Why must all good things come to an end?

I was just wondering Wake, why threads seem to have a 'capacity'?  Do they reach a certain level of bullsh*t and then an alarm goes off and it closes down, or does Tharg just get weary?

I've noticed in my desperate bids to get the last word in, that you can find an earlier thread and post from that.  I don't think it's a bad thing, everything dies, I was just curious.

I have limited the number of decimal places that can be used in a message ID, because otherwise I might run into problems of 'precision'...i.e. computers can only easily deal with a fixed number of significant figures. Also, each message can only have 9 direct replies.

Each thread can theoretically contain around 1000000000 messages, but this does somewhat discourage using the message board as a chat room.

Yes, fully agree.  Curiosity sated.

I've only managed to meet people in the chat room once or twice.  probably for the best.
