Classifieds / Zzap! 64

I was into both when I was younger, so I hope someone else was too :)

Now the collecting is all done for 2000AD, I fancied building up my collection of Zzap! 64 magazines. Be nice to read em again, honestly. If you have any (especially if you have the binders they came in) get in touch.

Events / Pat Mills to speak at Marxism 2017

The annual Marxism Festival will be joined this year by Pat Mills! A few months after I moved to the USA for good! Anyway, the meeting he's part of should be fantastic, and there'll be tons of other great meetings and cultural events over that weekend, around the recent election and so on.

Just looking for no. 5 now (and an upgrade on no.3, which is a bit battered). Anyone feel like selling?

I was about to come back on here when I got an eBay notification, and now own 1-4, for a shade under £20. No. 3 is in pretty rough condition, though, apparently. So, I'll take no.5 off you, if you'd still like to sell just that one? Or if you find 3 in the near future I can buy them both?

Issue 1 occasionally pops up for £25, so...

£70 sounds right-ish (although if anyone wants to undercut him, please feel free :) ). If you don't mind hanging on a week or so, so I can get paid again, I'll take it.

The high bid shouldn't be so small for such a massive collection. Perhaps cancel it and relist it with the most prominent issues displayed?

Hello again, been a long time since I've  been on here - having finally completed the collection, I've been enjoying reading them. But as ever, the most important part of a collection is the part you don't have, and I read about the 5-issue "Dice Man" run.

The only one on eBay is issue 1, but if one of you lovely folks has all five and is willing to sell, I'm emigrating soon so my window for getting any more comics without having to pay insane international postage is rapidly closing. Hopefully one of you can help?

COLLECTION COMPLETE

Listen to "Fiesta" by the Pogues, which I've been humming for about a week now, and imagine me putting progs 10 and 1794 into their rightful places, and grinning from ear to ear.

I started in December of 2014, so I think I've done okay.

Yes!

So, all being well, a few remaining PayPal payments to the fine members here and I am done. I sort of like the idea of a random issue from 2012 being the last one to track down (but will it be the last one to arrive?)

"The Black List Table Reads takes the best and most exciting screenplays Hollywood hasn't yet made, and turns them into movies, for your ears. Black List founder Franklin Leonard presents a new script every month read by a rotating cast of talented actors, along with interviews from the Hollywood screenwriting community and beyond."

The interview with Alex Garland was excellent, and he name-checks 2000 AD as one of his major influences.
I tried to listen to the first one, and despite it having a lot of my favourite comedy actors in it, the script wasn't that good at all. A fun idea, I guess.

Uhh Yeah Dude

Just two American guys chatting about the day. One of them is a low-level actor, the other does sound occasionally for movies, and the podcast just did its 10th birthday. Definitely worth a try.

Might be worth pinging this person a line on Gumtree, given that the collection isn't complete: https://www.gumtree.com/p/comics/2000ad-collection-430-to-1960/1156708795
He's had some interest in the complete collection, sadly.

Nice one - I never check Gumtree, I do scan Preloved from time to time.

Actually, now I think about it, I still need a few annuals. Best get them sharpish as well.

It's been a rollercoaster ride (if rollercoasters were just you spending money and having a rapidly increasing number of boxes in your house) but thanks to IndigoPrime and blixab and eBay, I'm 1 comic away from an entirely complete collection.

1794!

If anyone has a copy they're willing to sell, please let me know.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

Just finished the last Culture novel. Bit of a bummer to think there'll be no new Iain Banks stuff ever, but it's great that he wrote as much as he did.

I'll match that offer and throw in a bag of Reece's Pieces (I prefer peanut butter M&Ms anyway).

Although I would probably want to buy them, for real, at some point. My collecting mania may not allow me to do without.
