That looks NOTHING like Dredd - pointy chin, pointy nose, stubble! Jesus, I look more like Dredd than this guy!

How 'bout this:

Hey I posted a smaller version of that pic months ago! Can't for the life of me remember why, but it's still in my photobucket album!

I change mine often. I had the Sgt Pepper's pastiche from last month's art comp for a few weeks, but it was a bit busy, so I'm currently using the classic stront from this site.

Top Tip: My usual method is to scan the covers of graphic novels and then add a thick black bar left and right - this not only makes it screen-shaped, but gives a nice plain background to park your shortcuts on. I've had some fabulous Hulk and Ultimates desktops recently. Best to choose the cover galleries and alternates (that they always include to pad out the page-count) as they don't have all the text.

Help! / Re: Why am I banned?

Just checked your recent posts - I put it to you Mr Wells, that at approximately twenty two minutes past two this afternoon, you did address The Mighty One as "Thargy".

Need I go on?

    I suck.

Me too! I actually checked that post but somehow missed this bit:

    • List of Character and Series appearances inside stories is extremely limited. More data needed.

If it's as easy as you say, I will gird my loins and give it a go next week then, but I'm off to my bed just now. 'night all!

Not sure if this should be in the vault section, but it's not strictly the vault - The Characters index seems to be a rather confused mix of characters and series titles. If looking for something specific under either heading there are large gaps - I wanted to find out the difference between Bad City Blue and Second City Blues the other night, but couldn't find either). "Judge Silver" and "The Sisters of Death" are listed individually under S, but "Sinister Dexter" only appear there as one entry, nothing under "Ramone" or "Dexter". Many individual judges appear under their last name, but under S you'll find "SJS Judge Ishmael", and "The Mind of Wolfie Smith" is under M. Some entries such as "Character Montage" and "TV film tie in" suggest these are mainly just cover listings arranged alphabetically.

Any plans to re-integrate the much more comprehensive Barney data back into the site? Also a search function that allows you to specify story/character/writer/artist would be nice.

I don't think I understand one word in five from those last few posts. This is why I have never dropped in. And I don't really understand the difference between "chatting" and everyone just replying in the same thread all together.

    Forgive me, I'm old!

QuoteThere's not a lot known about the next Judge Dredd film, but Rebellion has previously confirmed that it'll be a remake of the original Stallone film

    !!!!!!!  :o  :o

I don't think that's right. A remake? I think it's a new film totally unconnected to the original. I think that site got it a bit wrong! :D "I am the laaaawrghh" We don't need that bit remade. Heh.
They probably just meant to say it's not a sequel.

Your right. No offense intended!  :'(

I know, it's an absurd idea!

When I did a year at a US college, my room-mate was the founder of the local Beatles fan club - an absolute fanatic and fount of knowledge. (He paid a shedload of money of money for a signed album by Mike McGear - THAT's how dedicated he was!). Even he cringed when we watched a wings concert with Linda happily pounding away randomly on a keyboard that was obviously either not plugged in, or was faded right down in the final sound edit.

He used to do a brilliantly funny 45 minute talk and slideshow explaining the old chestnut about Macca dying in a car crash in the 60s and being replaced, pointing out all the dozens of in-jokes and death-references that subsequently appeared on Beatles covers and artwork.

Agreed - I am NOT fucking amused by being spammed, flamed, whatever the term is by a fellow boarder. I had to shut down and restart and even then Firefox could not restore my old session which has wasted me a lot of time re-finding other web pages that I had open.

This may be pass as fun on other parts of the net, but we don't need puerile annoying pranks like that around here. I would have reported it, but all the EDIT/REPORT buttons seem to have disappeared from this thread - no idea what THAT's all about.

Seriously Trouty, that was a BAD thing you done. Can someone get a mod to remove that link before it fucks up everybody else's browsing session?

EDIT - report button has re-appeared - post reported. Off to have a cup of tea to calm down.

    phew, panic over, prog's here!

Cover didn't do much for me.

Dredd - fanbloodytastic. I think the Chief Judge is going to find out that he may not have as much power as he thought and Dredd's words (about being a puppet) will prey on him. I think he's a genuine good guy, but that won't be enough to save him. My only quibble with Colin Macneil's art is that after weeks of craggy, middle-aged Dredd, he looks all young and smooth-skinned again. And Judge Munn looked identical to Dredd, I can't tell them apart with helmets on - I hope he includes clear shots of badges in upcoming episodes so we know who's who.

Another enjoyable Strontium Dog tale, though it feels like we're treading old ground. It seems he's always being hired by complete bastards who send him after people (usually their own children), who then convince him that they're good guys so he lets 'em go. And I think it's a mistake to make his supporting posse composed entirely of known characters - it's a flashback story, so we know none of them can get killed or turn out to be a traitor etc, which reduces the tension somewhat. Having said all that, Wagner is likely to pull the rug out in the coming weeks and confound all my expectations. Can't help but enjoy an Ezquerra-drawn stront though, however flimsy the story.

Not much to say individually about Dante, Shakara or Kingdom, except that I loved 'em all! Henry Flint is just incredible!

Overall a 9/10 prog. Worth the wait!
