This, like the sad news of Dillon's and Brett's passing has hit me like a punch to the gut! My childhood takes another leap further from the present... R.I.P. Carlos.

Hey Jase,
I like that a lot!
It has a kinda Dillon vibe to it.

Oh man there's some great work on there! If I had money and space I'd be looking to get some classic Dredd pages... but alas I don't.  :(

Depeche Mode 3rd June London

The gig was great, a return to form that sounded like the stuff they used to do in the mid 90's
I'd highly recommend anyone catching their newly added dates at the end of the year if you're a fan.

I'm off to see Depeche Mode on 3rd June, been a fan since the late 80's and their new album goes some way to recapture the level they were hitting in the mid 90's.
Be interested if there are any other DM fans on here, I get the impression there's a lot of metalheads!  :)

General / Re: How did you first get into 2000ad?

I have my wonderful Granddad to thank for getting me into 2000ad, he used to bring over copies when he came to visit (my brother got Shoot the footy mag).

It was the mid 80's and I was about 10, I used to love seeing the issues he had picked up for me, eventually I couldn't stand the odd missing issue so I asked my local newsagent to get it in and every Saturday morning I had a little rush of adrenaline as I went to get my weekly dose of Thrillpower.
He still got me the Annuals for christmas.

I collected for about ten years then stopped in the mid 90's

Now I rely on graphic novels and Case Files to get my fix. Would love to afford the money and space to start up again though, but I have neither... :)

What's the betting on this thread overtaking the massive 879 page count of Goaty's 'Dredd (2012)' Thread?

As for the exciting news, it hasn't really sunk in yet, and the drip feed of info is going to be torture. I must ensure that I don't stumble across spoilers* in the clamour that is sure to follow every press release.

* The gif of the corrupt Judges executing Paramedic TJ sure stole the surprise when the moment came in the film!

At least this is something good to occupy some of our thoughts in these dark days of Brexit and Trump etc etc.

Any more news anyone... :D

PS:  I'm a female.  Jo is short for Joanne!   :)

Whoops, sorry Jo, there's me presuming!  :-[

I'll PM you with some details.

Hi Mr JoFox,

After finally getting to my collection in the loft recently I came across a few eagle reprints I bought back in the day. I actually questioned what I'd be doing with these as I have started the Case Files collecting journey and I need to de-clutter. So if you're interested I could get a list of what I have and hopefully get them to you reasonably soon.

Let me know.

Cheers, Stu

Hope you're feeling better soon Pete.
I had the pleasure to chat with you at Lawgiver2015 and bought a sweet coloured sketch of Anderson which is the only comic art allowed to be displayed in the living room.
Thoughts and good wishes are with you.
Peace

1. Nic Freeman - Star Pin Up (Classy classic and positive tribute to Dillon)
2. Mark Higgins - Salute to steve (Great art and colours)
3. Goaty 2 - Forever to Stay (As mentioned before Goaty has captured Steve's style)

HM's - Uwe de Witt, Albion, Neil McClements and all the other entries

Regarding Andy Lamberts great entry it's a shame the rules where changed, I wonder whether in situations like this when the submissions are more of a tribute as opposed to just a competition the rules could be relaxed? However it definitely deserves to be seen.

Thanks CFM for keeping this comp going, I've not been entering, or voting as much as I should've recently but still enjoying checking it on a regular basis.

It's not much, or very good or very original... but I wanted to do something for Steve.
He was my first favourite artist, and his Lawmaster's where great!

I've tweeted my thoughts and commented on the RIP thread but wanted to finish on here.
Steve Dillon was my first favourite artist, anything he drew I was instantly attracted to, loved his Dredd and his version of the Lawmaster was the best! His work with Ewins on Skreemer really affected me and Preacher was just great...
RIP Steve, you'll be sorely missed...  :'(

Shocking news! The passing of Steve Dillon is another great taken in 2016, he was definitely one of my favourite 2000AD artists. My condolences to his family and all who knew him.  :'(
