3D Dredd demo reel

Dredd's head seems a little on the small side, but then a lot of artists draw it like that, and I presume that's the look you were going for.

I particularly like the Mechanismo droid and the Lawmaster. Nice and solid-looking!

The presentation was good too: it's good to see how the models are put together (I could have done without the multiple exclamation marks though!).

Dredd looks kinda Gibson-y to me...

Gibson-y? Yes, I can see that now. Would it be possible, I wonder, to develop a couple of different heads to match some of the other classic artists interpretations of Dredd? (maybe throw in a Siku turnip chin for the hell of it too!). This reel is very groovy stuff. I love the Lawmaster especially.

Now I just want to see more, have you any of MC1 in the pipeline? Maybe a Mean Machine?

Hey guys. Thanks for all the good feedback on the reel. Ive been looking at it for so long now so its good to get some fresh views on it. I suppose I did go a bit overboard on the exclamations now you mention it. Id love to do some more characters in the near future and Mean would deffo be top of the list. Ill keep you all posted!

It looks real movie quality to me, much better than the Cool Beans version and the game version, which looked pretty bad to me on the 2000AD cover though I'm supposing it was a high res version.

If you're planning more why not find a suitable scene from one of the Dredd audio adventures to recreate, then you have a ready-made audio track to animate. Even if it's short, it'll be great for your showreel, especially if you aim to work on animated drama, it would be great for us to see, and you never know, someone might see it and decide there's a market for CGI Dredd stories and give you wads of cash to be involved.
