General / Origins - when does it start?

I don't mean when this year, but has it been revealed what period it's going to cover in the history of the judges?

Thanks,

Steve

General / Dredd Epic Fantasy Artist
28 March, 2006, 01:24:53 AM
Hi,

I'm not sure if this has come up before, apologies if it has...

Considering the amount of film re-makes that are made, I can only think of the Return of Rico as a Dredd story having been redrawn.

If you had a free-range for one artist or a combination of artists to do a particular Dredd epic, who would it be?

I'll start - Henry Flint does City of the Damned...

Hi,

If there are any artists who use Painter at all, there's a free .5 upgrade to Painter IX on the Corel site.

General / Dan Dare Exteme Edition?

Hi,

does anyone know if there is likely to be a Dan Dare Extreme Edition - or is there a problem with rights over reprinting the character?

Thanks,

Film & TV / Ricky Gervais Podcast

If anyone liked his xfm show that he did with Stephen Merchant, there's going to be a weekly podcast on the guardian unlimited website, starting from the beginning of December.

More importantly, Karl Pilkington will still be contributing... hopefully Monkey News might survive the transition.

From the mediaguardian site.

"Rebekah Wade, editor of the Sun, has been arrested for an alleged assault on her husband, the EastEnders actor Ross Kemp.

Ms Wade remains in custody at a police station in south London following a dispute at the couple's home in Battersea in the early hours of the morning."

Can't help thinking of his appearance in "Extras"

General / PSU as a PSI Div Replacement
07 October, 2005, 08:34:31 PM
I have to say I think PSU was one of the best things to be added to Dredd in the past few years. It seems to have evolved as a more realistic replacement for PSI Div, which doesn't seem to be popular with writers because it can be a cop-out. Any idea if this was a conscious decision, or it just happened that way?

Having PSU seems like a more natural extension of Justice Dept than PSI Div. I'm not saying we should have "Roffman, PSU Division" as a standalone strip, but I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of it. Maybe a Meg equivalent of the Wire...

So, more PSU?

Hi,

Just got my Meg and Tooth.

In the anniversary Meg, the Dredd story has a couple of pages reprinted, and it looks like the Simping Detective stops short. Is that the same for everyone's issue?

Off Topic / WH Smith Hard Sell

Apologies for the rant...

Ive just been in to WHS and lately they've been trying to flog junk at the checkout. (You've bought a newspaper therefore you must want a huge fuckoff chocolate bar, do you want to order the latest Harry Potter that sort of thing)

Lately they've been trying to sell me cheap backpacks for some inexplicable reason, and today all the staff on the tills are wearing them.

Unfortunately this means that they can't sit up straight.

I mean FFS what is going on? Is there some sort of demented Del Boy buying job lots of tat and flogging it off? I don't know why they think that having someone on the till at WHS wearing a fucking backpack is likely to sell more of the things.

Just curious if this is a nationwide thing, or the backpack-wearing is just the work of the branch manager.

I half-expect to next see the staff with a cheapo DVD player strapped to their head next time.

Grrr.

General / A bit of CG self-pimpage...
01 August, 2005, 07:42:52 AM
Hi,

I've just been buffing up my showreel and finally got round to a camera move on a model that's been sitting around for ages...

It's just for the reel rather than anything bigger, and I plan to add some small scale characters and some traffic on the roads, but it's looking OK so far...

BTW it's a 1280x720 WMV file - I think the min spec that it will play on is about a 1.8GHz PC, but it may work on slower machines...

Any comments welcome,

Cheers,

Steve

General / Humpties?
28 April, 2005, 02:57:58 AM
Hi,

I've been listening to some old Ricky Gervais Xfm shows, and the topic was nursery rhymes... anyway there was a thing about the origin of Humpty Dumpty being a cannon defending the castle in Colchester, not an egg-shaped guy...

Was there ever a story in 2000AD which had some kind of weaponry or robots called Humpty Dumptys? It sounds like something that might have been in a strip like Tor Cyan... it just rings a bell and it's bugging me.

Thanks,

Steve
