Bad Brains http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5WkZ_M1PPQ. I love/d these more so as a student in the mid 90's. I think for a time maybe even now "Rock/Metal" has been perceived by people of being a whites mans business the above for me prove how wrong some people are

I'd add Faith No More (when Chuck Mosley was fronting them) to any list from that era too, but do you remember the disastrous 1991 Anthrax/Public Enemy joint tour? Racial tension at the big city US shows, rows of bored white metal kids ignoring PE at all the rest- even though, by all accounts, PE blew their tour mates off the stage.

I remember all that about that Anthrax/ PE tour, I have the 12" 'Bring The Noize' version PE and Anthrax brought out together on the back of it which also included 'I Am The Law' again. 'Im The Man' by Anthrax is a guilty pleasure (originally due to be a collabo with the Beastie Boys that).

Today I am listening to Exile (producer/ MC). This is a good video by him for his track 'Klepto', tongue in cheek isht-

The Cult - Choice of Weapon. Out today. Its got a bit more of an oldschool Cult feel to it compared to the last couple. Really enjoying it.

Slash - Apocalyptic Love.

I really liked his first self titled album a couple of years ago, with lots of different singers sharing the vocal duties. This one just has Myles Kennedy on board, and it's really not doing it for me. Maybe it will grow on me but its all a bit middle of the road first listen.

Hrm. Was planning to pick that up tonight.

It was Black Sabbath Vol. 4 on the way into work this morning. Still wonderful.
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

Previous Slash LP was patchy: some GREAT tunes and others a little mediocre. But I'd be keen to try this one out.

Also want to pick up Mazza Manson's new one.

That Exile video is sick. And not in the way all the young people all use that term. Cheers, Fett. Thanks for The Coup too, Lee. Being paid to drive around listening to the radio on a nice day makes every song that comes on the radio sound like THE BEST SONG EVER (!), so apologies if the following don't sound as immense as they did this afternoon:

Metronomy- The Look

2:54- Creeping

Nas- The Don

Nas seems to be taking the split with Kelis badly; driving around New York in a white Rolls with models of various ethnicities and insisting he still looks like a teenager. Cry for help.

Funny and oddly touching, especially since the robot's Dad looks like Brian Bolland. And you're right, Fett, it does remind me of that Metronomy song. If we're taking my nice weather buzz down the route of minor key melancholia; I give you I Want The World To Stop.

Not that anything can ruin the perkiness a few days of sunshine provokes in me- I even enjoyed hearing Coldplay and Rihanna's new song on the radio. Sounds like Save A Prayer to me, but then I've been worrying myself by liking a lot of pedestrian shit lately. Lana Del Ray; what's wrong with me?

Gonna go all girlie on the thread now ... Today l have mostly been listening to Gossip 'Joyous Noise'.

A great new British rock band called The Black Spiders, who have a classic rock/Sabbath vibe about them.

A glam/slightly pop rock band, with an exceptionally sultry singer called The Pretty Reckless.

And another female fronted Hard Rock band called Halestorm

I'm currently working my way through the Orange Goblin back catalogue.  'A Eulogy for the Damned' really piqued my interest - 'The Fog' is just a brilliant number.  So far they are turning out to be pretty damn good!  Have about three previous albums from late 90's, early 00's, and they rock hard!

I can't imagine what got Dweezil interested in The Pretty Reckless.

Friends (Brooklyn band) is how I'm accompanying my attempts to stay in the shade of various trees and avoid having my translucently white skin burn, flake and peel. How much vitamin D did the evolutionary process expect I'd need to absorb?
