Events / Fabulous Furry Freak Brohers Signing - Brighton
05 September, 2008, 02:20:55 PM
I said I'd post this up for my local comic shop when I was there yesterday.

Gilbert Shelton - the man behind the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers - is doing a short (3 date) signing tour in the UK.  The guy apparently very rarely comes over here, and it's for the new printing of the Complete Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers collection.

He'll be at Dave's Comics down the lanes in Brighton on September 14th

Books & Comics / Dan Dare preview
26 November, 2007, 12:05:10 AM
There is a six page preview at Newsarama.

Looks like Ennis could do with getting back to his 2000ad roots.
Just think, in the time that preview takes up and old Dare story would have found the monster.  Fought the monster.  Been moral and good.  Had a cup of tea.

Help! / Hive Mind Help Needed - Things that go...
08 August, 2007, 10:42:06 PM
...bump in the night.

Ghosts, Ghouls, Ghasts, Vampires, Witches, Demons, Werewolves.
Does anyone know of a good website or three that has a list or descriptions for things like the above?
Pictures not really necessary, but descriptions of what they are about and what they do would be very helpful.

Books & Comics / Make a comic strip
14 October, 2006, 06:29:34 PM
Been shown this fun little site where you can do your own comic strips really easily.

Had a bash last night, but I imagine I will be heading back there more often.
Some good stuff on there, a lot of crap though.

General / A 2000ad cartoon?
13 July, 2006, 11:51:03 PM
Just been watching the new Justice League cartoons, and I was wondering, what characters from 2000ad might make a good cartoon?
Say, get Cosgrove/Hall to make it and put it on CBBC.

I don't think Dredd would work, see Lawman of the Future for why.
How bout a Nikolai Dante one?

Off Topic / Tales of the Afternow
02 July, 2006, 02:04:12 AM
Thought I'd bring this to you guys attention.
It's a series of spoken word performances by a guy named Sean Kennedy, who uses sound and music samples to make the stories more interesting.

The idea is that eacj chapter is a message sent back in time to us from some time "After now", when the world has gone to ell.

Each episode tells us more about the world and the strange future ahead of us.

It's a bleak storyline, but has some truly incredible ideas.

They are also making a comic of it.

So get hooked now.  The first two episodes are particularly dark, but after them they get a bit more action oriented.

A hilarious video, showing progression from Elvis to Eminem by the dance moves of a stand up comedian.
Needs the sound for full effect.

Off Topic / Bugger, I think I've got old early!
27 May, 2006, 04:45:06 AM
Yes, it's true, I have become old at age 25.

I was coming back from the golf club with my mate (driving range only, but still a first clue) and we drove past a new housing estate.
"I remember going past before they built those" says I, "It looked much nicer."
"Do you know what you just said?" asked my mate, "You just said, I remember when that was all fields."
"No, I, I didn't. Wouldn't. Oh crap."

And last night I thought my music was far too loud, and no-one else knew that I even had any music on.

Next thing is buy a cane and smack small children. Actually, that sounds really fun.

Off Topic / Which is better?
10 May, 2006, 05:09:54 AM
Was thinking idly today.
Would the Aerosmith song "Love in an Elevator" be cooler if it was "On an Escalator" instead?

Opinions?  Other songs that could be improved by a change of lyrics?
