Digital comic server advice

Over the last year of so I have acquired a big pile of digital comics (thanks Humble Bundle). These are all stored on a NAS and I've been downloading a few at a time onto an Android tablet to read with Comicat. This works fine but there's a layer of file management which, in an ideal world, I'd like to get rid of. For my musiccollection  I run some DLNA server software on the NAS to allow other devices to access the files. I'm wondering if I could do something similar for my comics?

Poking around google I've seen people talking about adding a folder to Comicat via SMB or setting up an Ubooquity server. I can't find any step by step instructions for the former and can't seem to find a way to access the networked folder in Comicat. Ubooquity looks promising but requires quite a bit more set up - cerainly more than I'm going to embard on tonight. Anyone on here had any success with either of these approaches or have any suggestions for alternative ways to achieve this?
