Through a combination of Ebay and scouring various second hand record shops, I'm slowly replacing a lot of Rock/Metal LP's/CD's from the 80's, that I had to sell when I was an impoverished student.
I've redicovered some forgotten gems. Quite a few of the said albums fall under the Sleaze/Hair metal category. Notable titles include Love/Hate's near masterpiece, 'Black Out In The Red Room'-listening to it 20 years on, you get the sense that the band really should of been as big as Guns 'n' Roses, if grunge hadn't pretty much killed of the scene. The Electric Boy's, 'Funk-O-Metal-Carpet Ride is another notable release, with it's funky groves, fat bass sound and some nice Beatlesesque melodies.
Salty Dog's eponymous album is a slab of Zeppelinesque goodness and a real treasure that I discovered on a recent trip to Birmingham, in a secondhand record store, for the princely sum of £1, was a pristine vinyl copy of Saraya's debut album, featuring some uber powerful female vocals, in a Joan Jett style with some real catchy hooks.
Also been rekindling my appreciation of all things Megadeth, having just purchase Mustaine's latest opus, 'Endgame'.
It's like 1987 all over again!

Bugger couldn't find the new Yo La Tengo album OR any Cud records in town this afternoon (I admit I didn't have very long and only looked in two shops). Sheffield lack of diversity in its town centre record shops is lamentable (and I avoid Jack's a lot of the time which I'm might have to stop even though its always been very pricey)

Peace is a lie, there's only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.

That Summer Feeling is one of the great songs

Amen to that! A superb group, criminally overlooked at the time. The second album, Wasted in America, contains what for me is their greatest moment, and the song to live your life by: Don't Fuck With Me.

For some reason, Tool had totally passed me by back in the day, and I have just discovered them now- very good indeed.

Sure do, Pete.

Stevie's still throwing down cuts from 69 to this day.

Anyone heard Sufi's solo work?

As it happens, I got a Sufi album off eBay just a few weeks ago. There's one track that could be straight out of the sessions for 69, but mostly it's very dull.

Now does anyone have a copy of Balance of the Force by Boymerang...?

Isn't Anything is the best album in the history of albums.

Went to see Fuck Buttons last night. Blisteringly good and it was really nice to see such an eclectic mix of people at a gig. From middle-aged beard-strokers like me to a bunch of girls in party frocks downing tequila slammers and dancing like they just didn't care.

Where techno meets noise. Now with added penguins.
We never really die.

SuperSurfer

The Beta Band via Spotify. Some of it reminds me of early Brian Eno (not the ambient stuff which I never got into).
