Quote(SPOLIERS in following paragraph)

When a group of rouge Judges show up it looks like things could get interesting. But instead it gets even more banal. The stupidity of these new adversaries is unbelievable; three of them all die from taking the time to talk to the people they are being paid to kill. And in a bizarre casting choice, the lead rouge has a very similar jaw line to Karl Urban and thus it is painfully hard to tell who is actually fighting who. It all ends up like watching someone else play a video game on an easy setting.

Never noticed any blusher on the corrupt judges personally.  With 'rouge' and 'spoliers', it sounds like the guy is talking French.  AND NOBODY WANTS THAT.

Noticed the Ezquerra, Bolland and O'Neil (sic) blocks on the second viewing.  Also 'Fatties Rule' graffitied on the skate ramp.  Caught a quick glimplse of the Krysler poster - does anyone know what it says in full?

I enjoyed the God Delusion, me.  To be fair, it is Dawkins' genuine opinion that belief in God is a delusion, so why not call the book that?
What I find the biggest shame about Dawkins is that he used to be known for his groundbreaking theories in the field of evolutionary biology; and now he's just that atheist guy who's always on the telly.  Largely his own doing, of course, but still a pity that his more important achievements are largely overlooked these days.

Ah, right.  This was during my godawful spell in Mega-City 1 Beijing.

Quoteis there something I need to know, you're making me nervous?

Nah, just Dredd got a bit shit for a while in the 90s when other writers took over.  Two of the highest profile comic writers in the world today, who would have thought it?

Actually getting back to the film; about Dredd staring at Anderson in the lift after she realises she's shot Kathy's husband - I think he must have realised something was up.

Noticed another amongst our number on my second viewing.  Can't quite remember but it was some kind of TV advertising thing near the start, 'sponsored by Commando Forces'!
Someone must have mentioned this before, surely?

QuoteI prefer to think that it was to slow down her heart beat so as to give time for the trigger to get out of distance.

That's kind of what I was hoping; so the shock wouldn't give her a heart attack or summit like that.  Dredd as I see him only commits violence for practical reasons.

Also noticed this time that the 2000AD Forum was thanked in the credits.  You're welcome, Alex, it's our pleasure!

Just wondering though, why did Dredd give Ma Ma a hit of slo-mo as he was killing her?  Was it sheer sadistic bastardry or was it something to do with the heart-beat trigger?

Yep I bold it for you.

That IS Dredd, don't you know?

Fair enough  :D

Went to see it again today, this time on a bigger screen with better sound.  Bit of an easter-egg hunt really*.  Nice to see they sort of re-used this classic line:

*Fuck me.  Just realised why they call them Easter eggs.

Thanks, Olivia, we couldn't have asked for a better Anderson! (Even though I like dance music)

QuoteI think maybe because while not subscribing to any of the God aspect he did seem to like the approach and personality of the guy he was having the conversation with. I did too. It was such a refreshing encounter tbh. Well worth a watch if you have half an hour to spare.

Prodigal, you're a gem - would that all the religious were as open-minded and balanced as you.

QuoteIn a debate about Islam I saw, he ended up coming off worse because he got frustrated and lost his temper whilst the muslim guy kept his cool (albeit whilst spouting some nonsense about Western women being disgraceful because they are 'allowed' to wear whatever they want).

I saw that one as well - I actually thought RD reacted well.  And I remember a great comeback line to the fundamentalist oaf's prejudiced rants, that went something like this:

Muslim guy: 'You (westerners) dress your women up like prostitutes.'
Dawkins: 'They dress themselves up.'

Quite so.
