Prog / Re: Prog 1660 - Holy Terror

It's on the cards. We haven't won at their place since 1993 and that was against a weakened team because they were playing in the FA Cup Final 4 days later.

£47 for abject misery.

Still, last years 4-4 was jolly good fun.

I am hoping we draw either Blackburn or Portsmouth at home in the cup draw this afternoon.

Not likely to get this today but then I wouldn't have time to read it because I'm off to the North London Derby at 10.30 and probably won't want to read it after because Spurs are likely to get tonked putting me in a very, very, bad mood.

Probably just as well I don't get it until Monday.  :'(

Interesting Peter. I'm a pretty sceptical guy but I saw what I saw. Just what it was that I saw I can't say - but it wasn't a distant firework. Could've been a satellite (but would a satellite appear to the naked eye to be moving as fast as a jet?).

Yep, satellites look like small glowing dots moving very, very fast.
From my garden I can usually see about 10-15 in an hour at night. Even better when the sun has just gone down because they streak a beautiful yellow.

As it's a Saturday this year, I'll get home from the football and spend the night in the pub. This will allow me to avoid answering my front door all night long. Think the landlord is having a kids halloween party there, so I'll pick up some sweets to handout to them.

What team will you be going to watch?

I'll go for Prog 1631 from Dizzy.

Another vote for this one.
I remember opening the envelope on a Saturday morning and just staring at this for ages over a black coffee and a ciggie.

The last time I went to anything even remotely comic related was the signings of the 2000 AD and Judge Dredd annuals at the original Forbidden Planet (well above it, anyway).
Was but a shy 11 year old at the time but from what I remember they were all jolly polite and nice. I still have the annuals.

I'm not really the sociable type and if I went to one today I would wander around on my own grumbling about prices and crowds.

I'm a bit of a miserable git to say the least.

No, I will contain my comic related activities to just reading the things in my own home where no one will point and laugh or try to engage me in conversations about X-Men that I have no clue about.

Not to say that I hope those that do attend don't have a fantastic time.  :)

But because I love my movies I bought a 60 inch LCD HD TV, a £1000 Sony amp, 7.1 speakers to go with my 4000 DVD's and now about 150 blu rays.

A FIVE FOOT FUCKING TELLY !?! Do you live in an enormous mansion Matt? Do you actually own Spurs?

If so, can you get my mate a free season ticket?  ;D

Fook off.  ;)
It's a nice telly though.
Beats going to the cinema anyday. Although I wanted a projector but Mrs OftheSpurs put her foot down at that. The killjoy  :(

Don't go to the cinema anymore, it's just not worth the prison sentence that will invariable follow after I have killed some little c*nt with a mobile phone.
But because I love my movies I bought a 60 inch LCD HD TV, a £1000 Sony amp, 7.1 speakers to go with my 4000 DVD's and now about 150 blu rays.

Can't be arsed to drive 20 mins there, 20 mins back, watch 30 mins of forced adverts for stuff that I would never buy, endear the endless chatter, rustling of sweet wrappers, people trotting out every 5 minutes for a piss because they bought a gallon of fucking pepsi, the smell of those cheesy nacho shit (jesus, the film is only 2 hours long. Either eat beforehand or after. You're not going to die of starvation in 2 hours) and the general discomfort of having to leave my house so now I wait until the film is out either on Blu ray or DVD and get it from America and watch it again and again if I so please for the cost of 2 cinema tickets. And if the film is shit I can usually either shift it on eBay for pretty much what I paid for it or give it as a birthday/Christmas present.
Haven't been to the cinema for about 4 years now and it's their own fucking fault.

God that feels better.  :D

the sacred comics are precious things to be saved & guarded, but too much hassal to rummage through boxes for re-reads, books on shelves better for that. so both.

This.

I have all my progs, the entire run, bagged and boarded and housed in 22 comic boxes. For me to find a run and then read them is a real fecking pain.
The trades are nice and easy to dip into. I still do get my progs out from time to time but on a daily basis the trades are sooooooo much easier to live with.

I have a fair size pile of these looking for a new home if anyone is interested.
If you are let me know either via this thread or a pm and I'll list how many and what dates they are and you can make me an offer.
Probably around 50 of them. Some from the early days and some of the later issues that looked like the old twoths.

Snap. When I saw that TBD were posting early I too used them for the first time.
Arrived this morning in a jiffy but in perfect condition.
I skipped Case Files 13 for now as I believe it's full of shit for the most part but do have 1-12. I will get 13 eventually because I do hate a gap.
You're missing out on quite a few lead in stories to Necropolis aren't you?

Personally, I'm saving CF 13, 14 & Dead Man for a bumper Christmas pressie. Just need ot find someone to buy them for me now.

I have read them before and have the original progs. I have better books at the top of my 'wants' pile at the moment but I couldn't resist some Necropolis goodness.

This thread inspired me to order from Book Depository for the first time ever. Got the book this morning and had a pleasant afternoon savouring the countdown. Forced myself not to read into the main story. Gotta ration those thrills.

The Casefiles are all new to me so 'm looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about over Necropolis. Can it really be as good as the longstanding faithfull would have it?

Read this yesterday.
Pretty standard Constantine story to be honest and the 'twist' that I read about was hardly that and it comes in the middle of the book.

Still irks me slightly that Constantine is a Liverpudlian and yet nearly every writer out there has him coming over all cockney with the ryhming slang or am I missing something.

The book is ok, no great shakes. I thought the art was poor and the storyline average especially for those that have been buying Helblazer for sometime.
