How much do you remember...?
The prog with Necropolis on the cover was the first one I ever bought.

At Last The 1988 Show...
(i.e. a timeline of 2000AD events from that year...)
Enjoy!

General / The Stainless Steel Rat story
16 August, 2021, 08:09:48 AM
All about the books and the 2000AD version.
Still the only straightforward literary adaptation in the comic's history?

Film & TV / Star Trek: Enterprise
23 March, 2021, 05:54:08 AM
It's twenty years (nearly) since this started. Was initially just called 'Enterprise,' of course.
Thinking of giving it a go. What do people think? (am not concerned about spoilers myself).
Did it work as a prequel?
Another question - which prequels to anything do you think have worked best?

General / History of Comics, 1930-2030
15 February, 2021, 07:43:16 AM
Hello,
I admit I am guilty of shameless self-promotion here as I wrote some of the articles included.
But these four volumes include several 2000AD-related features which would undoubtedly be of interest to many people here. And I've not seen them mentioned anywhere on here, I can only assume people are entirely unaware of them? And you should know they at least exist.
They were published at the end of last year.
There are four magazines each representing a different year.
1977: features an article on the origins of 2000AD and another about the birth of Dredd (these were written by me).
The 1986 one contains features on Diceman magazine and Metalzoic (I wrote the last of these. And one on Watchmen). Lots of other comics stuff in all these volumes.
1984: One on Halo Jones. I just wrote about Transformers comic here.
1950: Obviously nothing about 2000AD here. Stuff on Dan Dare and The Eagle though.
I'm not exactly unbiased. But well worth a look, I'd say...

Despite the title, the 2020s are not really covered...

Film & TV / Wesley Crusher?
19 January, 2021, 07:52:40 AM
I was watching Star Trek the other day.
What was the deal with Wesley Crusher exactly?
I seem to remember he was very unpopular with the ST fan base for some reason? Why was that? He was an okay actor wasn't he? Was he forced off the show in the end?

Two features on the Galaxy's Greatest Comic are to appear in the magazine Comic Scene later in October.
(I will declare an interest here - I wrote them).
One is a timeline of key events in 2000AD history.
The other is on the long lamented Ballad of Halo Jones.

General / Whatever happened to Star Lord?

Has there ever been a story done about this? I mean the character rather than the actual comic.

Books & Comics / Marvelman/Watchmen info?
08 January, 2019, 10:35:10 AM
Hi there readers!
Can anyone recommend any good resources for info on Alan Moore? Am thinking Marvelman/Watchmen particularly? Also stuff on Before Watchmen (although I know that wasn't him).
Any books, online articles, interviews, podcasts?
I already have Lance Parkin's excellent biography.
Any help would be marvelous/miraculous!
Thanks a lot!

General / Top 2000AD moments of the last 25 years
16 November, 2018, 08:02:34 AM
What do you think have been the top 10 greatest moments of 2000AD's last quarter century?
Am pretty up on the comic until the mid-90s but regrettably lost interest for a while after that.
What have I missed?

General / Star Lord: 40 Years on
24 July, 2018, 06:34:24 AM
Going back a bit, but does anyone else have fond memories of 2000AD's short lived sister comic?
I was one in 1978 but was lucky enough to inherit a complete set from my older brother (who didn't even like 2000AD!)
I actually get the impression it was generally of a higher quality than 2000AD at the time? Nice painted covers etc.
Timequake anyone?
Star Lord himself was a bit odd.
Mind Wars? Never really got into that.
High points were of course Strontium Dog, Ro-Busters (and Timequake, I would argue).
I must be off now: the gronks are calling and I can't let them down...
Watch the skies!

General / Tharg's Nerve Centre
24 January, 2018, 06:35:56 AM
I expect this has been discussed before but has anyone had any letters in 2000AD?
(Or while we're on the subject, anywhere else, interesting?)
I had two in - both quite silly ones - both circa 1993.
One under the name F Hallam, Peterborough (incorrect) asking whether 2000AD was planning an Abba special.
Another better one under the name C Hallam, Peterborough (correct) based on an anagram of Tharg's name.
I'd quite like to know the exact prog numbers they're in actually.
I was 16 and received a 2000AD mug each time. Sadly, the pictures on both mugs faded quickly after a few trips in the dishwasher.
My younger brother also broke one of them.
But I was pleased to get in. I still am!

General / The Stainless Steel Rat
23 January, 2018, 09:06:28 AM
Hi there!
Does anyone know much about The Stainless Steel Rat strip which ran in the Eighties?
Are there any other 2000AD strips which have been adapted directly from books?
