Books & Comics / Re: The Spirit

Love the Spirit, i think its simplicity is it strenght. Eisners use of panels to convey the passage of time is so simple like a dripping tap in the background or a ball rolling across the panels.
Also the intro pages are always a joy to behold, every single one sets the tone and mood of the story. Reminds me of astrix in that even though the storie are straight foward and fun to read, they can be re read and every time i notice something that i have missed before.

i was lucky enough to meet Eisner in Dublin a few years back AND get 3 day of lectures off him.
I was going home after one of the lectures and i went into Forbidden Planet,  he was doing signings and there wasnt one person around him, which i thought was sad since that week he was in Ireland he was interviewed by the Irish Times and an arts program on radio.

Johnny you can pick up copies of the warren and kitchen sink Spirit pretty cheap, picked up a good few in shop on crow corner in temple bar in dublin.

it was bonfires night last night(23rd) here in the west of ireland, was just wondering if any part of britain has the same tradition.
im pretty sure its confined here in ireland to the west of the country.
anyway a good night was had, fires blazing and a few drinks under the stars, nice way to while away a thursday night.

later stories were drawn by eric bradbury, when pugh left to draw dan dare,i read somewhere that tom tully wrote most of the loner stories.

loner was on of the few non 2000ad stories reprinted in quality, including the steel claw, cursitor doom, and black beth, anyone any idea where black beth came from, presumably from a girls comics, and i read a hell of an amount of my sisters and i dont recall it!
