General / Complete Nemesis Vol 3?
16 October, 2007, 06:20:08 PM
Hi all,

I've just finished vol two of the complete Nemesis - am I right in thinking we're now up to the colour issues? will these be printed in balck and white a la' the Marvel essentials? I'm not sure it would work given the somewhat murky look of some painted stuff....

But it has to be said Mastodon were shite.  VERY shite.

I tend to lurk around another board called 40k online - mainly because I like 40k and they tend to get some good previews of minis etc. but mainly becuase they're not a bad bunch, and the trolling is at a low level.

HOWEVER.... I very rarely venture onto the discussion board - but I had to show you this thread.... only an American could think this, and not be ironic!

Books & Comics / Kaleb Daark....
06 August, 2006, 11:25:02 PM
I've come across references to a comci strip that John Wagner and Alan Grant wrote for the Citadel Journal back in the 80's - the characters name was Kaleb Daark.

Does anyone remember this? As Wganer/Grant owned the IP GW has expunged any / all mention from their 'fluff' and I thought you guys may have an idea (I'm looking at you Logan......)

General / Mongoose RPG books....
29 July, 2006, 03:03:39 AM
I own the old, (now seem very old) Judge Dredd RPG books from GW - and I still enjoy reading them!

Question is - As I dont play RPG's any more, are the Mongoose books worth buying simply to read?

'July 18, 2006 Los Angeles, CA? Boom! Studios announced today the launch of a comic book series based on Games Workshop Group PLC?s tabletop war game Warhammer 40,000. The UK based company selected Boom! Studios to create a series exploring the rich Warhammer 40,000 universe that will satisfy their most ardent fans while still being accessible to those looking for an awesome Science Fiction story.

"We are thrilled to be in business with one of the biggest powerhouses on the entertainment landscape worldwide," BOOM! Studios publisher Ross Richie stated. "Games Workshop is a truly innovative business manufacturing, distributing, and retailing their own product and creating some of the most exciting Intellectual Property to work on. This is going to herald a great new era for BOOM!."

The Warhammer 40,000 series will debut in San Diego with a special preview book for sale at the Boom! studios booth (1531), with issue #1 set for release in the month of October.

Warhammer 40,000 is set in a dark, forbidding, future, ravaged by thousands of years of conflict. Across this gothic universe armies struggle for victory in a battle to the death. Foremost among Humanity?s defenders are the fearless Space Marines: genetically engineered super-warriors who are armed with the best weapons available. Supporting them are the vast armies of the Emperor, made up of legions of men and the tanks of the Imperial Guard. Against these loyal troops are ranged the alien armies of the Tau, savage Orks, enigmatic Eldar and unfathomable Tyranids. And always, lurking in the shadows, there is the unholy taint of Chaos: once-loyal Space Marines now turned traitor and in the service of the unspeakable Daemon Lords of Chaos.

It seems that Dan Abnett and Tony Lee are working on "Warhammer" and "Warhammer 40K" books for little-publisher-that-could, Boom! Studios. Editor Chris Stone was working on the books when Speakeasy had the license.'

Yet another reason we haven't seen anymore SinDex in a while then.... Must say I'm looking forward to this though.

Can't say I that I've come across Tony Lee as an artist though?http://upload4.postimage.org/644651/warhammer.jpg">

General / Captain Britain / DR & Quinch crossover?
02 July, 2006, 08:32:32 PM
After looking for Captain Britain stuff (apparently they're about to reprint the original Chris Claremont run), I came across this....

Which issue did this turn up in then? It's got a 2000ad cred on it - but I have no idea when it appeared!

Off Topic / 10,000 Days....
27 June, 2006, 02:53:42 AM
Knowing that there are several Tool fans around here (Mr Spurrier!), has anyone else taken a look at the artwork for the new album 10,000 days?

In these days of the download, for a band to spend (what must have been) a small fortune on a concept like the one used for the packaging is great!  I've owned the album since the day of release, and I'm still not bored of staring through the specs at the 3d images - I've never come across 3d like this (spectroscopic?) and I must admit I've been blown away by it.

Not to mention it's the bands bassist who designed the bleedin thing (Adam Jones, who also does the videos and live footage)!

Seriously, if you dont own this album, go and have a look at it!

It's also very good musically.....

Website and Forum / I would like to thank you guys...
14 November, 2005, 01:55:38 PM
Hi there.

Even though I no longerpost here very much (can never seemt o find the right thing to say) I still read the boards every day.

I first came to this site oooh, nearly two years ago when my life seemed to be on hold, after a very messy breakup and a tangle with depression, life seemed very bleak. Then, I ofund this place, and felt a little more easy about stuff. Thanks to people like Bou, Jeb, Krusty  et al, who made me feel welcome and didn't take the piss too much, I got through xmas 2003 without too much blood loss!

I am now SEVEN WEEKS from my wedding, I have changed jobs (which is another reason I can't post here as much) and life is looking rosy!

So this is a thank you to all the guys (and gals) out there who make for one heck of a Hive Mind!

Other Reviews / Books wot I bought.... CHEAP!
06 May, 2005, 04:38:17 AM
I dunno if this is common news, but a music store in Burton (the name escapes me now) is selling the harback 'collectors' volumes of Halo Jones, Slaine and Nemesis for a whopping 4.97 each! not to mention the Titan collection of Dredd, Slaine, Devlin Waugh etc. for only 2.97!

Bought many, many books for bugger all!

Now, how do I explain this to my girlfriend?....

taken from the Games Workshop Website; thought I'd post it here as A LOT of the artists are 2000ad guys!

Nice to see someone wanting to give stuff back!

Are you an artist who at one time or another worked for Games Workshop? Might we be in possession of pieces of art you worked on?

The Games Workshop Archive Department is currently attempting to contact artists who no longer work for us, but have produced work for us in their own right, or contributed towards individual pieces, in order to return their works of art.

If your name is listed below, chances are we have one or more pieces of your artwork that we'd like to return to you. The amount of material varies significantly according to artist - from single items, into the hundreds!

Off Topic / Unbelievable!
24 February, 2005, 03:15:51 AM
On saturday, i went to coventry with my lovely wife to be, who went to have her wedding dress sorted.

I, not wanting to see said dress, searched out forbidden planet, with the intention of grabbing a few graphic novels to while away the morning.

I went in, and not finding them (my first time in the FP) I asked the guy behind the counter where the GN's were.
He looked over the rim of his glasses and actually SNEERED at me! with a withering glance and a nasty tone he told me they were in the back 'with the other mainstream stuff'!

Now, i'm used to the disapproving looks in waterstones et al. but in a COMIC SHOP! what is the geek world coming to!

Film & TV / constantine movie adaptation
24 February, 2005, 03:09:19 AM
Just read the graphic novel adaptation of Constatine.

Point one - why didnt they get garth ennis, or jamie delano, or mike carey to write? and steve dillon to pencil?

Overall its not a bad comic, but there doesnt seem much to hang a film on.
