Comica Comiket on April 21st in London:

You can contact me at 9th.art.cambridge@gmail.com

I've posted info about contributing in the Creative Commons forum if you're interested

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!

Hi everyone,

I'm the (sub-) editor of a new small press quarterly anthology called 9th Art Magazine. We get our funding through generous donations from various art funds and individuals, and while the magazine is free, people can donate what they think it's worth. We're always looking for new writers and artists and there is a lot of talent in these forums. We want to be a platform for new talent to get spotted in the industry.

The submission deadline for our next issue is April 20th, so we're leaving it a bit late for that, but if you are interested, our theme is Frontiers, we're looking for submission between 1 and 4 pages either from writers or artists or both (we can pair you up with someone if you only write or do the art). Scanned images should be at least 300dpi and the pages (without borders) are an odd 14cm by 21.5 cm (width by height). Feel free to email me material for future issues too.

Thanks Mardroid.

I guess I'll write to Matt Smith and check. Do you know if there's an editor's email address or do I have to actually post my query (not very "the future").

BTW, I'm running a new small press magazine call 9th Art Magazine:

I'm about to put up some posts in the Books and Comics forum and the Creative Commons forum. Would be great to read your scripts.

Hi everyone!

I'm sure this has come up before but I can't find it on the forums.

I'd like to submit a Future Shock script to 2000AD, however, I am unsure as to what the length should be. On this page:

http://www.2000adonline.com/submissions/

They say at one point that they should be four pages and in other places that they should be five. Looking back at past, published future shocks, they vary in length (some really old ones as short as 2 pages). Here are quotes from the page:

"... if you've never had a script published in 2000 AD, you should start by sending in ideas for one-off, four-page Future Shocks. You've got to learn to walk before you can run."

and then:

"Future Shocks are self-contained, five page science-fiction short stories ..."

Thank you for your help!

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading 2000AD on and off for 16 years (the off parts were because my parents banned it. The iniquity of it!). I've joined to be part of the community but I've also just got involved in a new anthology. The comic is FREE and NO ONE MAKES ANY MONEY OUT OF IT (editorial team, creators etc), so I don't think it could be seen as in competition with 2000AD. The aim is to be another platform for new talent. I wanted to see if there was anyone in the Creative Commons section of the forums who might be interested in contributing something but thought I'd ask permission first. Note, NFP stands for "not for profit" and not "natural family planning."

Looking forward to chatting to you all!
