However if we are talking chronologically, then in "Judge Death: The True Story" in progs 901 to 902 we saw Dredd go back in time to 1994 and arrest Judge Death with a suction trap. Now that's an excellent way to start off a career.

Wouldn't his first chronological collar be luckless Victorian time traveller Herbert Sewell from prog 1390, who Dredd goes back to arrest in the 1880s just before Sewell travels to the future (as punishment for the slightly later version who did travel to the future)?

Isn't he still a rookie when he arrests Dubinski? The actual question is "Who was the first perp Judge Dredd ever arrested?" So he wouldn't have been passed as a Judge when he made the arrest.

Oh well played, that man:

Hmmm. How was Dredd still a rookie when he was 18?  Did he and Rico not graduate at (chronological) 13 in 2079, have been, err, decanted in 2066 and sped through the Academy in rather less that the standard 15 years?  Does Dredd think of himself as his notional physiological age rather than counting from his date of birth?  That must be pretty damn confusing.  Oh if only there was a handy hardback of Origins in the shops later this week to help with all this...
