General / 2000AD letters
03 August, 2005, 04:34:18 AM
I am very disappointed.  When I got a letter in 2000AD I got a batch of postcards.  Okay, not as good as a fiver, which, in current terms of current spending power would be what, about ?30?  But still, good.

Then, I write my treatise on futurology for the Megazine, when I could have been working.  When I should have been working.  And what do I get?  Not even fame.

I suggest that Tharg brings back cash prizes for letters.  To be enacted retrospectively.

Off Topic / Posting a batch of comics
24 May, 2005, 05:25:33 AM
I need to send a few batches of comics (v. low value - they're my small-press efforts) around the country.  I am guessing that people on this board have done this.  Allow me to tap your expertise.  How did you do this?

Help! / [BRISTOL] I have lost my keys
16 May, 2005, 03:19:47 AM
Errr, doh!

I think I left my keys on the Futurequake! table.  They are a bunch of 4 keys - 2 bronze coloured small keys, 2 silver coloured large keys - on a Starman fob.

I might have been that I left them on the Starscape table.

That is what comes with stapling comics until three in the morning on Friday night, and drinking until four in the morning on Saturday night.

If anyone has any news, please e-mail me through the board.

Not being able to lock my own door doesn't stop me trying to sell comics mind.

General / My own little strip
29 January, 2005, 09:30:15 AM
I've put part one of chapter one up on my blog.  Come and have a look.  Leave a message.  Ignore the politics (if you want).

I've been away for a while.  I'm not sure if I'm back yet, but I do have work to do.

Off Topic / Shatner's Rocket Man

Shatner sings, again, this time live and in video.  Has anyone got his new album?

In other news, Fry from Futurama just explored the Undercity (Sky One).

General / Better than Mister Mister...

I'm now Master Master.

Though I did balls up my dissertation a little, I've now got confirmation that I've passed my second Master's degree.

(But seriously, I don't deserve to be here and I'll be found out, and thrown out, sooner or later.  I'm no academic.  A know it all, yes.)

Off Topic / Highlander II: The Quickening

I just spent a few moments laughing at this review.  Maybe this was what Jonathon Ross was trying to do when he recommended LoEG and Scary Movie 3 to me when he was chatting to me through the little window in a box we have in the front room.

General / X-Force, x-funk
15 September, 2004, 05:43:14 AM
Right, so the original X-Force was poorly written tripe drawn by the 'master of anatomy' that is Rob Liefield (sp?).  Or somebody.

I should know, I think I own issues 1-whatever of that bogpaper.

Then Milligan gets hold of the title, transforms it and turns it into an intelligent, entertaining and very witty book.  Some fan-boys get annoyed.  'This isn't X-Force' they whine.

I should have seen it coming with the name change.  Okay, so it was well-worked into a re-branding storyline, but I should have spotted that it freed the X-Force title to return to being a bag of guff about Cannonball, Shatterstar, or whoever.

And it has.  In FP the other day I picked up X-Force #1 and thought, my God, I've been transported ten years into the past.  I can correct all my mistakes and make a killing in the bookies.

Alas, no.  It was only a sign of a steady cultural regression.  Bah!

I've been gathering this Alan Moore series for a while now, picking them up for no more than 20p each.  And they're really, really good fun.  I NEED to get the others, and I rarely feel that way.

General / No Title

Who do I ask for permission to host, let's say, 2000AD fan fiction on my own site?  It'd be my fan fiction, if any, but it'd be 2000AD characters...

Well, I have set up a thing what they call, 'a blog'.  So far there is just my 'Heresy' strip up there, but over the next few weeks, or months, I'll be putting up a range of material.

Some of you will be familiar with my rants.  They will be there.

Please come, bookmark the site and make comments.  It's pretty bare as yet, but make it busy.  Build my traffic.  All reasonably literate posts are welcome.  Well almost all - common decency applies even here.

Off Topic / Can I post an illustrated story here?
07 August, 2004, 02:33:54 AM
Well, as the title says.  It's not 2000AD related, except in so much as I read 2000AD and spend much of my time making a verbose fool of myself here.

If not, where is a good place to go?

General / Squaxx letter in the Guardian
28 June, 2004, 05:09:24 AM
I direct you to this letter, printed Thursday 24th June:

"Prataap Patrose (Letters, June 22) says modern skyscrapers look "like something out of a sci-fi comic book". This is surely a good thing. If we encourage comic-book buildings, designers will soon develop technology to accompany them, such as hover boards, personal robot servants and anti-mugging suits.
