I am still contemplating having the snip for quite a while now. Was banking on the missus going through the menopause early but can't see that happening. She has just turned 37 so may have quite a few years to go as looking at quite a few sites the average age is about 51.
It looks like snippadee doo dah for me.

V

Had it done in 2006. Uncomfortable for 2-3 days but nothing more. Better for my other half who got to come off the pill and better than encasing the damn thing in Boing!

Good Lord, Banners!  Bag the prog thread, man!  BAG THE PROG THREAD!
I gave him an eight minute head start (although mine plopped through the door at 8.58 am) and he still failed.
Poor show.  ;)

Prog / Re: Prog 1849: All good things...

Slaine.
From what I can tell from the small thumbnail it's only the character on the cover which has changed. The background looks the same, or similar at least. Difficult to tell from the small thumbnail.
I will know more on Wednesday.

Prog / Prog 1849: All good things...
07 September, 2013, 11:58:16 AM
Must come to an end...If you like that sort of thing...Which many clearly did not.
I have clearly managed to bag this thread because of the message which was posted up on fb not so long ago; "Hi everyone, just to give you a heads up - we've had notice from our distributors that, due to problems beyond their control, Prog 1849 was a day late arriving in the warehouse and so it is unlikely that subscribers will receive their copies today. Apologies for this."

Which is ironic because my weekly Saturday Prog has, for the last four weeks, been arriving on a Monday except last weeks which arrived on a Tuesday  >:( Perhaps I am being rewarded for my patience.

As everyone knows this is a 'story end' Prog where all current story lines end and Prog 1850 is a jumping on point.

Damage Report: Sounds like Zenith is getting closer and closer...

Dredd: Ends as you would expect. Solid writing and art throughout. Is it mean or is Dredd getting soft in his old age?

Age of The Wolf: Lost the plot of this one a while back. Now it's complete perhaps I ought to try again.

The Ten-Seconders: Loved the first three episodes of this then it appeared, to me at least, to disappear up it's own backside. Again, my need to re-evaluate now that it's complete.

Slaine: Nice art from the Langley droid (although Bisley's was, imo, still the best of the six parts). I enjoyed this and the final episode is perhaps the best written of the lot.

Next week splash on the back cover. Dredd, Flesh, Damnation Station and Brass Sun. Sounds like fun!

Oh, and it's another darn variation cover, of which I snagged 2 of 2. So a trip to my local thrill merchant is in order for Wednesday after all  >:(

Off Topic / Re: Star Trek - Official Starships Collection

I read the first 15 or so of the Marvel Graphic Novel Collection but have stopped reading but am still collecting.
For me, I have to be in the mood to read them and I'm not at the moment but I will be again one day.
Thankfully (for the bank account anyway) we have less than a year to go (April 2014) and the collection will be complete.
I think it will be a fine collection too.

Hmmmm, saw some adverts on TV for that Doctor Who collection.  Not something I am looking to get into but would be interested to see what they look like 'in the flesh'.  It does seem strange that these are all kicking off now, isn't this normally a January thing?

Bought the first Doctor Who issue. The sculpt of the Doctor is piss poor imo.

Also bought the first Star Trek one. Nice model but that's as far as I go. Went along way into the Marvel and DC figurine collections and they are nothing but dust collectors. Luckily managed to actually turn a profit on them when I banished them all to eBay.

Prog / Re: Prog 1848: Gods and Monsters!

My subs copy finally turned up this morning and because of that I have avoided making contact with this thread until after I had devoured prog 1848.

Now I find myself in disagreement with much has been posted, and that's fair enough.
Personally I loved Mick's cover and thought that the Bisley artwork on Slaine is some of the best stuff I've ever seen in the Prog since 1977.
And I wrote Tharg to tell him so.
So ner.  :D

Third week on the trot that the Prog has failed to materialise on a Saturday.
Suppose it makes Mondays more bearable  :eh:

Read "Catcher In The Rye" yesterday for the fourth time (but the first time in at least ten years), and then read Pierre Boulle's "Monkey Planet" (Planet of the Apes to you and me) today.

Loved the Ten Seconders.
The rest was up to it's usual standard.
Good prog, but not memorable.

I'd call it one worse, at least financially speaking. I admire the sacrifice you are making for your son, however.

Cheers.

If only that were true

Obviously circumstances vary. I will say though that my wife is unable to work for medical reasons and doesn't receive any benefits for reasons I won't go into. I do a full time job in which I earn, admittedly, significantly more than minimum wage. But it's still less than double minimum wage. So looking at it that way, my wife and I each survive on less than minimum wage - and I still stand by the above, for our (less than salubrious) circumstances. YMMV.

And I'll, maybe, go one better.
My Wife earns significantly better than minimum wage. However I am the full time primary carer of a precocious Son that deserves a better school than he is getting. This costs money but is worth it. More worth it than a book.
Our major luxury outlay is Sky Sports each month. We love our sports. Zenith is about 6 months of this subscription. Should I be selfish and demand that we drop it for six months?
Our food bill is made up of 'every day' items from Tesco. We are scrapping the barrel there and being creative.
Simply put I do not have £100 to spend on a book without compromising the lifestyle of my child and Wife, which is something I will not do.

Yes, circumstances differ but don't, for an instance, think that £100 is justified in any or every household.

I sincerely wish it were but it's not.

There endeth the moan  ;)

Would love to buy this, but couldn't justify £100. To the mrs, I tried though lol

They were, and still are, very easy to find on eBay. From Comic shops. Whom are only charging for postage.
Posting them as free downloads defeats the object of the exercise somewhat, doesn't it?
