A question on a recent welcome thread got me to wondering....we've got a number of boarders from outside the UK and I'm curious how they first discovered Tharg's mighty organ. How did the likes of Grant Goggans, Devon's Daddy and Goaty discover 2000ad, not to mention our very own mayor, Thryllseeker? Was it a childhood spent in the UK; an evangelical pen-pal; a life of dedicated geekery  in the import section of the local comic shop or some random exposure to thrillpower after which life would never be the same?

It's great to have you all around though - continue to spread the word in your native or adopted lands and be true ambassadors for The Mighty One!

welcome to the heartland of restrained, polite, British, middle-aged geekdom. So much nicer than most comic sites.

How will knocking one off the wrist help his X-box?

Why do I now have an image of Dredd visiting the Hall of Justice facilities and shouting POOOO?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINKY!

On the other topic, I gave up fags three and a half years ago, but I smoked 10 silk cut ultra light (barely even real fags) when in London at the weekend. Don't feel at all guilty and have no craving to take up the rollies again. It makes people-watching in the West End look less like creep weirdo lurking.

I once worked out how to turn the pressure sensitivity off as I'm not free enough in my style to make good use of it, but it's somehow back on - I need to wade through those tutorial files again. When it's on, I tend to slow down and press harder when I'm concentrating on a fiddly bit, even if I don't want thicker lines, which is a bit of a pain.

I'm actually a little disappointed nobody thought it was a wind-up.

I absolutely did until Wake went and confirmed it! If there'd been a solid wall of denial from The Powers That Be, we'd have doubted your sanity or hounded you out of town as a liar and malcontent!

Wake forgot the rule - "The first rule of PP, is you don't talk about PP. The second rule of PP is DON'T PUT CHEESE IN IT"

I'm sure I actually said something in that post at the top of the page, but my comments have vanished!

I've been airbrushed from history!  :o

Our department has moved to another floor of the building and all the teams reorganised. Plenty of minor irritations (changing the default printer, not knowing the fax number, not enough coat hooks etc etc), but to listen to the constant moaning you'd think we'd been on Chairman Mao's Long fecking March!

For me its another example of Bellardinelli being placed on a strip he wasn't suited to. He struggled to make his heroes and villians look powerful or dynamic which in a sports strip (well it started out as one) is vital.

Agreed - I'm a great fan of Belardinelli but when I saw some of these again recently I was amazed at how wooden and lifeless the artwork was. Nothing wrong with the designs or details, but the posing and composition of the panels was woeful - characters tended to stand in a row like a police line-up to have conversations and the sports action was never convincing.
