If you're a member of Necronauts, then you can add your name to the list, or post it here and I'll add it.

(Remember that two characters operated by the same player shouldn't work too closely together - or the system nerfs you.  Just in case you didn't know.)

Where are people putting their additional characters?  Are they all going in Necronauts or should we start another group?

I've completely fucked up the homepage - and can't edit it back.

Anyone more versed in wiki that can help me fix it?

I've added two group boxes without info in them but when I go to "edit" the code for them isn't there?

Heeeeellllp!

What are wirecutters used for anyway?

I've tried them against barricades and you can't snip bits of zombies off with them...

"What are wirecutters used for anyway? "

Originally places like the junkyards were chained shut. These are all open now so as far as I can tell the wirecutters are useless.

Apparently wirecutters were used to open junkyards, but as all junkyards are open now they are useless.

I've added a bit of history to the wiki page. Feel free to change it - just thought it'd be nice to have a little flavour on there.

Alan Moores, I think.

As I see it anyone can join the Necronauts. At one point there was going to be a seperate team for the dead (Zombie Street Team) but that's fallen by the wayside.

Having scouted around Peppardville is too close to Ridleybank for my liking. There's an organised horde of zombies there that has close to a thousand members. Is it possible to head south? Organised exodus when we've got free running, construction, and other skills?

Current safety advice for survivors:

Boutcher Alley Police Dept in Pitneybank has remained VS barricades (ie entry for anyone) and safe from attack for several days now.

A few blocks south is Fort Creedy (on the western border with Peppardville) - which provides a good zombie hunting ground.

---

Those with Free Running can use the PD as an entry into Giddings Mall - which is packed full of survivors.

I'm running two Necronauts:

Doctor Feelygood (medic) is now back on his feet and holed up in Paynterton.  Low XP for now, but I'll try and get a bunch of first aid kits over the next couple of days and try and turn that around.

Art Doyle (fireman) is cowering in Paynterton for now, but will be back on the streets tomorrow, makin' with the choppin' (and hoping to live up to his nickname - 'Conan').

Any particular skills I should try and pick up for the group?

All we need now is endorsement from our favourite Phil Mitchell look-a-like and the undead can go into all of Malton's libraries and put his books in more prominent positions.

Good question. Are the majority of us now in Pitneybank or Peppardville?

I'm outside Giddings Mall 85, 41 right now. It's barricaded tight and the zombies are starting to close in. Personally I've been using this chance to raise xp by smacking up the dead whilst still a zombie myself.

I suggest we all head there and regroup - it should be a convenient place to loot both the mall and the PD.

Mister Nightjar has been battling a horde of zombies attacking the Marshment PD in Peeppardville - we managed to fight them off, but at such a cost!  There were something like 90 dead bodies lying outside in the end...

The horror!  The horror!

*WARNING*

The warehouse, Boutcher Alley PD and the mall were all Heavily Barricaded last time I looked, and this warehouse is tagged as someone's military HQ.

Jack Point snuck in through the sewers (ie Fast Running) from the warehouse north of Baum Bank (but that was days ago).

Let me have a scout around and see if I can find somewhere that isn't occupied.

Scout report (only accurate at time of posting):

Boxall Road Fire Station and the warehouse [84,40: north of Giddings Mall] are street-level entry points.

Maggs Cinema, Baum Bank, Boutcher Alley PD, Mazzie Towers and nearby warehouses [83,41; 81,39] are all too Heavily Barricaded to enter from the street.

(Which is daft, as all the action is over in Peppardville, but there you go.)

I've got my other main character, Funt Solo, currently residing in Lockettside (southwest).

My plan was to build him up to strength in the relatively zombie-free streets of this quiet 'burb and then go and try to clean up New Arkham, an apparent unchallenged but low-radar zombie enclave.

So far, it's been quiet down here - I nip out occasionally to off a wandering zombie, but even the double-PD (Bridewater & Grandon) next door to my hideout never seems to be seeing any zombie action to speak of.  There's a mall a few blocks away - maybe that's where things get hectic.

Roderick Usher started the game in Mornington, way down in the south west, so he's miles from all the fun. Headed north in a blind panic and spent his first night sleeping in an auto workshop, but was got by a zombie the very next day. Now shambling eastwards on the lookout for a Revivification Point, but it could be a long trek.

Arthur Wyatt died in Roftwood, was revived, was unable to find a barricaded building he could actually get into and was torn apart by zombies. Grr. I need to find a revive point now... but I fear that I'll probably just repeat that same cycle. Free running is high on the list of skills to buy.

I wouldn't reccomend staying in Marshment PD - it's been completely wiped out every night for the last three nights (even when there were something like 30 people in there!)...

Hide in one of the adjacent buildings - but even they're not completely safe!

Roderick Usher, zombified, has made it to a Revive Point at a cemetary on the edge of Lerwill Heights. I'm going to hang around there until help comes, and use my actions to wander about attacking zombies to gain XP, returning to the Revive Point each time I get low on actions. If no help comes, I'll use my accumulated experience and zombie skills to head east.

If any Necronauts are near south-west Pitneybank, Art 'Conan' Doyle is in the Hunter Building, low on HP and infected, so a heal would be nice.  Plan B is to get a few more AP, then make a break for the nearest hospital. After that, with a cry of LAAARRAAAAA, I'll make with the choppin'.

Doctor Feelygood is in (Gordon) Rennie Auto Repair in Spracklingbank, bursting with med-kits.  Anyone leaking or infected head there for a heal (I'll do house-calls when my AP builds up).

Stay safe (or dead, depending).

Hello
Just a quick heads up, the first annual Zombie Cull is being organized for this coming friday (21st).  The aim is for every human player to attack (and with luck) kill a zombie during the day.  This is quite an ambitious project and understand that not every person will be able to participate (or be contacted), so we are urging every major human gang in Malton to rally their troops and support the push (emails are being sent over the next few days to as many gangs as possible).  every Zombie killed will be a step closer to reclaiming the city and hope this will be the first of many organized events.
so far we have had posotive responses from groups such as The Mighty Coalition of 5punk Gamers /The Crimson Customizers/bdo/Fazed/boys from the dwarf/dk13 (membership a combined 200+) and hope you will do your part.
thanks for your time and participation - fri 21st = D Day.

Good luck with that. 200+ members in a grid of 10,000 squares? Not sure we'll have much impact, but you've got to do what you can. I'll do my best to help. As it is, I've got a healthy level 1 character somewhere that's in a safe place with others, who ventures out once a day to attack a zombie until his APs run out, then he gets back behind cover.

hello again,
200 ish is just a start, there is still 2 days to go and we are franticly emailing the groups to make them aware.  I am a member of the Creedy Defense Force, member = 150ish (from different parts of the globe), and this was our brainchild.  The maths are simple, 19494 survivors to 18848 zombies.  less than 1 kill per person will make a clean city!!  if we can generate some more intrest we should be ok (if nothing else give us all a fun day), and like i have mentioned we have had a few responses. still waiting on the other big boys:

Caiger Mall Survivors 361, Ridleybank Resistance Front 318, Dunell Hills Police Department 200,
Malton Fire Department 196

if they take part as well our ranks should grow to a nice size.  but if you could get your guys to take part it will be appreciated, and anything we can do to help you out in future, just ask.
i love this game.

I bumped into the RRF (Ridleybank Resistance Front), the biggest, baddest zombie horde in Malton - they were down in Lockettside, on a tour of the city, having just ransacked the local mall.

Plenty of targets there.

Sounds interesting. The only thing is, some of our members are zombies.

I think the non-zombie members should go with a brain splash while the zombie members can work on either getting a revive or hiding!

I wonder if the sacred grounds policy will spare any wannabe revivees from the cull?

The Sacred Ground Policy is a movement to convert ALL Cemeteries in Malton to Revive Points. This will provide several revive points in every Suburb that do not require any research or notification per area.

Spraypainted Revive Point messages will no longer be strictly required, because it will be understood throughout Malton that ALL Cemereries are no-kill zones. If someone covers your revive point message currently - new folks to your area will not know it is a revive point. The ensuing slaughter comes out of lack of knowledge as opposed to malice.

Of course, a sudden increase in the zombies at a revive point tend to indicate that they've been infiltrated by an attacking force, using the queue as a cunning disguise...

Still in south Pegton.  Seems like a good place to hole up of you've got the AP to get there: lots of VS barricaded and inconspicuous buildings (pubs and the like) near enough to several hospitals and PDs for looting, but not so close as to be obvious targets.  There're a few zombies around the more vital places, but no hordes as yet.  Of course, having said that I'll get munched and deaded before lunch, but there you go.

If you can get to Spracklingbank, I'm in Rennie Auto Repair (Doctor Feelygood), with lots of first-aid kits.  My 13AP means I can move in your direction, so if you find a bolt-hole within my reach, I'll make a house call.

Otherwise, I'd head for St Benedict's Hospital in Pitneybank [83, 47] as it's safe and busy (Art Doyle).

Good luck, Mister Nightjar.

Made it - still alive!  His head throbbing from the infected bite wound in his throat, Mister Nightjar fled from the zombie in the library.  He managed to make it to St. Paschals Hospital only to find the barricades shattered and the building occupied by a shambling zombie.  Searching frantically, he found a first aid kit and cured his infected bite wound before hewing into the undead with his trusty fireaxe.  The zombie eventually fell, and the nervous fireman made his way through the mean streets to the warehouse in Pitneybank, collapsing in exhaustion among a small group of fellow survivors...

Hmmmm, level 6 now!  How's everybody else doing?

"What's the point of the Necronauts?? I mean what are you trying to achieve apart from survival? Is there a mission statement, a plan or a model for improvement?"

I know it's only lunchtime, but that's the funniest thing I've heard yet today. I would have thought the answer is self evident. Already people have been patching each other up, telling each other where to find guns and get help, and updating each other on the status of barricades. I should have thought that given the fact we've all just started and everyone's at quite a low skill level, survival shold be enough; and there's safety in numbers.

Did you say 'mission statement'? *lol*. You don't by any chance have a degree in management science, do you?

It's group banner. We help each other out when we see each others, swap details and ifnfrom others on where we are. Otherwise we just get on with it.

Oh yeah, Marshment PD has now been gutted, barricades are down, only two zombies out there. Daley Library is heavily barricaded with me and another zombie outside. However, The Maine Building next door is swarming.

Where in Pitneybank is safe to congress?

Mission statement? Stay alive. The best way to stay alive would be to help each other. Several Necronauts are infected in the Dalley Library in Pitneybank. If someone can help then maybe help others before Joe, he's got no AP's and therefore couldn't help the others by searching for Medikits.

Dalley Library's in Peppardvile DXB. I'm still outisde as a zombie. But seriously, there's 13 zombies outside the Maine Bulidings and it's highly likely they'll swarm on the library.

Wow thanks for the sardonic reply Usher.

Thing is most of this 'self-evident' (*lol*) sharing, like where to find guns (mall, police stations), is pretty obvious. I was just wanting to see if there was a grand scheme that my crew could join in on, or you were all running around like headless chickens.

Iok, I think there's a basic clash of perspectives going on here. We, the Necronauts, are prolly never going to be organised and have a battle plan. We're in this for the fun of it. The entertainment value comes from having a game we can share with our mates and muck anout with together, the co-operative element if you will. It might seem basic to you but that's because we're still finding our feet. If you want to suggest a battle plan then some may join.

However sardonic repliers are always going to be the order of the day. It's practically the only language the board speaks. Anyway, happy hunting.

The Dalley Library survivors...theirs a hospital to the west that was unbaricaded in the last hour. If you've got 18 hit points and Action points you could get there possibly find a medikit and then find somewhere safer. Not an ideal proposal but there you go. Brief respite from a marathon inking session to add that:

Jim Callous is alive and well (and armed to the teeth) in Halberry Boulevard Police Dept [87, 44] Pitneybank.

(At the time of writing this) the building is very strongly barricaded- enterable at street level.

LRC as Art suggested earlier Free Running seems to be a necessity, I recommend you choose that next ;)

Spray Cans: Auto Repair, Junkyard, Mall Hardware or School.

Mobile 'Phones: Club, Junkyard, Mall Tech, Pub.

Junkyards are a lottery, as are Malls if you don't have the relevant consumer skills.

Hello folks, just to let you know that Luiz Cannibal (Zombie - forgot to check his spigot) is presently sacking the Tomson Mall in Lockettside (glee!), while Lux Roth Chop (Consumer) is having a nice lie down in a cemetery in West Becktown while his APs reach a sensible level (Zombie Squad revive-request site highly recommended if you're in the area - takes about an hour!).

Aquaboppette (Bou-style Fireperson) is holed up in St. Francis Hospital in the boring deadend of Miltown, and Brinna (Scout) is alternately snoozing and searching in a warehouse in Darvall Heights.  The survivors hope to head over Peppardville way to link up with their fellow 'Nauts once they get their post-apocalyptic angst under control.

If anybody needs a patch up then I've got three medkits in the cinema next to the library. You'll need free running to get in. I'm hoping Joe'll be okay as I'm off out til this evening. If anyone can suggest a decent hide out in the vicinity let me know.

Anyone in the warehouse attached to (northside) Giddings Mall - give me a shout if you need healing - I can't diagnosis but I have got a medkit.

The hospital 4 blocks (diagonally) north-west was accessible from the street at 08:30 GMT.

Update: Doctor Feelygood now at Cornelius General Hospital [Spracklingbank: 80, 36].  Having scavenged many med-kits, you can head here if you need healing.

Art Doyle is in the Pitneybank warehouse [84, 40] with all those other Necronauts.  Waiting for my APs to ramp up a bit before heading out again.

As for a Necronauts game plan, I think an outing of some sort* would be a great idea once people level up a bit and we have a good range of skills at our disposal (i.e., everyone gets free running, a medic gets diagnosis, a few barricaders, etc.).  It may be easier to co-ordinate this on a set date and time via the chat-room...

Anyway, good hunting, all.

* I don't mean pointing at Devlin Waugh and shouting "You're GAY, you are" more like a trip to the zoo, where we may all get eaten during a break for tiffin.

I love the idea of an outing to the zoo (it's in Ketchelbank, for anyone who hasn't noticed it yet).

We might also have a game of cricket at one of the stadiums.  Floyde Stadium in Barrville would require an exciting trip through Ridleybank, home to the largest zombie horde in Malton.

For a permanent residence, one might prefer the comfort due those of our class and status at one of the five mansions in Malton.  Those located in Roachtown or Stanbury Village would be particularly invigorating, considering their proximity to Ridleybank.

Finally, for a truly epic adventure, a pub crawl of Malton would put the zombie hordes mall tour to shame, I should think.

See this is what i was talking about earlier. Like in Apocalypse Now where they go surfing, Tea and Tiffin in the midst of a zombie horde is the way forward.

Have any of you guys got barricading skills yet? Might be an option so that you can all hang together and have a base...

Bah.  Just blew 40 AP searching a hospital and found one sodding newspaper.  Still, made up for it with the jammiest of jammy shots, torching a zombie with a flaregun.

Hmm.  Setting up in a mansion, you say?  Intriguing.  It might be tactically sound, too: according to the Wiki everyone knows that big multi-square buildings are a bugger to defend and there's nothing useful in mansions, so nobody in their right mind would ever want to stay there, and so no zombies would bother attacking a building that's bound to be empty, so...

Besides, it's stylish enough to be worth doing regardless.

In fact the Malton City Pub Crawl 2006, complete with tagging and the right publicity, would be awesome... much better than the zombie hordes mall tour.

Not sure about locating in a mansion though -- kind of like lathering yourself with bbq sauce and sitting on a spit roast...

Don't mention spit roasts, please, or the ghost of Jimmy Krankie will appear.  Or a slavering Krankie zombie, which might be worse.

Building up XP so 'the group' has the requisite skills for establishing a base / a plan seems to be the way forward.  I was tempted to suggest having a look at the Rees buiding in Ruddlebank (but only because it's my surname), but this 'burb has 3x NT buildings, 3x FD, 3X PD, plus a hospital, which equates to a big neon EAT ME sign.  Bah.

Any other suggestions for a future home of our own?  Preferably something with a view and a lawn for croquet.

Pegton's not looking too bad.  It's got four police departments, three hospitals, two firestations and a necrotech building but they're all towards the north of the 'burb: further south it's all warehouses, factories and other inconspicuous hidey-holes.  Plus it has a Custard Museum.

Of course, it has nowhere the class and devil-may-care attitude of taking over a mansion.

Insane's the name of the game.

Doing some map research, an initial plan could be to meet at the Crooker Arms (62,9)in Chancelwood, invade the nearby Ridge's Stadium for the World Cup celebration, then head to Lamport Hills, which hosts six pubs, for the first leg of the crawl.

Aim is to occupy each venue for a night, drink at least one drink and move on. If we do it together and sensibly, shouldn't be a problem. Thoughts??

Hmm.  Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you... Mega Epic Pub Crawl!

Hitting one pub a day would leave enough AP to scavenge, heal, fight and generally stay alive, and would take the best part of a year.  Now that's insane in a whole class of its own.

And crowbars.

In order to pull this off, we'd have to break any barricades on the target pub down to VS (or build them up to it), kill any zombies who got in our way and search, find and consume at least one beer or wine in each pub.

Oh - and someone suggested spray-painting something like "Malton Pub Crawl '06" in each pub as well.

What's the position with our fallen brethern? Do we wait for them to power up or stagger off over their shattered bones?

Also what does drinking do for you in a game sense? I chugged a bottle of wine and it said 'You feel invigorated' but with no points benefit that I could see.

In the coming weeks, preperation for the Great Crawl of '06 should include getting free running (equivelant skill to knowing the landlord, thus negating all but the best barricading), at least a couple of guys with barricade skills so we won't be disturbed mid-drink, and upping combat skills.

I now have a fire axe, so am tempted to start hacking these things down when I need to get access.

The crowbar is best for destroying barricades.

I think it's perfectly okay to choose a safehouse and designate it VS barricades only.  Anyone puts it higher, just tear it back down again (and maybe spray paint "VS barricades only"). As long as nobody else regards it as their safe house - or it's not part of an organised Suburb Barricade Plan, that should work out okay.

The warehouse on the north side of the Giddings Mall in Pitneybank was accessible last time I was there, as was the PD (Boutcher Alley) nearby.

Just tooled up. Got some wire cutters, a fire axe and a flame gun. Still in Spracklingbank. Going to head back to Pitneybank tommorrow. Anyone know any good bolt holes there?

I've got Peppardville, Rolt Heights and Rhodenbank figured out.

Warehouse north of the mall was VS (entry OK) last time I was there.  (So's the Boutcher PD, but you don't want to spend the night in a PD.)

Anyone been in north Pegton lately?  If you know of any entry level buildings in the vicinity of Beagly Auto Repair (between the two fire stations), let me know.  Art Doyle is stuck outside with 1AP, fondling his axe, waiting for AP / zombies.  Curse those over-barricaders!  Why-I-oughta...etc.

what are we doing about zombie-fied Nauts? Our usernames don't show up so how're we gonna know which of our undead members are with us?

It's important to add members of the Necronauts to your 'contacts' list - that way, you can recognise them if they turn up dead (whether they're standing or lying down).

But, I think, you need to be alive to be added as a contact - so...

Or are we on a mission to all get revived before we start?

Excellent idea - we need to set up a designated Necronaut Landing Pad for our post-life members to regain a healthy hue.

Just checked Odders' profile and have decided that he is not a man but a God. You are now head Necronaut, Oddboy.
Aw shucks! I've just been in this hell hole for a loooooong time.

Okay, can we post up on the Necronaut wilki as an affiliate? We are Department Q, been going for about two weeks now over in Yagaton, and pretty much established a safe area there.

Any of you want to come over and prepare in relative safety, we have a barricaded factory, the immediate area is free of zombies, a raidable police station two blocks away and a hospital pretty close. The shopping mall about 7 blocks away is roaming with zees but open to raiding parties. Also there are a lot of heavily barricaded bolt holes for if it goes wrong, but we've been here nearly a week without any trouble.

I think with 35-50aps you can make it in one run (maybe less) from Pittneybank.
AND there is an empty mansion close-by that we're looking at occupying soon. Invites there people!

ps I think there is a revive point about three blocks down for zombie members, although this is unconfirmed. But the pace of life is definitely nicer here... we had a cook-out earlier in the week.

Well I did my bit for Z-day, and I've been waiting outside, twitching, while my AP builds up enough to find shelter.  I've just made it inside St. Benedicts hospital (Pitneybank) with my last AP, but it's only quite strongly barricaded and, for all I know, full of zeds.  Will I wake up?

Does that switch itallics off?

Anyway my three characters are all on the side of the living still, although T Savini is having a rough time of it.

I've just donated the $5 for my character Harpo Marxist who is a level 6 private who is now pretty handy with a pistol (65% 5 Damage). After a Police Station run yesterday to tool up I managed to take out two Zeds today and am currently held up in a church in Rolt Heights.

Done my bit with both of my guys - in fact, my shotgun toting cop's got in two kills today!

For those of you in the Boutcher Alley PD - there's a zombie horde attacking St. Benedicts in Peppardville, and a few on the edge of the Armoury - you can get there, use up your AP attacking and get back with a few AP to spare.

Even the non-coms might get a few hits in and wear them down for others to take out...

Been playing all week, i am dead and i can't do fuck all except attack barricades endlessly, then can't get in because the door is shut, attack zombies and miss, get killed continuously by some dickhead zombie hunter, or wander around aimlessly till i have no A.P.'s left (then when i come back to it i've been killed) It's starting to get tedious.
Title: Re: Urban Dead - Necronauts..........

Best thing I've found to do as a zombie is just try and find a revive point then spend all your time in the queue attacking other zombies. You'll build up a healthy XP balance that way so you can buy some stuff when you get better.

Yeah, I've never attacked others at revive points but I have been attacked in them and it's a fuckin' headache. Best tactic if you're already undead is to find lone zombies (nearly always by monuments or outside warehouses and lay into them instead.

It's fair game and a good XP raiser.

Right now I've made it to that Warehouse north of Giddings Mall. In here with slippery james, Brian McClair and JEB. Got me a crowbar, another axe and a fuel can. The are's totally quiet zombie wise so anyone who needs cover should head for us.

St Lucy's was barricaded up to the max when I went past it this morning.  It seems to be in a relatively safe area at the moment - although there were 112 dead bodies lying outside the armoury - they might cause problems if they start getting up again...

St Benedicts hospital was open and operating last time I saw it - but that was a couple of days ago.

Heading West would be a good idea eventually cause we can then be Necronauts West which for this geek has a good ring to it.

However to begin with Scarletwood is 4 suburbs tot he south of Peppardville and has a Necrotech building in it which might be a good meeting place before heading west. There are vs buildings adjacent for those without freerunning and because it's a revival point it might stop some zombies from attacking.

Tompson Building (79. 84) as a first location with secondary characters meeting by Tuesday before we decide where to head?

This way we get to avoid penalties for playing multiple characters and keep the safety in numbers thing.

Maintaining at VS seems to be the key. I've asked for help in the mall for assistance for anyone stuck in their.

Don't like the sound of that Bart. I'll not be around for a day or so, that leaves Joe at the mercy of the fates. That said he's in the Mall so there are plenty of people around...here's hoping.

In the meantime JohnnyXAlpha of Necronauts West has found a Necro Tech building and is buildin up his skills so that he can make use of the syringes he's collected. If all goes to plan by midweek we'll have a 'Naut with revival ability within staggering distance.

Just north of Boutcher Alley PD, in Spracklingbank, there's an Auto Repair, Library and Hospital that all had street-level entry this am.  (All in a line from the PD to the hospital.)

I've taken the safehouse location off the wiki - guess that was a bit of an advert to be eaten.

The Armoury / Fort is currently the residence of 100 or so zombies, according to Blackblood, my zombie double-agent.

Potential Necronauts base:

Southall Mansion

Located at the crossroads of East Boundwood, Lamport Hills, Yagoton and Millen Hills (in the northern end of central Malton).

Of all the mansions, this one is best located for nearby resource buildings, with a PD, hospital and NecroTech building all adjoining it, and Bale Mall only 5 blocks away (whether free running or taking to the streets).

There are 7 other low-radar buildings adjoining the mansion, which could serve well as bolt-holes in the event of zombie incursion.

The Rodges Stadium in Chancelwood (suggested start of the Mega-Epic World Cup Malton Pub Crawl 2006) is only 10 blocks away.

Guess we can add them to our allies list!

Found a cool Firefox extension for Urban Dead today which does a number of cool things. Best of the lot is that it automatically organises and groups your inventory for you which makes it a lot easier to see how well armed you are.

It also allows you to add people to groups which will then show up in a different colour. I've got all the Nauts in one list and the possibility to have all PK'ers I find show up in red.

My top character is a Level 8 Private (I think) who has all the combat skills except 'Knife Skill' and am now working on getting 'Body Building', 'Baricade' and the first aid one (10hp per FAK instead of 5). Once I've got these I'll be a one man army and will join up with Necronauts once we decide on a base.

Like the idea of occupying the mansion : )

Seems to be quite some frustration with barricades impeding movement.  Some organised groups have attempted to counter the problem by defining barricade plans for specific Pegton (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b16/BENNnHISBADGER/Pegton-Barricade-Plan.gif%22%20target=%22_blank)).

I can't find one for Pitneybank itself, but many special location pages have their own specific barricade policy - such as Giddings Mall.

However - these can be out of date, or ignored, by survivors (as Blackblood found out in Pegton when he was infected and running low on HP and AP).

There are a few things you can do to stop being left out in the cold:

- get Free Running, if you don't have it, as a priority.  It's an essential survival skill.  (Playing as a medic, you rarely then have cause to go outside at all.)

- Don't go outside unless you know you can get back in.  Don't venture further than your AP will allow to get back, unless you find a new bolt-hole whilst outside.

- carry a crowbar (double the chance of any other weapon to take down a barricade) and keep some AP spare.  (This only makes sense if your mission for the day is breaking in somewhere.)

Title: Re: Urban Dead - Necronauts.........
Post by: Funt Solo on 24 April, 2006, 03:06:45 AM
An untrained zombie attack is more damaging than any untrained weapon attack from a survivor.

You get 0.5 damage / AP (approx.) as a zombie, whereas a survivor with a fire axe gets only 0.3.

Firearms increase that to 1.5 or 3 (pistol / shotgun), but then factor in the amount of AP it takes to find the ammo, reload the gun etc.

Healing gives 5XP / kit, but then factor in finding the kits.

Yer standard zombie moves slower, so that may be a balancing factor.

For higher levels, I don't know.  It's all in the skills.

---

The way I hear it, many veterans choose the fire axe (specialised up to 40% with skills) to give them a low but steady XP income without the need to search for ammo.

"I'm in Spracklingbank-Saltrow Library(81,38).I've not got many action points left right now,but if anybody wants to come to me I've got 4 health packs."

There is a hard zombie doing nothing outside Hickling Auto, just above you.   Managed to hit him three times before another zombie came along, and not have many AP's, I fled :p.  Might be worth havuing a go if you can.

I took 2HP's of damage, not much point me healing myself, but by all means feel free to use a medkit on me if you want the XP!

I'll post a link below for anyone who hasn't come across the wiki suburb map.  It's very handy for checking the status of your current (or potential future) location.  Click on the suburb name on the map for a list of recent updates.

Doctor Feelygood is still hanging out in Spracklingbank, but out of medkits as the nearest hospital has been uber-barricaded.

Art Doyle is in Pitneybank, and has been dropping into his local zombie-filled hospital whenever AP allows.  So many targets, so little AP!  St. Benedicts [83, 47] has been overrun for the last couple of days, but there's a very handy [extremely strongly barricaded] motel next door, if anyone is in the neighbourhood.

As long as you have a pulse, that is.

I should say that I'm the library next to you.  If you want to have a go at that zombie, then come and heal me, I could then heal you of any damage you recieve :p

Otherwise I'm saving my points up for another chopping expedition.  Another four hits with my trusty fire axe and I can choose between free running or a combat skill.  At the moment, I'm tempted by combat, just so I can get XP faster.

PVS, the hospital is clear now, so it should be a safe bet for getting healed there soon.  Combat may get you more XP quicker, but free running will keep you alive so you can use your AP for chopping and ducking instead of trying to find a hidey hole, falling asleep on the street and then spending hours waiting for a revive.

Having said that, my medic is ignoring the temptation to buy free running and is instead saving up for a cross-class diagnosis skill to get the XP flowing faster.

Stay safe, neighbour.

Bolt-01 and dave6795 have both joined the ranks of the living, so could someone update the wiki for me? I don't like messing with them if I can help it.

I've just got Free running for Bolt01, does this help getting past barricades or just let me cross from building to building? Do the buildings have to be in a straight line or can they be diagonal?

You can go in any direction, and this is the key for getting into those pesky (now very reassuring) 'overbarricaded' buildings.  You just have to find an adjacent entry level building, then you can move directly from building to building, without needing to go outside ever again...

You have to find a way in first, but after that you can move through barricaded buildings even if they're inaccessable from the ground (free running is running and jumping along the rooftops).  You can move diagonally.  Although if you go outside from an extremely barricaded building, you can't get back in again.

Finding a street level access point can be tricky sometimes - my cop character has taken to breaking into barricaded up buildings with a crowbar, and is finding huge sections of the city that are completely deserted of people - it looks like the barricaders have built up the walls, gone outside and not been able to get back in again and then abandoned the area.  However, if you open up an empty hospital or PD, it fills up with people in a couple of hours...

petesbeats - one of the joys / frustrations of the game.  Your character gets 50 action points per day - and that's it.

You can have multiple characters, but you're limited to 160 (?) hits on the server per day.

You can pay 5 bucks to have a character removed from the IP limit, but they're still on the AP limit.

Aye - read the FAQ on the main page (I'm deliberately not linking to it because that'll cause an IP hit and I'm running 4 characters) and then investigate the suburb map (http://map.aypok.co.uk/index.php%22%20target=%22_blank).  And stay frosty.

To the wounded Necronauts in Boutcher Alley PD.  I saw you on my way past - I'm lurking nearby with meds, but am having a snooze.  If you hold on till after my afternoon nap, I'll pop back in later and bandage you up.

---

Meanwhile...

Funt Solo has been in the same location for over a week - venturing outside occasionally to hack at zombies with an axe, he feels very much like The Omega Man.  Lockettside - easy XP for axe-wielding maniacs.

Doctor Maniacus, a starting out medic in Eastonwood, woke up to find that a zombie had munched on his leg, infected him and then been killed by a passing hunter, who also bandaged the wound and cured the infection before reinforcing the barricade and disappearing into the night.  This is a scary 'burb - not sure I'll last the night.

Blackblood, rogue General, is holed up in Pegton, and has just discovered the secret walkways over the rooftops.  This 'burb is infested with street zoms, and the resource buildings are over-barricaded.  Strictly for the foolhardy.

It's as easy as something really easy.  Just google Firefox, download the mac OSX version, and drag it into your applications.

Then, in Firefox, go to the link Funt provided [link below], download the latest UD graphic doozy (Version 46b) and follow the instructions on that site.  It's idiot-proof, honest.

Isn't it a little early to be making more enemies, especially publishing lists of them on the wiki?  Overbarricading can be a bit of a pain, but check to see whether the 'burb you're in has a barricading policy.  Anyway, as soon as you get free running, it's less of a problem (unless you're very low on AP).

Boutcher Alley PD is accessible to survivors as of the time of this post.

(Some posters may be unaware that you can, as a survivor, enter a barricaded building as long as it doesn't say 'heavily' in the description and 'you can see no way to enter'.)

Managed to off three Zombies today with a combination of pistol, shotgun and axe when I ran out of ammo. Earnt over 100xp but it takes 1 day of searching to give enough ammo for 1 day of killing. The biggest advantage is that with firearms when you attack something you know you will be able to kill it with as few as 10ap if using the shotgun.

Going to level until I've got construction, first aid and shopping/bargain hunting then I'm off for a proper wander. At the moment I'm holed up in a extremely heavily barricaded church in Rolt Heights which gives access to the police station without going outside so makes ammo runs simple.

I see a lot of 'Nauts in the Fort Creedy / Giddings Mall area (Pitneybank / Peppardville).

Both those 'burbs have good revive points (as long as you register on the appropriate site).

There seems to be no particular safehouse, although the standard entrance buildings for the mall, plus resource buildings are often used as bolt-holes for anyone without the Free Running skill.

(I don't think I'm telling the zombies anything they don't already know.)

Two zombies at 81,39, SW Spracklingbank.  One is down to 27 HP's.

Got my XP, and bought free running.  Not sure it was the best thing to do, hand to hand combat might have been better, but at least I can shimmy along drainpipes into H.Barricaded buildings now.

Doctor Maniacus was getting frustrated at not knowing who needed healing, when some infected madman crawled into the warehouse craying "Just kill me, please God, kill me!"

Maniacus tended to the man's wounds, then popped over to the library and read up on emergency medicine.

Now he can do triage.

Dog Deever is still walkin tall in Spraklingwhotsit with no real strategy or abilities to speak of- not even a lousy spraycan! Hows a juve supposed to cause any mayhem, i ask you. Can't get into the mall for equipment. I am on the verge of giving up trying to bludgeon my way through EXTREMELY HEAVY BARRICADES with my bare hands- I am surrounded by rots- Hardcore or wot?
I think the Necronauts should dedicate themselves to spreading around MALTON downscaling barricades on Malls, Fire Stations, PD's, and Autorepairs. Maybe Rennie's Autorepairs should be set up as a revivification point!

Things To Do In Pegton When You're Dead

Checked my pulse this morning, and it seems that Art Doyle has been deaded.  I nearly made it through the night, despite being down to 3HP and infected for quite a while; got healed a couple of times and made it into an extremely heavily barricaded warehouse in north Pegton [83, 50] with one AP left.  Died in there during the night, though, and am now lying down on the job while my zombie brain tries to figure a way to reduce the barricades to zero and get the doors open so I can get to the revive point one move away [82, 51].  There's two bodies and two zeds here, presumably hostile, so until I can find a way out, I'm staying down.

If someone wants to take on a probably suicidal mission to get those doors open and let me out, or get in and revive me in situ, knock yourself out!

Is it just me or did it get very busy in East Malton last night?

Does anybody know if there is limit to how many times your can buy the same skill over & over again?

Like I  tried to buy 'Neck Lurch' for the second time and nothing happened, so I accidently clicked the 'Digestion' skill. Which is pretty good, I now regain health every time I land a bite.

I also would like to know if there is way I can look at my character stats while I have run out of Action Points?

Ming; I'm pretty certain you can always leave a building, no matter how heavily barricaded it is.  Just a minute... yep, according to the Wiki you can always get out.

Give me a shout when you've got a pulse; I'm in the south of Pegton with an abundance of first aid kits, and by the time you're revived I'll probably have enough AP to get to you and back to my nice safe pub again.

Free running - do you just click on a neighbouring bulding and you go straight there without leabing yours?

Also, can you free run diagonally?  I'm guessing not, but thought I'd check.
Title: Re: Urban Dead - Necronauts..........
Post by: Slippery PD on 26 April, 2006, 09:46:24 PM
Free running is considered jumping from rooftops, so  you are not out in the street.  Basically if you have it, you go from inside one building to the other without going outside.

Yes you can do it diagonally.

What Slip said.

In terms of leaving an extremely heavily barricaded building you can't leave through the door and stay in the same square but you can move to the next square.
Title: Re: Urban Dead - Necronauts..........
Post by: ming on 26 April, 2006, 10:06:02 PM
I thought you could just exit via the door of a building, regardless of barricade levels (clicking "leave the 'whatever' building").  Try this instead of clicking on an adjacent block.  I'm sure I've done this accidentally on occasion, instead of searching.

If you scan a zombie nobody else has you get 4xp.
It also tells you the zombie's name and details,so you know whether you can revive it.Also you don't waste a revive needle on trying to bring back a zombie with brainrot.

Lord Running Clam - Art Doyle is presently awaiting a revive in Pegton [82, 51] so I'm within stumbling distance of you.  I can come to you and then you can stick me with a revive syringe, if that's okay.  I have another character in Spracklingbank, so you may need to do a cross-border mercy dash into north-west Pitneybank.

If you let me know when you're online and nominate a meet point, I'll get shuffling.  If I get revived in the meantime, I'll let you know.

In most buildings, running generators are an advert to zombies that someone is inside - because the outside description changes to something like "lights can be seen on inside".  I think that's why people sometimes destroy them - although they might just be griefing.

For RP purposes, there are sometimes interior descriptive changes - such as cinemas playing movies if there's power.

In some buildings, the generator has a gameplay purpose:

In hospitals:  allows use of surgery skill (+15HP per FAK)
In Necrotech Buildings: allows use of the NecroNet Access skill.
In buildings with a mobile 'phone mast:  allows mobile phones to function in that suburb.

Current grafitti in here says 'Walrond Square is no longer a revive point'.  I think there was some weird shit going down here last night, with revivers getting offed and someone trying to let the zeds in.  Anyway, give me a shout and I'll ask someone to help you out.

so how do we set about attacking PKers without getting labelled PKers ouselves - can we list em on the wiki - or something more formal?
Title: Re: Urban Dead - Necronauts..........
Post by: ming on 28 April, 2006, 05:37:46 PM
But is it classed as a PK if you're killed while a zombie, which Bad Andy was, wasn't he?  Wearing a "If Found Undead, Please Revive" badge in your zombie character description might help get revives on the street, but I think most people will chop first and read badges later...  I know I do :-)

I've listed him on http://zombies.desensitised.net
Bastard.

You can always out him as a PKer by shouting and then letting him have it. I've seen that happen.

I'm current one of the tens of corpses at Walrond Square. I'm not getting up until tomorrow. I've decided.

That's just the thing though - I had been revived. I was human. Then moved two places and this guy pops up.

I was checking out his profile seeing if it was worth asking him to heal me and the chops me up good style. I was human therefore - a PKer.

I then became a zombie and allowed Odds to get some XP by battering my arse (although he would have got more with a revive). Someone then finished the job and I'm dead once again. And angry.

Get yourself to the nearest revive point and post a revive request using the link below.  I'd suggest heading to Walrond Square in Pitneybank as revives there have been very quick recently, but after Bad Andy's experience, who knows?

Department Q: What's the deal here?  Funt?  Anyone?

A large group called the Necronauts -- operating in and around Peppardville, Pitneybank and Yagoton -- is currently suspected to be the initial cause of the outbreak in Malton. Our sources report that attempted contact with the realms of the undead, unwittingly or not, resulted in the group unleashing the plague. Operatives have been reading circulated literature associated with the Necronauts, watching certain members and monitoring modes of communication to substantiate the investigation. Further reports are coming in that human members of the group have been openly consorting with the undead, and, if proven, agents will be forced to act.

Looks like our glorious leader Funtsolo may be out. I hope not, i have to admit, although it wasn't a nice thing to do, especially with someone getting PK'd, it did increase the drama for the last few days. I hope we can all join together in pleading with Funtsolo and the others who left to come back in. It was just a shitty exercise in roleplaying to attempt to give us goals and a nemesis, but it's backfired and left some pissed off people- i hope we can all work this out and renew the Nec's prescence in Malton. I, for one was having fun. Except I've just been attacked at the school with the mobile mast and have run out of AP's. Will definitely need a revive soon.

If you don't get hand-to-hand you look pretty stupid when you run out of ammo and zombies set up camp in your local PD.

Firearms training without either pistol training or shotgun training is pretty much useless. I'd go for Pistols, as they are more efficient as reloading and searching goes.

Once you're revived, just lie there dead until you store up enough AP to both stand up and get to safety.  Bear in mind that you might also be infected - so you'll need to head for a VS safehouse like a PD or hospital, and keep one eye on your health-ometer.

As long as you lie down dead, you're immune from everything.

Don't know how to do the screen grab but here's what greeted me when I logged on this morning -

Since your last turn:
?   Jack Burns said "*hands out lecture notes in the NT auditorium for the Darwin vs. Dawkins Debate*" (05-03 18:36 BST)
?   Shetland said "Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! See two men of science battle it out in a debate... TO THE DEATH!!!" (05-03 19:15 BST)
?   Richrich said "This oughta be good! *Goes to get some popcorn*" (05-03 19:18 BST)
?   A flare was fired 2 blocks to the east and 14 blocks to the north. (05-03 20:43 BST)
?   Dr Richard Dawkins said "Mr. Darwin, It's rather funny meeting you here. Are you well? You look ragged and dizzy. Is it from all that spinning in your grave you've been doing in the last several decades?" (05-03 21:05 BST)
?   A flare was fired 14 blocks to the west and 1 block to the south. (05-03 21:23 BST)
?   Charles Darwin said "Not a debate at all my friends, I am a great admirer of Dr. Dawkins. He has been carrying on my torch while I've been busy...KILLING ZOMBIES!!!" (05-03 21:56 BST)
?   Charles Darwin said "And yes Richard, I have been quite upset by all these so called Intellegent Design creationists. But that's why I carry these... *racks sawedoff shotguns*" (05-03 21:58 BST)
?   Charles Darwin said "I am now a member of The Elite, a group trying to make sure humans are the fittest to survive. Soon the evil Zeds will BE EXTINCT!" (05-03 21:58 BST)

So, I lie there dead, and this happens:

burnie3 attacked you for 3 damage. (05-03 21:29 BST)
You heard a loud and distant groaning 3 blocks to the west and 3 blocks to the south. (05-03 21:29 BST) ...and again. (05-03 21:29 BST)
burnie3 attacked you for 3 damage. (05-03 21:33 BST) ...and again. (05-03 21:33 BST) ...and again. (05-03 21:33 BST) ...and again. (05-03 21:33 BST) ...and again. (05-03 21:34 BST) ...and again. (05-03 21:34 BST)
A zombie killed burnie3. (05-03 21:34 BST)
A zombie said "Mrh?" (05-03 21:35 BST)
chico79 revivified you with a NecroTech syringe. (05-03 21:35 BST)

How can I be revived, but lying down, and still get attacked?

Look on the bright side - at the end of it all you were revivified, and that nutter burnie3 that kept hitting you got eaten by a nearby zombie.

I'm guessing as far as the nutter was concerned he was hitting a zombie.

I think it's going a bit spazzy.

One of my characters apparently was getting attacjed in an EH building without any zombies (or people) in it so I used my building jumping skill and it damn followed me for a square.

Holed in an abandoned hospital only to find out when I logged in again 30mins later to asses the damage I was in full health, although there were no reports of anyone healing me. Bizarre.

I tried to leave a building and it wouldn't let me because it was too heavily barricaded- the screen jumped and i had 1 AP more than i had before. Nice! I nearly killed my first zombie today. Like some horrible scavenger, i pushed in on someone elses fight intent on grabbing 3Xps then scarpering, but when i hit it only had 6hp left, after a few more swings it was at 3. Then the other guy killed it. Bam!

DXB, if you've got AP's- get out of the Auto-repair- same goes for Slippery James and Odders- there's a rot outside, 1 at Morrish and 34 at Walrond square- Autoshop is only at VSB.

Also- i've put a new file on the Necs site, a humorous conversation that went on in a building while i was away at work.

If you get revived as a standing zombie you then have to stand up to be alive again. Otherwise you'd be standing up alive in amongst a heap of zombies and no doubt be attacked again. The explanation was the revive process knocked your zombie on it's ass and then you staggered to your feet as a newly active human.

Jim Callous is injured with infected bite but still alive in 'The Fortress Of Solitude' the factory south of Halberry PD, Pitneybank.

It's EH barricaded, so only free running medics will be able to gain entry from Billet Road Fire Station 1bN 2bW..

Would be greatful for any assistance.

Any Nauts feeling the heat in Peppardville and Pitney should try Saltrow library in south Spracklingbank. It's exteremly heavily barricaded and empty bar me.

Those with free running should enter from the Hickling Auto repair shop just north.

I accidentally dropped my flak jacket last week.. but have replaced it since then.

I read something on the Creedy Defence Force Wiki about the new mods for searching for resources in game.

(installing a fully running generator in a building means you're more likely to find stuff, power = light)

The CDF found IIRC with a generator your chances are something like 1 in 3, without it's more like 1 in 4.

Pickings seem slim enough either way.

yeah, it's a slow slog at first in the game, you need to get free running to stay alive, and once you get the combat skills you start to reap more points.  The axe gives you a better chance to hit to start with.  You can either look for another One or try healing people.

Player killing seems to me fairly cowardly and just a pain in the arse, though of course, in these situations you would get that sort of scum trying to fuck everyone over!

My scientist (not a Necronaut) got lost and his AP ran out, but I managed to rescue him and get him inside in an unfamiliar neighbourhood, and his Free Running ability enabled him to get behind the heavy barricades.

He can't fight for toffee, but his DNA extractor has allowed him to build up XP pretty quickly by tagging zombies. Unlike combat, it works every time, and I think I get 3 XP for every zombie tagged.

Discovered tonight you can attain an XP a piece for dumping a body out of a window and repairing a ransacked building after felling a zombie..

Dog Deever isn't too far away, he's at Woolf Auto, next to the hospital. I've tried to get in, but it was EXB, same with Malls same withmost PD's can't get any resources til i get free running. I now have 3 fuel cans, wirecutter two GPS umpteen shotgun shells and pistol clips, still no guns or FAK. Will try again, if I get FAK's i'll visit Dewell. On a related note- Mr Ness failed to whack Sgt Johansen today, went back to his building with full AP 2 shotguns fully loaded, 3 pistols fully loaded and a flare gun- he was goin down- but guess what yes, that's right all the barricades had been raised to EXB. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRSE! Sinister Dexter and Strontium Dog never had these feckin problems!!!!

The Fortress isn't so bad. Just a little hairy at times with all the thru' traffic.

The odd PKer/ Bounty Hunter rucks keep me amused.

Just take a step back from the fray and remember to put the bodies out when it's over.

It's pure bedlam next door- don't begrudge them the unwanted gate crashers- we're never short of target practice.

It can't last though- fairly sure it'll all end in (undead) tears.

Not sure about the Way Monu revive site, but with around 60+ zombies at Walrond it might take you a while, looks like a mildly organised attack is starting on the Mall so there are likely to be a lot of people wanting revives around there.
