I've just stuck a load of stuff up on eBay, thought some of it might be of interest to you lot.

Ideally I'd like to sell these in as few parcels as possible, so if you want to buy a few I'm more than happy to combine postage and/or refund the difference so you can get a bargain.

Also, if anyone wants several items and is able to collect in person to avoid paying postage, contact me and I will sort out - I am in London btw.

Pretty much everything starts @99p, and most books are Hamlyn editions, which are full size and superior repro than the more recent editions. All in great nick, except Childhood's End which is a bit worn.

Here is a list of what is available:

JUDGE DREDD: MEGA-CITY MASTERS 01 (Rebellion)
JUDGE DREDD: NECROPOLIS (Hamlyn)
JUDGE DREDD: MECHANISMO (Rebellion)
JUDGE DREDD: WILDERLANDS (Hamlyn)
JUDGE DREDD: FETISH (Hamlyn)
JUDGE DREDD: JUDGEMENT DAY (Hamlyn)
JUDGE DREDD: THE PIT (Hamlyn)
JUDGE ANDERSON: CHILDHOOD'S END
JUDGE ANDERSON: SATAN (Hamlyn)
DEVLIN WAUGH: SWIMMING IN BLOOD (DC/Rebellion)
DEVLIN WAUGH: RED TIDE (DC/Rebellion)
SHIMURA (DC/Rebellion)
THE COMPLETE BALLAD OF HALO JONES (Titan)
DURHAM RED: THE SCARLET CANTOS (Hamlyn)
VAMPIRE BOY by Carlos Trillo/Eduardo Risso (Dark Horse)

There are also several Blu Rays and Xbox/3DS/Wii games, again mostly starting at 99p.

Film & TV / Community
02 January, 2014, 07:18:35 PM
Know there are a few fans on the board, so it makes sense to start a thread now that the start of season 5 is mere hours away...

So, Chevy Chase is out - good news for the cast and crew apparently as he is (in)famously a right pain to work with and clearly didn't care for the show, though I will miss him as a viewer - imo Pierce always had some of the funniest lines and he's the favourite character of the friends I've just converted to the show.

And Donald Glover is also leaving the show, and will only appear in 5 of the 13 new episodes, which is a real tragedy, and he'll be greatly missed.

But they're taking up the slack with some very interesting guest stars including Breaking Bad's Jonathon Banks and Justified's Walton Goggins.

I'm cautiously optimistic now that Dan Harmon is back in charge following what was - for me - a painfully weak, laugh-free season 4, though the trailers - linked below - have tempered my hopes somewhat (though the Mad Men-themed one is pretty funny if you're a fan of that show).

Classifieds / Lots of 2000ad comics and GNs must go...
12 November, 2013, 02:49:09 PM
Hi chums,

Having a big clear out as might be leaving the country in the new year.

I have lots of graphic novels and comics to get rid of, mainly ones I own duplicates of, but basically I can't be arsed to put them all up individually on eBay, and I figured I'd get a better response through the board.

IDEALLY I'd like to send them out in as few packages as possible, so will consider discounts on multiple books and will charge fairly for postage. Most books are in excellent condition (most of the them are 'like new' - I look after my comics), some are in good/fair condition, slight creases etc. If you're interested, PM me an offer.

Here's what I have:

Judge Dredd:
Mega-City Masters 01 (Rebellion/Simon & Schuster)
Mechanismo (Rebellion Edition)
Wilderlands (Hamlyn Edition)
The Pit (Hamlyn Edition)
Necropolis (Hamlyn Edition)
Judgement Day (Hamlyn Edition)
Fetish (Hamlyn Edition)

Judge Anderson:
Satan (Hamlyn Edition)
Childhood's End (Hamlyn Edition)

Usagi Yojimbo (recent Dark Horse editions):
Book 08: Shades of Death
Book 09: Daisho
Book 10: The Brink of Life and Death

Others:
Complete DR & Quinch (Titan 2000 Edition)
Complete Halo Jones (Titan 2000 Edition)
Durham Red: The Scarlet Cantos (Hamlyn Edition)
Blacksad Books 1&2
Hellblazer volume 01: Original Sins (recent edition with new Jim Lee cover)
Vampire Boy by Trillo/Risso (Dark Horse phonebook)

I also have lots of 2000ads and Megazines to get rid of - these are all from the last few years, progs 1700 and Meg 273 to present with some substantial gaps, as well as lots of the accompanying Meg floppies. I'm not listing these up yet as I need to go through them and I am not interested in selling them off piecemeal - but I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in making an offer?

Obviously postage would be prohibitively expensive, so ideally someone would be able to collect them in person (I am in London).

Books & Comics / Scud the Disposable Assassin..?
26 October, 2013, 01:49:02 PM
So, I'm a HUGE fan of the excellent sitcom Community (which has now topped Spaced as my favourite ever comedy series), and of its creator and showrunner Dan Harmon - who I think is an actual (often misunderstood, or at least frequently misquoted) genius.

Apparently he cut his teeth writing the Image comic series Scud the Disposable Assassin with his friend Rob Schrab (who also now works on Community and other Harmon projects).

So, has anyone here read any Scud? Is it any good? Frankly if it contains a fraction of the genius that Community does, I'm well up for buying the collected book right now.

Farewell to the Chief Judge Dredd Megazine vol.2 #68 Story by Wagner, art by Cyril Julien.

Colour: Red

Strapline: 'CHAINED HEAT!'

As previously noted, the design of the book has flipped to mirror volumes 1-10, with the block colour on top and black on the bottom.

So we're well and truly over the worst of it now, with Crusade the only notable stinker left, which is in the next volume. As you can see, the bulk of this book is the Tenth Planet/Wilderlands saga - which brings the reign of McGruder to a close, and is imo a somewhat unfairly maligned story that suffers a little from frequent switching of artists, Ezquerra's slightly fruity early computer colouring, a bizarre art/editorial(?) error that fluffs the ending reveal and pacing that is hampered substantially by being a 2000ad/Megazine crossover, with early episodes especially jarringly repeating events multiple times. However, this story, along with the earlier Mechanismo trilogy, represents a bit of a turning point in Dredd that led to less showy, more character-based stories, a style that Wagner would perfect with The Pit, due in Case Files 24.

Games / Mighty No. 9
04 September, 2013, 10:36:35 AM
Mighty No. 9 is a new 2D platform action game, designed as a spiritual successor to the dormant Mega Man/Rock Man franchise, the project of a dream team of ex-Capcom devs.

Frankly, it looks great. They are currently seeking funding through Kickstarter, and reached their initial goal within a day - I was more than happy to plonk down $20 on a pre-order. However, I am hoping they will reach the stretch goal of $2,500,000, which would allow them to port the game to consoles.

Books & Comics / BARTKIRA
03 September, 2013, 11:29:46 AM
A friend of mine is doing a few pages for this and asked a few months ago if I would be interested in doing a few too. I said no as I thought it sounded a bit pointless and my free time to do my own projects is tight enough as it is, but actually seeing it come together I do somewhat regret missing out on getting involved, as the results are hilarious.

The brainchild of Ryan Humphreys and James Harvey, BARTKIRA is a crowdsourcing project to redraw the entirety of the original 6-volume, 2000+ page AKIRA manga, but with Simpsons characters and motifs. Over 700 artists are pitching in a few pages each, see the link for the results.

The 'cast list' is simply inspired. Lisa Simpson IS Lady Miyako. Principal Skinner IS The Colonel. Lunchlady Doris IS Chiyoko. And so on. I particularly admire the decision to go with Homer as The Birdman.

How had I not heard about this?!?! Did a search on the the forum but couldn't find anything.

Anyway, just saw this in the latest 2000ad email, and ordered one immediately. Timely too as I recently managed to break the chain on my comic badge one.

Books & Comics / Best Way to Subscribe?

Seriously considering going digital with the prog and Meg. Just wondering what the potential upsides and downsides are.

Financially speaking, is the digital App more directly beneficial for Rebellion?

Books & Comics / Atomic Robo any good?

Just noticed the early Atomic Robo books are now on Comixology and at really good prices (at least in US, haven't checked the app yet).

Is worth a punt?

So I'll be in Edinburgh for a day and a night next month. Never been to Scotland before, and I know there's lots of Scotch folk on this board. Any must-see, must-do things? Pubs/restaurants/interesting stuff a little off the beaten path?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Help! / Twitter Advice
29 May, 2013, 11:07:32 AM
Hi chums,

I've been using Twitter to promote my artwork, and one of my pictures has been getting a fair bit of attention which is very gratifying. I want to push it a bit further, and circle in a few more people/companies to the original tweet who might be interested in sharing it. I could of course start a new tweet, but ideally I want to keep the momentum going on the original one. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.
