Wow, yes 'Checked' makes sense as each comic has it. It could very well mean that.

If no one else has any other suggestions I'm going take it to mean that :-)

Wow, I didn't think I would get an answer so quickly. The power of the collective mind is very powerful.

Oh and thanks Richard, you're a star.

Actually, I've just re-checked and every comic has CK next to it so that's confused me even more.

Thanks again.

General / I need help cracking my own code

Hi everyone, I have a favour to ask. I have just been updating my Marvel and DC comic collection and when I made my original list I used a couple of abbreviations. As an example the following is how I typically listed a comic on my spreadsheets.

Action Comics – Superman (DC)   318   GD+   APT 1964 (CK)

The first part is obviously the title, DC is Detective Comics, 318 refers to the issue, GD+ is the grading meaning Good Plus. APT means it has the original American Price Tag and not the British 12p. 1964 is the year it came out  and for the life of me I cannot remember what (CK) means. I have added that for most of my comics but not all and I cannot remember what it refers to. Can anyone suggest what CK stands for in relation to my comic collection? It's going to bother me for the rest of my life if I don't find out.

Thank you in advance to whoever can figure it out.

Well as old and befuddled as I am, the collector in me cannot not buy the 30th Anniversary issue.

General / Sad Day for Megazine
04 September, 2020, 12:13:42 PM
I've been reading 2000AD and the Judge Dredd magazine since the beginning and for a long time now Ive been finding it hard to follow the strips, they just seem to make less and less sense to me. I'm not sure if it's my age (54) or if it's the writing, but I'm just not getting the stories. The only two strips I can follow easily are Judge Dredd and Sinister Dexter. Does anyone else have this problem?

I've been collecting both comics since they started and the collector in me does not want to stop buying either comic, but the Megazine has to go. It's £5.99 a month, £71.88 a year and I'm just reading the Judge Dredd story and nothing else, as it all seems too confusing.

It's a sad day for me and the Megazine, as I have very few comics left that I actually enjoy reading. I gave up on Marvel comics around 4 years ago, as their continuity is worse than insane. I now just buy the occasional graphic novel from Marvel, any Darth Vader comics and now just 2000AD, as the Meg, from next month, is being removed from my reading list.

What does everyone else think?

I've just seen this on YouTube, its an animation short featuring Dredd and is pretty amazing and this guy did it at home in his bedroom. Come on Rebellion, get your finger out. I've been waiting for a decent Dredd animation for years and this was very good, so what could you do?

I remember you, nice to here from you again. Did you take the collection with you?

Oh and I'm only on here a few times a year, just to catch up with the 2000AD world.  :)

It was actually sold in November 2019.

I just realised, I think you may have to join up to view the sale.

I have just spotted this on the Heritage Auctions website and was amazed to see that the original art for 2000AD prog 2 sold for $90,000.00. I think this was last year. Amazing to see. Also I was surprised to see that they've sold quite a lot of original 2000AD art on their website, which is based in the states, I didn't realise there were so many fans stateside.

I hope the link below works.

Is anyone else seeing the similarities between Donald Trump and Judge Cal?

They are both obviously insane and in positions of immense power and no none around them is doing anything about it.

Obviously it's past tense with regards to Judge Cal, so can we put this down as another great prediction by 2000AD writers?

How anyone could confuse Flint with Ezquerra is beyond my ability to comprehend, and I actually wonder if that is a sincere opinion or if you are trolling us.

And I echo the general sentiment on Dante. Yes it was very good; no that doesn't mean we need more.

I'm being very serious. I pride myself on being able to spot an artists work from just a couple of pictures and I really have to think twice when looking at Carlos and Henry's work. I can't believe that you are having trouble even seeing a similarity.

Anyway, what about Simon and Brians work, do you agree that they are extremely similar in style?

Just read prog 2131 with the introduction of new art droid Brian Corcoran, loved his work but can't help but feel he's too close to Simon Fraser in style, who is one of my all time favourite 2000AD artists. The same happened when Henry Flint came on the scene, it was hard to distinguish between Henry and Carlos Esquerra's work. Wasn't sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing at first, but considering that Simon hasn't done any work for Rebellion in a while and I loved Simons style I'll say welcome onboard. I'm just not a fan of the 3Rilers stories and would like to see him work on an establish character. And on that note I'm starting a bring back Dante campaign. I know he's only on a break Rebellion, you didn't kill him off for a reason.  :)
