Love it - "I don't care if it's not Bing Crosby - it stinks!"

TUNE!

Magic - love that song. Going to try to dig up the 'Into the dragon' album that was on - not listened to it in about 20 years I reckon.

First album I paid for with my own shiny coins was "Pump" by Aerosmith - up until then, from about 83 to 89, my mum (bless her) had helped feed my rock/metal needs....she didn't even baulk at getting my Appetite for Destruction in 87.

First single - that was Bomb the Bass "Don't make me wait" in 1988. TUNE!!!

I bumped into Gary Moore once...., right outside of my workplace.  That was a massive thing for me.  When I was a teenager he was my idol - I've seen him so many times in concert, and listen to his stuff to this day.

I coldn't let it pass, so ran after him and said 'Excuse me, are you Gary Moore?'  (stupidest question ever - it most definitely was)

My answer was a surly 'No'.  He carried on walking.

I called after him, 'Well, nice to meet you, Run for Cover is one of my favourite albums.'

'Cheers mate' he said, not even turning to acknowledge me, raising a hand as if in dismissal.

Miserable bastard.  Never meet your idols eh?

He's dead now.

That last line is a cracking piece of deadpan delivery.

Met Steve Tyler, of Aerosmith, the day after a gig in Dublin where a fan died after taking a header off a balcony during a Steve Vai support slot. What originally was going to be a 1-minute "Can you sign this for me?" turned into a 2 hour sit down over a coffee after I asked him whether they had thought of calling off the gig the night before....he, and the band, had no idea what had happened and he wanted to sit down for a while to chill out. F'ing brilliant chat.
