Did Ampney Crucis finish up, or was it left dangling?

Off Topic / Pilgrim - BBC Radio Drama recommendation
01 March, 2016, 11:10:25 AM
A series that I stumbled across years ago on a filesharing website has finally been collected into one, easily listenable page on the BBC website, just in time for a new series (which is stored on a different page, but trust me so much better now).

So - Pilgrim.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00xmbyz

The tales of William Palmer, a pilgrim who was cursed by the king of the greyfolk to live forever, who acts as a kind of servant to the king - a mortal agent trying to keep humanity safe from the capricious whims of the fair folk and myths among them. In lesser hands this could be a bit of a twee concept but this series is truly wonderful. Dark stories of the secret places, folklore and grey folk of Britain. A real gem in the BBC radio archives and now finally available all in one place.

If you like Neil Gaiman, Pratchett, fairy tales, fantasy or anything along those lines it's great. A long running story of wondrous things and dark forces - I would check it out ASAP.

Help! / Help me find Mouse Guard Winter 1152
20 August, 2015, 02:31:05 PM
Hi guys,

My wife collects the (stunningly beautiful) Mouse Guard but sadly it seems this is incredibly hard to find, as she has the unerring knack of choosing small print indy comics that are out of print and have changed publishers several times.

Sadly at the time we bought the first book from Daves in Brighton, we saw volume 2 on the shelves but had no money to purchase it. So my quest to check every comic book shop in the land for an extant copy has continued.

Would any of you kind gentlemen please keep an eye out in your local comic shops? If you see the 'standard' colour version of the collected volume of Mouse Guard: Winter 1152 and let me know the comic book shop in question, you will help me make a small woman very happy.

I imagine either I ring the comic shop and order by phone or one of you squaxx goes above and beyond and I purchase it from you, if you follow me. Normally I wouldn't ask keyboard strangers such a thing but you're all rather nice, even when you bicker there's a good hearted thing going on there.

It is this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mouse-Guard-Winter-David-Petersen/dp/1848565291 - but based on the other volumes, much cheaper in a proper comic shop.

Thanks all!

Inspired by http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/02/12/the-armchair-designer-judge-dredd/#more-268187

Pitch a 2000AD game! For now I'm just going to say I love the top few, relatively low budget ideas in the article bar 22ND CENTURY DEMOCRACY. Think a Telltale-style Judge Dredd (or many other thrills) game could actually be pretty bloody good, but also love the idea of Zombie Smasher style Block War game.

Off Topic / Any PC tech types?

Now that games like Alien ISO need 4gb minimum, the time has forced my hand to rejuvenate my ageing tower - but since the motherboard can only handle 4gb max and is DDR2, this rejuvenation will only bring it back to middle age.

I'm looking for 2x2gb of DDR2 RAM. Unfortunately I've never wrapped my head around bus rates and other such details. Would anyone be able to give me a few suggestions or tips on what to look for?

I'm hoping to keep the spend minimal as it's a plaster on a rig that needs more updates down the line; so far my best guess has been Novatech:

Just to say that if you ever liked old school X-Com, you should check this out. Only game I have ever backed before release and early access was promising but flawed - now I am fully happy with my war against the alien forces. Time units, base management, rookies and silly tactics like suicide bomb rushes into packed UFOs are all back the way they were in the old days with a shiny interface and some beautiful animations.

Prog / Kingdom - still to come?
26 March, 2014, 12:54:08 PM
Am I right in thinking Kingdom ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with Lizzie being taken up to a space station by a newly unfrozen survivor and Gene being still on the ground, battered and bruised?

That is at least, the last thing I remember from the big dog of the prog (ok, maybe the no.2 big dog after Alpha).

Only the 2000AD FB account told me no new Kingdom is expected in the prog and this cliffhanger makes me sad.
