Gave my mother a CD player and a couple of CD's for her birthday one year.  Was demonstrating how to work the CD player and handle CDs when she asked "when they're finished do you rewind them?"

Wow, how did I manage to miss this thread.

GC says a lot of things that make sense regarding genre and medium.  I have always viewed comics as another medium for telling stories, and like GC says, every medium has it trash, and likewise comics has absolute gems amongst the varying quality of works out there.

Child-like more than childish I would agree on, my own kids are reading comics (juve 3 being a little young for full appreciation).

Part of the problem with graphic novels used to be that they were seen as a more mature comic, a guarentee of quality despite the fact that all of the most popular (Watchmen, Dark Knight) came from a comic originally and was glossed over by their supporters.  And the supporters of the GN would not read comics as they were the "childrens equivilent).  Has that picture chnaged now I wonder?

I did see an interview with Frakes who said he had no idea how big thunderbirds was until they got over here.

Perhaps if he had known sooner they might have handled it differently
