I'll be setting the timer on the VHS for this

That's very flash!  I'll have my Alba tape deck perched next to the TV's speaker.

I watched it with my optical nerves and then commemorated it via my cerebral organ

Broadcasters have no way of knowing what you're watching on telly.

Is this not more a hang-over from the analogue days?  I know that even before the digital switchover Sky were able to release very exact numbers of viewers using their digital boxes, I'd assume it's the same across the board these days?

2/3 homes watch telly on freeview boxes & they don't send data back to the broadcaster.

Looking at Sky data only tells you what folk who can afford to pay for Sky watch. Sky's highest rated show ever was watched by less than half the number of viewers as a cooking show on BBC1 at the same time and their biggest channel (Sky 1) averages an audience share of less than 1%: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32299006

Anyone know the Video+ code?

Video+!
Jesus, I'd forgotten all about that! Nostalgia a go-go!
Anyway, I'm taping it on my Phillips 2000 - you get a much better quality of picture there. But I'm going to sit up and watch so I can pause at all the ad breaks.

We had to return our VHS recorder to Radio Rentals, so I'll just have to settle for reading the novelisation.

ZenArcade

Well my mates got the laser disc. So there. Z

Speaking of which, I'll be able to support it on Sunday, then watch it again and again with no faults whatsoever (and with no ads!) thanks to this chap!

Don't forget to unpause it after the adverts have finished. You'll miss 6 minutes of the film until the auto-unpause kicks in.

Ruined my Empire Strikes Back video that did.

I'll be hoping for some good work by the TV censorship over-dubbers.

They'll have to go some to beat the all time classic of Robocop's 'You're gonna be one bad mother-crusher'.
