Suggestions / E-Books
10 October, 2012, 09:27:12 AM

I recently got a new tablet and bought the America e-book - which is bloody lovely  :D. But there doesn't seem to be any other e-books produced by 2000AD. Any chance of getting some more collected editions converted to the electronic format?

General / House to Astonish Reviews 2000AD
30 August, 2009, 11:58:23 PM
http://housetoastonish.podomatic.com/entry/eg/2009-08-29T09_56_44-07_00

I don't know if any of you guys read Paul O'Brien's x-books review blogs over at ifdestroyed.blogspot.com, but IMO he's the best comics reviewer on the internet. Well he and Al Kennedy have done a pretty cool review of Prog 1650 for their podcast (link at the top). Although they're British, they both focus on superhero comics (they only reviewed 2000AD because I posted a comment suggesting it) and they obviously don't regularly read 2000AD. However I found it refreshing to see non-2000AD hardcores review a Prog.

Film & TV / Iron Sky
22 May, 2008, 10:16:06 PM

Just heard about this proposed film on Mark Kermode's bbc blog. Its a couple of finnish film makers who are trying to get funding for a movie with a very simple premise - a group of Nazis successfully got to space in 1945 and now in 2018 they're coming back. I dunno, but I think that is possibly the most outlandishly brilliant idea for a movie I've heard in a while.

There's a trailer at the website linked to at the bottom.

Film & TV / Dr Who in Radio Times (SPOILERS)
18 April, 2007, 02:54:26 PM

YES THERE ARE SPOILERS

Anyone seen the new radio times with the half human-half dalek hybrid? Any thoughts? From the looks of things this could be either really cool or really, really, really bad. Or of course it could be an elaborate April Fools.

General / Morrison/Millar Interview circa 1993
13 August, 2006, 10:23:45 PM

Funny interview by Morrison/Millar from 1993, which includes a defence of Millar Robo-Hunter so stupidly smug its almost on the same level as Frank Lebourf's "I've won a world cup".

Still Grant thinks Mills is attractive, so its not all bad :)

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the "I'm with Rowdy Yates" panel off the internet? Would be a massive help.

Hey guys,

I have a new column up at The Nexus; The Nexus Files, which is our new retro review column. The first few weeks will be devoted to a retrospective of Brian Bolland's career, with the first column on his and Alan Moore's famous story The Killing Joke!

Hope you read it and enjoy it!

Books & Comics / The Losers
23 February, 2006, 05:19:26 AM

So its finally finished (sob). Great comic, and a great ending that avoided all the bullshit you normally get with American comics/films. If there was any logic to the American comic book industry this would've been one of the biggest selling titles ever.

Still Andy and Jock got to tell their story, and it was a damn good one as well.

General / This Week Recomends Alan Moore
03 February, 2006, 07:54:18 AM

Was watching This Week (the only political show that matters :) ) and they had a novelist (I think Ian Sinclar, but don't quote me I'm not a prose fiction person) to suggest his top 10 works of political fiction, and he nominates V for Vendetta as part of his top 10. What's more he said that Moore was the nearest we have today to an Orwell or Trollope. What made it all the more impressive is that you got the feeling that he didn't really know much about comics (he very annoyingly completely ignored David Lloyd's contribution) but had just been struck by the excellence of the Moorish one.

Help! / Subs Question
13 September, 2005, 12:08:05 PM

Okay I'm going Uni in two weeks (yay) and seeing as I've got my (full time) last pay packet coming on Friday I was considering getting a subscription for 2000AD/Meg. I am able to have a two location subscription i.e. one to the uni when I'm there and another to home when I'm not?

Books & Comics / Flint and Bisley Unite
13 September, 2005, 11:04:42 AM

Just thought I'd mention that the new(ish)* Lobo/Authority Wildstorm by Grant/Griffen has 2000AD living legend Henry Flint inking Simon Bisley's pencils. Not read it through yet but the art looks... interesting. Its better than what Bisley is capable of now but not as good as Henry by himself is capable of. Still its good seeing him get some American exposure, he'd be perfect for The Authority.

Off Topic / DRINK!!!
06 June, 2005, 02:36:46 PM

Just realised I've spent ?100 on drink last week, over three (well two and half really) nights out.

That's seriously scary...

(average cost of a drink for me is about ?4)
