I assume originally Jabba was a small time mafiosa type character  who needed to personally threaten and interact with the likes of Solo, hence I suppose the meeting in the launch bay. I don't have a difficulty with the maximisation of the character up to a Fat veronicalleoid super boss.....but! Z

Think I saw a pic of the 'original' Jabba (from that scene) a few years ago, a chubby Friar Tuck-a-like if I recall.
Apparently with an Irish accent. Or did I just make that up?

You can see the original scene here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Sf4eb9l__4

It was pretty awful and needed to be cut from the original movie. That said it is still better that the terrible reworked version for the special editions .

Anyone interested in seeing the original trilogy in its original form should check out the Despecialised editions. These are fan edits but are far superior in picture quality to any official version and they also have all of the special edition additions removed.

I was once someone else's lame claim to fame.

I was staying in the US a few years back in Indiana, the hotel I was staying in was on one of the main routes to Indianapolis and was used by a lot of motor racing teams. I was having a beer and a bite to eat at the hotel bar when this guy came up to me and was convinced that I was a famous racing driver.

I told him he was mistaken but he seemed to take that as a sign that I was indeed who he thought I was but just wanted to be left alone. When I went to settle up after I had finished eating, I found that he had paid my bar bill for me  :D.

There was a really interesting program about EVP on Radio 4 recently - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01rg1gh

Personally, I think that the whole thing can be explained by recordings picking up radio interference and the brain finding finding patterns in random sounds.

I was at a works conference a few years back at a hotel in Stratford upon Avon and there was a free bar in the function room we hired, so naturally I was profoundly drunk.

I had staggered off to the toilet when I was approached by this guy and his girlfriend who wanted to know if there was still a bar open in the hotel. All the other bars were shut so I ushered them into our function room and told them to say they worked for us if the bar staff asked, but they were sussed right away and asked them to leave.

It turned out that the guy was Jason Orange out of take that, I was completely clueless until the ladies from the office told me afterwards.

Tom Felton Meets the Superfans - as saw it on BBC3 last night, thought it was interested as Tom Felton meet many superfans, some was bit creepy, and meet many Cosplay fans at NEC, some Judge 2012 Cosplays was featured.

Thanks for posting that Goaty, I was at that con at the NEC with my Daughter (mad Harry Potter fan) and I didn't know this existed.

I'm pretty interested in the streaming box they've got coming out, got a decent gaming PC but if it'll let me stream my games to the living room telly I'd play a lot more PC games. It's hooked up in the spare room, and it's cold in there.

Same here, I already have a meaty gaming PC so I am only really interested in the streaming box for now. I already have a setup with an old potato of a PC under my TV and I'm using the Steam streaming function to game in my lounge with the main PC upstairs doing all the heavy lifting.

It wouldn't be too difficult for anyone to do a similar setup, just grab a used small form factor PC off Ebay and get a wireless Xbox pad hooked up to it. The whole thing would probably only cost as much as a couple of new games and give you the same experience as the Steam branded thing when it comes out.

Cheers Cheech - got Runespell for m'Geoffery who is fond of the card-based RPG scene!  :D

If Geoffery isn't aware of it already, point her in the direction of Hand of Fate, it's a hybrid card based / action RPG. I've been playing it for the past couple of weeks now and its pretty great.

After the disappointment of Godzilla I am a bit concerned that Edwards will make a Star Wars movie that cuts away from the action just as things get interesting or just gives us glimpses of things going on in the background while we get to watch a bunch of boring two-dimensional characters.

My car has radar all round and detects how close you are to other vehicles and will flash up a warning light if I get too close to the car in front, at 70 on the motorway it seems to work on a gap eqivalent to 2 chevrons like the one in Banner's example A.

The majority of lorries these days are fitted with speed limiters, keeping them to around 55 to 57 mph. It's a pain, to be honest, and makes these half-hour overtakes frustratingly common.

Its a shame lorries aren't fitted with distance limiters as well, it feels like lorry drivers have collectivity decided that safe stopping distances no longer apply to them. I do a fair amount of miles each week and I'm getting pretty fed up of only being able to see the front grille of a truck just behind my back seat every time I go through a speed restriction or heavy traffic on the motorway.
