Why not? Apart from the obvious bars of his sixteen and a half trillion dollars an hour fee and possible aversion to stooping to doing telly, as a fantasy casting I think it would work.

He's old now and so would fit as an ageing judge at the end of his usefulness to the department and he can act when he wants to. Dropped into a single episode with, say, the counterpoint storyline of a cadet on final assessment, he might just have 15-20 minutes' worth of screen time, ending with him taking the Long Walk. His name would attract viewers and if he does well he'll redeem himself with the fans who hated his Judge Dredd.

I love sly, despite the 1995 film (which I can take as a mid 90's action film if not a dredd film). The problem with him appearing would be people's apparent dislike of the 95 film, which could lead to loss of viewers on any future sly related dredd appearances.

I would suggest that Stallone's negative association with the properity means emphatically no.

I like a lot of Stallone movies, but personally, I wouldn't want him anywhere near a Judge Dredd production-he had his chance in '95 and blew it!

Yep - Judge Dredd 1995 almost killed 2000AD and put the kibosh on any further screen appearances for 17 years.  If it wasn't for Dredd 2012 we wouldn't be talking on this thread now.
