Title: Luc Besson Developing American Flagg! TV Series
Post by: JOE SOAP on 26 September, 2017, 03:16:34 AM
Another future-cop show with a satirical bent goes into development.

Luc Besson's EuropaCorp has acquired the rights to Howard Chaykin's American Flagg! for development as a television series (http://deadline.com/2017/09/europacorp-acquires-american-flagg-comic-book-series-television-development-1202176052/).

Concentrating on making more USTV content is part of the new scaling-down strategy at EuropaCorp after the financial disappointment of Valerian.

In the wake of "Valerian," which cost $180 million to produce, EuropaCorp is expected to cut its English-language slate to two to three movies per year, compared with five or six previously, with modest budgets from $25 million to $35 million apiece, according to a source close to the company. The studio will continue to make two to three French films per year and will likely ramp up its TV business in the U.S., which has been profitable with franchise-based series such as "Taken."

It would be pretty hard to adapt these days, considering it became a documentary.

Yep. It's almost period drama these days  :-\
Never the deepest, a TV series could end up focusing on CGI cats and robots. Could be fun, in fact.

Good news, regardless of how it turns out. Nice payday for Mr Chaykin and finally the comics trawling gets to the good stuff  :)
