Old Adam and Joe shows complete with the music. Smashing free plays and ridiculously stupid fun to listen to them waffle.

Hope Joe leaves the screenwriting stuff alone long enough to do Glasto with Buckules. Wish Buxton's mixtape was running still as well, that was a great concept for a 6 Music show.

Love a bit of Mott :D Get the whole album of Dudes you'll love it ;)
Yeah, that's what I've been playing. Love it.

This hits the spot as well lately. Siouxsie And The Banshees 'Love In A Void'.
It's an "affront" to the middle classes.

Portishead - Third

I remember getting this the day it came out. My girlfriend at the time hated it because I listened to it over and over for ages. I still remember the first time listening to the first track and wondering if the cut off at the end was intentional or not. Great album. 9.5/10

It certainly is. Portishead are also one of the, if not the best live band. Quite fantastic.

I'm not normally into the whole "trip hop" type of thing but I must say I saw them at Glasto last year and was thoroughly swayed. Absolutely mesmerising performance - I've stuck Third on my listen list for future contemplation.

I saw them supporting Mastodon a few years ago but only recently just heard a full album - brilliant stuff. They are an enormously fun stonery rock group - whose videos are hilarious :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQPfQvLIseA

Just started listening to Boards of Canada via Spotify. It is making very nice background music whilst sketching on the PC. Not heard before but like a lot!
There is a playlist called 'Tracks For Designers' you can subscribe to that contains hours of this sort of thing! I find my creative juices flow (so to speak) whilst listening! :D

Agree 100%. Only seen them live the once and they played most of Third and the best acoustic-y version of Wandering Star. Was the best gig ever.

I, Cosh

I always thought of Portishead as nothing special until the first time I heard the intro to Machine Gun from off of that album. Great stuff.

Yeah, their Roseland NYC live album is in my top 5 live albums of all time.  Absolutely amazing.  My god, when that woman sings she sends shivers down my spine.

Just got into these myself. Brilliantly heavy stoner rock with a sense of humour. They're playing Manchester in March and I can't make it. Gutted.

Looks like this is a double post due to low thread traffic. Soz.

I've been listening to lots of hip hop mix tapes lately so I thought I'd share the best ones with you. Not sure who else is into the old hippety hoppity apart from myself and Judda Fett but if you are, you should find something you like here.

All are free, legal downloads and all are BANGING.

Danny Brown - XXX - http://www.datpiff.com/Danny-Brown-XXX-mixtape.298540.html

Danny Brown has a really unique style and is perhaps an aquired taste. He's also very rude. Very, very rude. If you like this, his album Old is also very good.

Pete Rock and Camp Lo - 80 Blocks From Tiffanys Pt II - http://www.djbooth.net/index/albums/review/camp-lo-80-blocks-from-tiffanys-pt-ii

Pete Rock is a veteran hip hop producer and occasional MC of some distinction. Camp Lo is a decent MC. Together, and with the help of a plethora of guest stars, they've created this excellent party mix tape. Part 1 is out there somewhere too but it's not quite as polished and cohesive as Part 2.

Action Bronson and Party Supplies - Blue Chips - http://www.djbooth.net/index/mixtapes/entry/action-bronson-blue-chips-mixtape/

Rough, gruff ex-chef MC Action Bronson teams with Fools Gold producer duo Party Supplies for a mix tape on which all the tracks were recorded in one take and use samples of clips found on YouTube.

Jonwayne - Cassette 3: Marion Morrison - http://www.stonesthrow.com/news/2013/07/jonwayne-cassette-3

Jonwayne is a genius rapper/producer who makes thoughtful, intelligent hip hop with interesting, innovative and banging beats. I love this guy. His new album, Rap Album One is on my headphones all the time.

He, just yesterday, released another free mix tape which is just as good, if not better than Cassette 3, titled This Is False which can be downloaded here - http://www.stonesthrow.com/news/2012/03/jonwayne-this-is-false

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels - http://foolsgoldrecs.com/runthejewels/

A bonafide rap supergroup. Killer Mike, who dropped one of the best hip hop albums of recent times in R.A.P Music teams with El-P (who also produced R.A.P Music), legendary MC/producer of 90's indie heroes Company Flow to bring you the BEST rap album of 2013. And it's FREE!

OK, that's it for now. Hope these will be of interest to some of you and that you enjoy them as much as I do.

It was my birthday the other day and my wife kindly got me a couple of CDs of albums that have long been absent from my collection (lost at parties, lent and never returned, who knows). When you return to records after such a long time it can be nerve racking as times and taste have often moved on and you can never be sure how you'll get on with them.

Anyway I'd heard Hoover Dam by Sugar on the radio the other day and so was pretty confident going into Copper Blue that it'd be a beaut and indeed it is. So glad I own this record again bloody brilliant and the version I have has so many treats. I'll be delving back into Bob Mould's solo stuff and Huska Du off the back of this, more stuff I've lost touch with.

Secondly is Liz Phair's Exit from Guyville and again not disappointed at all the record still really holds up well. The sleeve notes for this new edition (can you just get original editions anymore? Everything seems to be digitally remastered Special Editions with bonus DVDs!) are also very heart warming, pointing out that this is far from a simple 'pornstar manifesto' as it seemed to get labelled back in the day, rather is a complex look at what it is to be a woman during that period of change in society. Bloody great record.

Now then my good music and LFC friend Jeff got me a record I already had Sweet Baboo's brillant Ships and so has asked Deb, my wife, what I might be after. This rediscovery of a couple of old records I loved has made me feel bold. So a question can the new old me get on with say Carter USM that the old newish me loved so much... surely Carter don't still hold up?

Lowrider and Dozer in preperation for seeing the two Swedish stoner groups in London tomorrow night :D

I'm friends with a guy called Jeff AD on Facebook, who as well as a massive Judge Dredd fan, plays in a fantastic speed metal band call Birth A.D.
Not only that, but their debut album features a fantastic album cover from 2000AD legend Cliff Robinson!

Anyone one interested in old school metal, check them out!   :)

Colin YNWA totally with you on the Copper Blue choice. I got my third copy of the Du's Living End last month. Nephew and a friend made off with my first 2 copies. Now that you know me by Grant Hart is one of the many cracking numbers on it. Z
