Help! / .pdf file conversion
30 June, 2011, 06:06:11 PM
I've scanned a few pages from a book and compiled them into a .pdf but I'm having lot's of trouble converting the file to extract the text. I'm wondering if you knew anything about this? I'm on a mac at the moment by the way.
Cheers in advance, nev.

Help! / iTunes 'Unknown Album'
27 July, 2010, 12:44:30 PM
I was given an iTunes card so I thought I'd get a few soundtracks. I bought Mirror's Edge and the rest of the Pulp Fiction soundtrack after already having one song.

iTunes has now bunched both of the albums together into one even though it says the names of the albums are different (Click on the thumbnail image below to see).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Games / Xbox Live Arcade
12 July, 2010, 07:53:43 PM
For those of you chaps who are unaware of this feature, there is a plethora of games available for download from your Xbox, providing you have connection to Xbox Live. Every single arcade game has a demo, or trial for you to try before you buy. The games can be bought for Microsoft points, which you can buy from a game shop or with a credit card on your Xbox account. The games generally come in increments of 400 points, with 400 points being roughly £3.40, up to 1200.

Considering there is hundreds of games, obviously some are absolutely dire so I thought I'd make a thread where we can share our views on arcade games.

Some recommendations to start this thread off:

  • Castle Crashers - 1200 points, a side-scrolling beat-em up RPG reminiscent of Golden Axe with funky cartoony graphics with 4 player co-operative play on or offline.
  • N+ - 800 points, an infuriatingly addictive platformer where you play as a ninja, has online (and possibly offline) co-operative and versus modes.

  • Geometry Wars Evolved² - 800 points, a top down shooter where you control a ship taking on colourful shapes in 6 gametypes, there is offline multiplayer on offer too.

Film & TV / The IT Crowd

Do any other boarders watch this?

Initially I wasn't really into it, but it grew on me.

The Countdown episode had me in stitches and it had a few nice references that I found particularly funny. Example: I came here to drink milk and kick ass, and I've just finished my milk.

This is sold out on Amazon, the 2000AD Online store and my local Forbidden Planet. Does anyone know when it is likely to come back into stock, or another retailer I could try?

Cheers, nev.

Is there a plan to release the Strontium Dog stories printed after The Final Solution?
Or will they just remain as the numerous small graphic novels?

Classifieds / Best of 2000AD Special Edition
15 May, 2010, 03:50:40 PM

Because I'm lazy I stole this image from elsewhere.

Basically I was going through the pile of 2000AD's I inherited and there were two copies of this, so if anyone is interested there is one going. It's in good condition but with creases coming out from the fold on the cover due to being read quite a bit. Also a few minor creases on the cover.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I'm not really looking for any money for this (however a trade would be nice)

General / Which Graphic Novels to get?
15 May, 2010, 01:04:47 PM
Right then chaps, recently acquired £40 that does not require to be saved or used on anything 'useful'.

My current 2000AD graphic novel collection includes:
Judge Dredd Casefiles 1-12
Strontium Dog Search and Destroy Files 1-5

Now then, I was considering getting as much Dante as possible seeing as I enjoy it in the Prog yet have no real clue whats going on, but I thought you zarjaz chaps might have some other possibilities for me to get my mitts on.

Off Topic / The Sandwich Appreciaction Thread
06 May, 2010, 12:42:51 PM
Well we've got Noisybast's "Thrill-Powered Food - A galactic gourmet!" thread. Obviously the humble sandwich doesn't require much culinary prowess yet they often taste damn fine. Long story short I felt we should have a place to share our favourite sandwich 'recipes'.

Bonus points for 2000AD related or vaguely suggestive names.

Pastrami and Pickle
Butter your bread lightly, cover in pastrami, slice on some pickle. Enjoy.

I'd recommend Mrs Elswood Sweet Sour Cucumbers (from Lidl I believe) and try to get a pastrami with spices for an extra treat.

I've had no luck on Gumtree, so looking for your suggestions.

Events / Hi-Ex, anyone from Edinburgh going?
03 March, 2010, 07:33:19 PM
This is just to see if anyone from Edinburgh was going over there for a day. Mainly to see about the possibility of a lift, money for fuel etc. could be arranged.
If not, I'll bus it up and see you chaps there.

General / Strontium Dog
25 February, 2010, 08:14:23 PM
I'm just looking for someone to clear things up for me.
Are all of Alpha's adventures within 5 case files? And the stories from progs within the last year were in fact prequels to all of the case files?

General / Shakara
24 February, 2010, 09:48:41 PM
Having only read recent progs I have not read the earlier stories, and Shakara is a story I defiantly enjoy; both the artwork and story.
I was wondering if there are plans to release all the stories in one book when it is finished or is this the most that's availible (http://www.ekmpowershop2.com/ekmps/shops/2000ad/shakara---the-avenger-xb339-338-p.asp).

Welcome to the board / Hello there.
24 February, 2010, 08:41:53 PM
Hello, nev here.

I started reading 2000AD several years ago but  that was something of a rare occurance due to the 'not for sale to minors' label on the front. Not missed an issue from Prog 1607 and been reading the Meg from 281, I also bought a number of the Judge Dredd Case Files to see what I've missed out on and have pretty much enjoyed everything 2000AD related I've read.

That's about it really, and I'm just here for conversation about all things 2000AD.
